Experimental study on deformation of concrete for shotcrete use in high geothermal tunnel environments

  • Taking high geothermal tunnels as background, the deformation of concrete for shotcrete use was studied by simulating hot-humid and hot-dry environments in a laboratory. The research is made up by two parts, one is the influence of two kinds of high geothermal environments on the deformation of shotcrete, and the other is the shrinkage inhibited effect of fiber materials (steel fibers, polypropylene fibers, and the mixture of both) on the concrete in hot-dry environments. The research results show that: (1) in hot and humid environments, wet expansion and thermal expansion happened on concrete, but the deformation is smooth throughout the whole curing age. (2) In hot and dry environments, the concrete suffers from shrinkage. The deformation obeys linear relationship with the natural logarithm of curing age in the first 28 days, and it becomes stable after the $28^{th}$ day. (3) The shrinkage of concrete in a hot and dry environment can be inhibited by adding fiber materials especially steel fibers, and it also obeys linear relationship with the natural logarithm of curing age before it becomes stable. However, compared with no-fiber condition, it takes 14 days, half of 28 days, to make the shrinkage become stable, and the shrinkage ratio of concrete at 180-day age decreases by 63.2% as well. (4) According to submicroscopic and microscopic analysis, there is great bond strength at the interface between steel fiber and concrete. The fiber meshes are formed in concrete by disorderly distributed fibers, which not only can effectively restrain the shrinkage, but also prevent the micro and macro cracks from extending.

Thermal, electrical and mechanical buckling loads of sandwich nano-beams made of FG-CNTRC resting on Pasternak's foundation based on higher order shear deformation theory

  • This research deals with thermo-electro-mechanical buckling analysis of the sandwich nano-beams with face-sheets made of functionally graded carbon nano-tubes reinforcement composite (FG-CNTRC) based on the nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory (NSGET) considering various higher-order shear deformation beam theories (HSDBT). The sandwich nano-beam with FG-CNTRC face-sheets is subjected to thermal and electrical loads while is resting on Pasternak's foundation. It is assumed that the material properties of the face-sheets change continuously along the thickness direction according to different patterns for CNTs distribution. In order to include coupling of strain and electrical field in equation of motion, the nonlocal non-classical nano-beam model contains piezoelectric effect. The governing equations of motion are derived using Hamilton principle based on HSDBTs and NSGET. The differential quadrature method (DQM) is used to calculate the mechanical buckling loads of sandwich nano-beam as well as critical voltage and temperature rising. After verification with validated reference, comprehensive numerical results are presented to investigate the influence of important parameters such as various HSDBTs, length scale parameter (strain gradient parameter), the nonlocal parameter, the CNTs volume fraction, Pasternak's foundation coefficients, various boundary conditions, the CNTs efficiency parameter and geometric dimensions on the buckling behaviors of FG sandwich nano-beam. The numerical results indicate that, the amounts of the mechanical critical load calculated by PSDBT and TSDBT approximately have same values as well as ESDBT and ASDBT. Also, it is worthy noted that buckling load calculated by aforementioned theories is nearly smaller than buckling load estimated by FSDBT. Also, similar aforementioned structure is used to building the nano/micro oscillators.

  • 플렉서블, 웨어러블 디바이스 등을 포함한 차세대 전자 기기의 기계적 신뢰성 향상을 위하여 다양한 유연 접합부에서 높은 수준의 기계적 신뢰성이 요구되고 있다. 기존 고분자 기판 접합을 위한 에폭시 등의 유기 접착소재는 접합부 두께 증가가 필연적이며, 반복 변형, 고온 경화에 의한 열기계적 파손 문제를 수반한다. 따라서 유연 접합을 위해서 접합부 두께를 최소화하고 열 손상을 방지하기 위한 저온 접합 공정 개발이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 플렉서블 기판의 유연, 강건, 저 열 손상 접합이 가능한 플렉서블 레이저 투과 용접(flexible laser transmission welding, f-LTW)를 개발하였다. 유연 기판 위 탄소나노튜브(carbon nanotube, CNT)를 박막 코팅하여 접합부 두께를 줄였으며, CNT 분산 빔 레이저 가열을 통한 고분자 기판 표면의 국부적 용융 접합 공정이 개발되었다. 짧은 접합 공정 시간과 기판의 열 손상을 최소화하는 레이저 공정 조건을 구축하였으며 고분자 기판과 CNT 접합 형성 메커니즘을 분석하였다. 또한 접합부의 강건성 및 유연성 평가를 위해 인장강도 시험, 박리 시험과 반복 굽힘 시험을 진행하였다.

