정전기력 구동소자를 이용한 MEMS 소재의 탄성특성 및 미세파손특성 평가 (Assessment of Elastic and Microfailure Properties of MEMS Materials Using Electrostatically Operated Test Device)

  • To evaluate elastic and micro-failure properties of MEMS materials, the electro-statically operated test devices were designed and fabricated by micro machining technology. The test structures consist or comb drives for loading and suspending beams in testing. From the analysis of beam displacement based on elastic beam theory, elastic modulus and yield strength of Al film were measured. And, by introducing the micro notch and cyclic loading, the micro-failure was Induced and the micro-fracture toughness of Si film was evaluated. Moreover, the cycles to failure were estimated from the degradation of resonant frequency. Finally, the effects of notch on micro failure were discussed.

  • Owing to remarkable development in automotive industry, vehicle performance comes close to perfection and guarantee of stability is getting emphasized in accordance with high speed trend in vehicle. In recent years, the utilization of automatic test method for research and development of automotive brake system is being propelled actively, which pursue whole automatic control from simple measurement to data acquisition. The main subject of this paper is to make a brief explanation on Micro computer controlled Automatic Test Method for Automotive Brake System which makes it possible to test with high accuracy and speed.

마이크로핀관의 확관 전후 열전달 및 압력강하 변화 특성에 관한 연구 (Evaporation Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop in Micro-Fin Tubes Before and After Tube-Expansion)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of the micro-fin tubes before and after the tube-expansion process. Test tubes are single-grooved micro-fin tubes made of copper with an outer diameter of 9.52 mm before the tube-expansion. The direct heating method is applied in order to make the refrigerant evaporated in the micro-fin tubes. The test ranges of the heat flux, mass flux, and the saturation pressure are 5 to 15kW/$m^2$, 100 to 200 kg/$m^2s$ and 540 to 790 kPa, respectively. The effects of the mass flux, heat flux, and the saturation pressure of the refrigerant on the pressure drop and the heat transfer are presented for the refrigerant R22. In the test conditions of this study, the heat transfer coefficient for the micro-fin tube after the tube-expansion is about 16.5% smaller than that before the tube-expansion because the fin height of micro-fin is reduced and the fin shape becomes flatter. The micro-fin tube after the tube-expansion has about 7.7% greater average pressure drop than that before the tube-expansion process.

  • Several test methods, including micro strain/deformation measurement techniques, have been studied to more reliably measure the micro properties in micro/nano materials. Therefore, in this study, the continuous measurement of in-plane tensile strain in micro-sized specimens of thin film materials was introduced using the micro-ESPI technique. TiN and Au thin films 1 and $0.47\;\mu{m}$ thick, respectively, were deposited on the silicon wafer and fabricated into the micro-sized tensile specimens using the electromachining process. The micro-tensile loading system and micro-ESPI system were developed to measure the tensile strain during micro-tensile test. The micro-tensile stress-strain for these materials was determined using the algorithm for continuous strain measurement. Furthermore, algorithm for enhancing the sensitivity to measurement of in-plane tensile strain was suggested. According to the algorithm for enhancement of sensitivity, micro-tensile strain data between interfringe were calculated. It is shown that the algorithm for enhancement of the sensitivity suggested in this study makes the sensitivity to the in-plane tensile strain increase.

  • This paper presents the principle and fabrication of a novel micro mass spectrometer and emission test of hot electron for ionization. A micro mass spectrometer consists of a micro ion source and a micro ion separator. The micro ion source consists of a hot filament and grid electrodes. Electrons emitted from a hot filament are to ionize some sample molecules. The ions are accelerated to an ion detector by an electric field. Mass can be analyzed by using the time of fight depending on the mass-to-charge ratio. The current of hot electron emission from the hot filament is measured for various input voltages.

