  • PBFT (Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerant) is a consensus algorithm that can achieve consensus by resolving unintentional and intentional faults in a distributed network environment and can guarantee high performance and absolute finality. However, as the size of the network increases, the network load also increases due to message broadcasting that repeatedly occurs during the consensus process. Due to the characteristics of the PBFT algorithm, it is suitable for small/private blockchain, but there is a limit to its application to large/public blockchain. Because PBFT affects the performance of blockchain networks, the industry should test whether PBFT is suitable for products and services, and academia needs a unified evaluation metric and technology for PBFT performance improvement research. In this paper, quantitative evaluation metrics and evaluation frameworks that can evaluate PBFT family consensus algorithms are studied. In addition, the throughput, latency, and fault tolerance of PBFT are evaluated using the proposed PBFT evaluation framework.

  • Background: Self-reported low back pain (LBP) has been evaluated in relation to material handling lifting tasks, but little research has focused on relating quantifiable stressors to LBP at the individual level. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Composite Lifting Index (CLI) has been used to quantify stressors for lifting tasks. A chemical exposure can be readily used as an exposure metric or stressor for chemical risk assessment (RA). Defining and quantifying lifting nonchemical stressors and related adverse responses is more difficult. Stressor-response models appropriate for CLI and LBP associations do not easily fit in common chemical RA modeling techniques (e.g., Benchmark Dose methods), so different approaches were tried. Methods: This work used prospective data from 138 manufacturing workers to consider the linkage of the occupational stressor of material lifting to LBP. The final model used a Bayesian random threshold approach to estimate the probability of an increase in LBP as a threshold step function. Results: Using maximal and mean CLI values, a significant increase in the probability of LBP for values above 1.5 was found. Conclusion: A risk of LBP associated with CLI values > 1.5 existed in this worker population. The relevance for other populations requires further study.

  • Impact noise is induced in a car when it is driven on a harsh road or over some bumps. This noise occurs with the very high level of sound, which affects passengers in some way or other. Although it is impossible to clearly remove such noise. It is necessary to research an improvement in sound quality for impact noise. A new sound metric for impact sound is presented in the previous work. This metric is verified by comparison between mean subjective ratings and several sound metrics. In this paper, more objective attributes are considered, which are the attributes expressing the level and modulation of sound. Three sound metrics are employed to get impact sound indexes for each course by the method of multiple linear regressions. The indexes are verified by considering the correlation between the estimated values from the multiple linear regressions and the mean subjective ratings by evaluators. Also, the subjective ratings on the indexes are estimated for the case in which some parts of suspension system are changed. The estimated ratings represent more reasonable or acceptable ratings. Thus, such indexes can be used for modification of the parts of suspension system under considering a good sound quality.

  • Today, the use of a vacuum cleaner gave us the higher quality of life than past time, but sometimes made us w1comfortable in the house because of the specific noise that is annoying. So we need to study how sound absorbtion materials affect sound power level and sound quality with sound metrics. In this paper, we will measure and calculate sound power level for vacuum cleaner and analyze characteristics of the noise for 10 Signals according to materials positioned in vacuum cleaner. The multiple regression analysis can estimate the nonlinear characteristics of relation between subjective evaluation and sound metrics. So we will develop sound quality index for vacuum sound.

  • This study proposes the analysis and evaluation of method of time series of ultrasonic signal using the chaotic feature extraction for ultrasonic pattern recognition. The features are extracted from time series data for analysis of weld defects quantitatively. For this purpose, analysis objectives in this study are fractal dimension, Lyapunov exponent, and strange attractor on hyperspace. The Lyapunov exponent is a measure of rate in which phase space diverges nearby trajectories. Chaotic trajectories have at least one positive Lyapunov exponent, and the fractal dimension appears as a metric space such as the phase space trajectory of a dynamical system. In experiment, fractal(correlation) dimensions and Lyapunov exponents show the mean value of 4.663, and 0.093 relatively in case of learning, while the mean value of 4.926, and 0.090 in case of testing in slag inclusion(weld defects) are shown. Therefore, the proposed chaotic feature extraction can be enhancement of precision rate for ultrasonic pattern recognition in defecting signals of weld zone, such as slag inclusion.

  • Since human listening is very sensitive to sound, a subjective index of a sound quality is required. Therefore, in the analysis for each situation, the sound evaluation is composed with sound quality factor. Many researchers spends their effort to make a more reliable and more accurate of sound in term of sound quality index for various system noise. In this study a reliable index is constructed and analyzed using correlation analysis, regression analysis and weighting factor for each sound quality factor. We have made the sound quality index that agrees with more than human subjective sensitivity which apply to various sound quality metrics. Also we applied a 'grade' metric to jury for sound evaluation, analyzed relation between sound duality index and sound quality grade. Then we will judge the sound quality level according to the sound quality grade scheme.

  • Divers types of Personal Mobility(PM) are appeared on the market after the Segway is introduced. PMs have propagated very rapidly with their ease of use, and accidents related with PM show a sudden increase. Many studies on the PM are performed as its trend, but dring safety of passengers are excluded. In this study, criteria which can be adopted for PM's driving safety evaluation are reviewed. Also result of driving safety evaluation on 3 types of PM(wheel chair, kickboard, scooter(seating/standing) and walking using deducted criteria is given. COG(Center of the gravity) and SM(Stability Metric) are finally selected two criteria among many of them used in other fields. COG indicates how the center of mass deviates from the direction of the gravity. SM is a normalized value of generated force when PM moves as internal force, angular momentum, and ground reaction force. 0 means stop, and negative value means rollover, so it can be used for safety evaluation of PM. Average and standard deviation of measurement are standard of safety on the COG analysis. Wheel chair is the most safe and kickboard is the most unstable on the COG analysis. Wheel chair is also ranked as top safe on the SM analysis. Among two riding types(seating and standing) on the scooter, seating type is evaluated more safer than standing type. It is proposed that more various type of PMs are need to get safety evaluation for drivers and devices themselves together.

  • The types of industrial software are classified into package, embedded and system type. The Package type software means industrial ERP, the embedded software is built in industrial devices and the system type software controls the manufacturing and production system, In this paper, we described about the development of evaluation modules which can implement quality test and evaluation fur industrial embedded software. If you are planning to enhance the objectivity and the validity of evaluation modules, it is necessary to construct the system based on international standard. There are two international standard, ISO/IEC 12119 and ISO/IEC 9126 related to quality evaluation of software. Also ISO/IEC 14598-6 is the standard that defines the construction form of the evaluation modules. Based on these standards, We extracted the quality requirements of industrial embedded software and constructed the evaluation modules that can evaluate the content level of the quality requirements.

  • SmartThings is one of the most popular open platforms for home automation IoT solutions that allows users to create their own applications called SmartApps for personal use or for public distribution. The nature of openness demands high standards on the quality of SmartApps, but there have been few studies that have evaluated this thoroughly yet. As part of software quality practice, code reviews are responsible for detecting violations of coding standards and ensuring that best practices are followed. The purpose of this research is to propose systematically designed quality metrics under the well-known Goal/Question/Metric methodology and to evaluate the quality of SmartApps through automatic code reviews using a static analysis. We first organize our static analysis rules by following the GQM methodology, and then we apply the rules to real-world SmartApps to analyze and evaluate them. A study of 105 officially published and 74 community-created real-world SmartApps found a high ratio of violations in both types of SmartApps, and of all violations, security violations were most common. Our static analysis tool can effectively inspect reliability, maintainability, and security violations. The results of the automatic code review indicate the common violations among SmartApps.