In order to predict the roll wear, the wear model is reformulated as an incremental from and then wear depth of roll is calculated at each deformation step on contact area using the results of finite element analysis, such as relative sliding velocity and normal pressure at contact area. Archard's wear model was applied to predict the roll wear. To know the effects of thermal softening of DCI (Ductile Cast Iron) roll material according to operating conditions, high temperature micro hardness test is executed and a new wear model has been proposed by considering the thermal softening of DCI roll expressed in terms of the main tempering curve. The new technique developed in this study for adjusting roll gap can give more systematically and economically feasible means to improve the dimension accuracy of bar with full usefulness and generality.

플라스틱 IC 패키지 접합부의 수명예측 및 품질향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Life Prediction and Quality Improvement of Joint in IC Package)

  • Thermal fatigue strength of the solder joints is the most critical issue for TSOP(Thin Small Outline Package) because the leads of this package are extremely short and thermal deformation cannot be absorbed by the deflection of the lead. And the TSOP body can be subject to early fatigue failures in thermal cycle environments. This paper was discussed distribution of thermal stresses at near the joint between silicon chip and die pad and investigated their reliability of solder joints of TSOP with 42 alloy clad lead frame on printed circuit board through FEM and 3 different thermal cycling tests. It has been found that the stress concentration around the encapsulated edge structure for internal crack between the silicon chip and Cu alloy die pad. And using 42 alloy clad, The reliability of TSOP body was improved. In case of using 42 alloy clad die pad(t=0.03mm). $$\sigma$_{VMmax}$ is 69Mpa. It is showed that 15% improvement of the strength in the TSOP body in comparison with using Cu alloy die pad $($\sigma$_{VMmax}$=81MPa). In solder joint of TSOP, the maximum equivalent plastic strain and Von Mises stress concentrate on the heel of solder fillet and crack was initiated in it's region and propagated through the interface between lead and solder. Finally, the modified Manson-Coffin equation and relationship of the ratio of $N_{f}$ to nest(η) and cumulative fracture probability(f) with respect to the deviations of the 50% fracture probability life $(N_{f 50%})$ were achieved.

Fe-Ni-Co 코바 합금의 고온변형거동에 미치는 합금원소(Mn, Mo, B) 첨가의 영향 (Effect of Alloying Elements(Mn, Mo, B) on the High Temperature Deformation Behavior of Low Thermal Expansion Fe-Ni-Co Alloy)

  • The effect of alloying elements(Mn, S, Mo, B) on the high temperature deformation behavior of Fe-29%Ni-17%Co (Kovar) alloy were investigated. And the effect of high temperature oxidation on the hot ductility was also studied. The hot ductility of Kovar alloy was drastically increased with the addition of Mn and lowering of S content. It has been found that the brittle intergranular fracture at high temperature cracking is closely associated with the FeS sulfide along the grain boundary. When Mn was added, the type of sulfide was changed to MnS from FeS and ductile intergranular fracture and transgranular fracture were promoted. The formation of oxide layer was found to have minimized the hot ductility of the Kovar alloy significantly. Grain boundary micro-cracks in the internal oxide region were noted following deformation due to high temperature, one of which acting as a notch that caused the poor hot workability of the oxidized specimen. The addition of Mo to the Kovar alloy could also retard the decrease in the hot ductility of the oxidized specimen through the prevention of notching due to internal oxidation. Hot ductility was remarkably improved by the addition of Boron. The improvement of hot ductility results from the grain boundary migration mainly due to the dynamic recrystallization at lower temperature range ($900{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$).

와이어 펄스전해가공에서 반응표면분석법을 응용한 미세박판의 홀 가공 최적 조건에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Conditions of Hole Machining of Microplate by Application of Response Surface Methodology in Wire-Pulse Electrochemical Machining)

  • Due to the inaccuracy of micro-machining, various special processing methods have been investigated recently. Among them, pulse electrochemical machining is a promising machining method with the advantage of no residual stress and thermal deformation. Because the cross section of the wire electrode used in this study is circular, wire-pulse electrochemical machining is suitable for micro-hole machining. By applying the response surface methodology, the experimental plan was made of three factors and three levels: machining time, duty factor, and voltage. The regression equation was obtained through experiments. Then, by referring to the main effect diagram, we fixed the duty factor and machining time with little relevance, and solved the equation for the target 900 microns to obtain the voltage value. The results obtained from the response surface methodology were approximately those of the target value when the actual experiment was carried out. Therefore, it is concluded that the optimal conditions for hole processing can be obtained by the response surface methodology.

In order to predict the roll wear, the wear model is reformulated as an incremental form and then wear depth of roll is calculated at each deformation step on contact area using the results of finite element analysis, such as relative sliding velocity and normal pressure at contact area. Archard's wear model was applied to predict the roll wear. To know the thermal softening of DCI (Ductile Cast Iron) roll according to operating conditions, high temperature micro hardness test is executed and a new wear model has been proposed by considering the thermal softening of DCI roll expressed in terms of the main tempering parameter curve. 3D wear program developed in this study might be used for adjusting the gap of rolls to set up a suitable rolling schedule for keeping dimensional tolerance of the product.