  • 고무입자로 강인화된 폴리카보네이트의 강인화 메커니즘을 연구하기 위하여 synchrotron X-선을 이용한 소각 X-선 산란법을 이용하여 실시간으로 변형 과정에서의 폴리카보네이트 내의 micro-void의 생성과 성장과정을 조사하였다. 시료는 직경 $0.3{\mu}m$의 가교화된 아크릴 고무입자로 강인화된 폴리카보네이트이며 wedge test 방식으로 시료에 변형을 가하면서 X-선을 조사하여 산란빔의 세기 변화를 살펴보았다. 변형이 증가함에 따라 산란빔의 세기가 증가하며 이는 폴리카보네이트 매트릭스 내의 micro-void의 생성에 의한 것으로 추정된다. 이러한 micro-void는 폴리카보네이트 매트릭스 내부에 생선된 것으로서 이는 고무입자와 매트릭스간의 계면분리 현상이나 고무입자 내부의 cavitation에 의한 void는 아닌 것으로 추정된다. 이 micro-void는 큰 void들과는 달리 특정한 변형 정도에 이르러 일정한 크기를 갖고 생성되기 시작하며 변형 정도가 증가하여도 그 크기는 증가하지 않고 단지 그 양만이 계속적으로 증가함을 알 수 있다.

  • Good's lambda test, a permutation test used to detect the changes of microorganism composition under two pathological conditions, has been quite popular for studying the micro-flora responsible for periodontal disease. A vast number of different micro-flora in the mouth renders the traditional chi-square test inapplicable. The main purpose of this paper is to evaluate the power of this test so that the sample size can be determined at the design stage. The robustness of this test and its comparison to two other intuitive tests are also presented. It is found that a permutation test based on likelihood ratio is more powerful than the lambda test in our simulated cases.

  • As the deposits of natural sands have slowly been depleted, it has resulted in an increase in manufactured fine aggregate (MFA). Standard specifications for fine aggregate for concrete contained in KS F 2558 permit a maximum of 7 percent finer than the No. 200 sieve (75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$). Since the production process for MFA normally generates 10 to 20 percent of micro fines-which is defined as aggregates passing the No. 200 sieve (75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$)-more than permitted by specifications, Excess fines must be removed by screening and/or washing operations. The amount of by-products will continue to grow as production increases with environmental discharge restrictions. This fundamental study focuses on experimental research for the adequacy of use of micro fines included in crushed aggregate using methylene blue test. Total of 63 types of sands from seven different rocks were tested. Based on the test results, the methylene blue test was turned out to be a good indicator of the quality of micro fines for concrete and a supplementary article and an amendment of the KS standard were recommended.

  • Performance analysis and test of a 50kW micro gas turbine is carried out. The present study was initiated in 1996 by KIMM researchers to develope a 50kW class turbogenerator gas turbine engine for hybrid vehicle propulsion system. but with its low emission and compactness, it seemed that it can also be applied as a source of distributed power generation. In this study, general description of the KIMM's efforts to acquire performance test skills of the self-made 50kW micro gas turbine engine. At present, non-load performance test up to 615000 rpm was accomplished and is expected to make through 80,000 rpm by the end of year. Several revisions in design and manufacture were made during the course of experiments. The resulting outputs is thought to be valuable for the further refinement of the system for eventual commercialization of the product.

나노인프로세스 형상계측 및 미세가공용 프로브의 개발 (Development of a New Probe to Realize Nano/Micro Mechanical Machining and In-Process Profile Measurement)

  • In this paper, a new nano/micro-mechanical processing test machine was developed. This new test machine, which is based on the principle of the scanning force controlled probe microscope, can realize nano/micro-mechanical machining and in-process profile measurement. Experimental results of nano/micro indentation and scratching show that the controllable cutting depth of the test machine can be controlled by PZT actuator. Profile measurement of the machined surface has also been performed by using the test machine and a conventional AFM(Atomic Force Microscopy). A good agreement of the two measurement results have been achieved.
