Oxovanadium(IV) complexes with salicylaldoxime, o-vanilline oxime, 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldoxime, 2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldoxime and 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldoxime were synthesized. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, electric conductivity measurement, infrared spectrometry, electronic spectrometry, mass spectrometry, and thermal analysis. The results of elemental analysis were well coincided with the theoretical values. The values of molar conductance of the complexes in DMF implicated that the complexes were non-electrolyte. The characteristic stretching frequency of V=O appeared strong band in the range of $980{\pm}20\;cm^{-1}.$ All the complexes showed two d-d transition in visible spectra and two charge transfer transitions in ultraviolet spectra. Results of mass spectrometry of $VO(sal)_2\;and\;VO(van)_2$ indicated two peaks corresponding to vanadium containing ion(I) of 1 : 2(metal to ligand) chelate and a fragment ion(II) of 1 : 1 chelate due to loss of ligand radical from ion(I). The thermal analysis showed the endothermic peak due to the thermal decomposition.
The chemical behavior of the transition metal (Nb4+ and Mo4+) complexes with organoligand (dichloro-bis(η-cyclopentadienyl) has been investigated by the UV/vis-spectrophotometric, magnetic, and electrochemical method. The two or three energy absorption bands are observed by the spectra of these complexes. The magnitude of crystal field splitting energy, the spin pairing energy and bond strength was obtained from the spectra of the complexes. These are found to be delocalization, low-spin state, and strong bonding strength. The magnetic dipolemoment are found to be paramagnetic and diamagnetic complexes. The redox reaction processes of complexes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry in aprotic media. As a result the redox reaction proceses of Nb-C complex was couple-single reaction with diffusion and reaction current one electron process, and also Mo-C complex was couple-single reaction with reaction current of one electron process.
The $d^8$-transition metal complexes containing diphosphine, $MCl_2PP$ were prepared by using $K_nMCl_m$ as starting materials, wherein M were Ni(II), Pd(II), Pt(II) and Au(III) and PP were bis(diphenylphosphino)methane(dppm), bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane(dppe), bis(diphenylphosphino)propane (dppp) and bis(diphenylphosphino)ethylene(dppety). The complexes were characterized by the spectral property $(^H-NMR$, $^{31}P-NMR$ and UV-Visible spectra) together with elemental analysis. The complexes were tested for the catalytic activity on the formation reactions of 3(2H)-furanone and cyclic carbonate. The only Ni(II)- and Pd(II)-diphosphine complexes displayed a good catalytic effects in the production of 3(2H)-furanone from 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol [reaction (1)]. But all the diphosphine complexes as catalyst were almost inactive towards cyclic carbonate production preaction [reaction (2)].
The formation constants of the mixed-ligand complexes in the Cd(II), Cu(II) and Pb(II)-Trien-OH system were studied by polarograph. The formation constant $(log{\beta}_{ij})$ was determined at $25^{\circ}C$ in the ionic strength of 0.1. It was also confirmed that the mixed ligand complexes in this system were formed above pH 10.2, 10.5 and 9.0 for Cu(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II) by the calculation of the distribution for complexes at the various pH. Masking of Cd(II) by conversion to anionic EDTA-complexes has been used to separate Cu(II) from Cd(II) through passage of a combined Trien-EDTA solution on an cationic resin column. The optimal condition for the separation of Cu(II) from Cd(II) is confirmed at the pH range above 9.0, not only by considering the theoretical equation of the conditional-exchange-constant of metal on the cation exchange resin, but also by calculating the distribution of the mixed ligand complexes in the resin at the various pH with computer. By analyzing the synthetic sample of Cu(II) and Cd(II) with a EDTA masking at pH 9.5, it is found that the results of the experiment are satisfied with the theoretical value.
The several fundamental parameters on the solvent extraction of Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with dithizone were investigated. The value of $K_{a1}/K_p$ of dithizone(at $25^{\circ}C$) between an aqueous phase and a chloroform was found to be $4.72{\times}10^{-11}$. And the mole ratios of metal ion to dithizone in its metal complexes were determined by mole ratio method. The extractibilities(%) for metal-dithizone chelates were obtained from the extraction equilibria of metal-dithizone complexes between an aqueous phase and a chloroform as follows. Co(II) : 92.3% at pH 8.0 : Cu(II) : 97.1% at pH 4.0 and Zn(II) : 99.0% at pH 7.0. And also, in optimum experimental conditions the extraction constants of Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) were examined.
Some nickel(II) complexes have been derived from the condensation of isonitrosobenzoylacetone and diamine(ethylenediamine and propylenediamine) in the presence of metal ion. It is suggested that an isonitroso group(=N-O) of the ligand coordinates to metal through nitrogen atom to form a five-membered ring while other =N-O coordinates to metal through oxygen atom to form a six-membered ring in Ni(IBN)$_2$-en ((IBA)$_2$-en = N,N'-propylenebis(isonitrosobenzoylacetone imino)). But both isonitroso groups of the ligand coordinate to metal through nitrogen atoms to form five-membered rings in Ni(IBA)$_2$-pn ((IBA)$_2$-pn = N,N'-propylenebis(isonitrosobenzoylacetone imino)).
Feeding trials using weanling pigs and broiler chicks were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of different metal-amino acid chelates and complexes at various levels of copper and zinc on the performance and fecal excretions. A total of 200 weanling pigs (Large White ${\times}$ Yorkshire ${\times}$ Duroc, $11.20{\pm}0.81kg$) were randomly assigned to 5 dietary treatments following a randomized complete block design. Each treatment was replicated 4 times with 10 pigs per pen. The dietary treatments were designated as : A-diet containing 170 ppm Cu from $CuSO_4$ and 120 ppm Zn from $ZnSO_4$, B-diet containing 85 ppm Cu from Cu-amino acid chelate (CAC) and 60 ppm Zn from Zn-amino acid chelate (ZAC), C-diet containing 170 ppm Cu from CAC and 120 ppm Zn from ZAC, D-diet containing 85 ppm Cu from Cu-lysine complex (CL) and 60 ppm Zn from Zn-methionine complex (ZM), and E-diet containing 170 ppm Cu from CL and 120 ppm Zn from ZM. On the other trial, 144 of one day old broiler chicks were randomly distributed to 6 dietary treatments following a completely randomized design. Each treatment was replicated 3 times with 8 chicks per replicate. The dietary treatments were as follows: 1-diet with 60 ppm Cu from $CuSO_4$ and 40 ppm Zn from $ZnSO_4$, 2-diet with 120 ppm Cu from $CuSO_4$ and 80 ppm Zn from $ZnSO_4$, 3-diet with 60 ppm Cu from CAC and 40 ppm Zn from ZAC, 4-diet with 120 ppm Cu from CAC and 80 ppm Zn from ZAC, 5-diet with 60 ppm Cu from CL and 40 ppm Zn from ZM, and 6-diet with 120 ppm Cu from CL and 80 ppm Zn from ZM. In Exp. 1 with pigs, there was no difference on average daily gain and average daily feed intake observed among treatments. There was improvement (p<0.05) on the overall feed conversion ratio (FCR) of pigs fed diet containing 120 ppm Zn and 170 ppm Cu from metal-amino acid chelates relative to those fed diet containing inorganic sources of Cu and Zn but equally efficient as those fed diet containing metal-amino acid complexes. Pigs fed diet containing either metal-amino acid chelates or complexes as sources of Cu and Zn had higher (p<0.05) Cu and Zn concentration in serum and lower (p<0.05) in feces than those receiving diet with inorganic sources. In Exp. 2 with broiler chicks, the overall FCR was not different among treatments. Higher (p<0.05) Cu and Zn concentration in serum was obtained from birds fed diet with 60 ppm Cu and 40 ppm Zn from metal-amino acid chelates compared to those fed diet with inorganic sources of Cu and Zn. Also, the feces collected from birds fed diet with either metal-amino acid chelates or complexes contained generally lower Cu and Zn than those birds fed diet with inorganic sources. The higher the dietary level of Cu and Zn the higher the Cu and Zn concentration in the feces. Based on the results, both metal-amino acid chelates and complexes of Cu and Zn at low levels (Zn 60 ppm, Cu 85 ppm for weanling pigs and Zn 40 ppm, Cu 60 ppm for broiler chicks) are not different from that of high levels of inorganic sources in maintaining growth performance and serum concentration. The fecal excretions for Cu and Zn were greatly reduced when organic sources were used.
We investigated the interaction between polyynes (linear carbon chains) and various metal nanoparticles (Ag, Au, and Cu) to provide insight into the optical properties of metal-polyynes systems prepared by different experimental techniques. Polyynes were produced by laser ablation in deionized water, metal nanoparticles solutions, and copper chloride solution. Metal nanoparticles complexes with polyynes were analyzed by Raman, surface-enhanced Raman scattering, and UV-vis spectroscopy.

The anodization of ADC12 aluminum alloy was investigated in the metal anionic acid media. Anodic oxide films containing foreign elements were formed on ADC12 Al alloy by anodization in the anion complex solution. Furthermore, the rough surface and cracks were considerably smoothened by the deposit of metal anions. When the size of metal anion was small, relatively large amount of metal anions was loaded in anodic films. Existence of $MoO_3$, $TiO_2$ and MgO was confirmed by XPS. According to the results of Tafel analysis, Mo oxide represented the most noble anti-corrosion potential due to $MoS_2$ formation. Corrosion current densities were generally higher than that of pristine anodic oxide without anion complexes.

2,2¢-Dihydroxyazobenzene (DHAB) was attached to poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) to obtain DHAB-PEI. Spectral titration revealed that uranyl, Fe(III), Cu(II), and Zn(II) ion form 1 : 1-type complexes with DHAB attached to PEI. Formation constants for the metal complexes formed by the DHAB moieties of DHAB-PEI were mea-sured by using various competing ligands. The results indicated thatthe concentrations of uranyl, Fe(III), and Cu(II) ions can be reduced to 10 -16 -10 -23 M at p 8 with DHAB-PEI when the concentration of the DHAB moiety is 1 residue M. By using cyanuric chloride as the coupling reagent, DHAB-PEI was immobilized on Sephadex G-25 resin to obtain DHAB-PEI-Seph. Binding of uranyl,Fe(III), Cu(II), and Zn(II) ion by DHAB-PEI-Seph was characterized by using competing ligands. A new method has been developed for characteriza-tion of metal sequestering ability of a chelating resin. Formation constants and metal-binding capacity of two sets of binding sites on the resin were estimated for each metal ion. DHAB-PI-Seph was applied to recovery of metals such as uranium,Fe, Cu, Zn, Pb, V, Mn, and W from seawater. The uranium recovery from seawaterby DHAB-PEI-Seph does not meet the criterion for economical feasibility partlydue to interference by Fe and Zn ions. The seawater used in the experiment was contaminated by Fe and Zn and, therefore, the efficiency of uranium extractionfrom seawater with DHAB-PEI-Seph could be improved if the experiment is carried out in a cleaner sea.
