This paper alms to describe the indoor-outdoor air quality in school environment through the analyses of heavy metal concentration by inductively Coupled Plasma(ICPI, which were observed at some school environment, such as traffic area, industrial area seme-industrial area, and residence area. The results are as follows : (1) Regardless Indoor and outdoor, the area with the highest concentration of heavy metal is industrial area followed by traffic area, residence area and semi-industrial area in descending order of magnitude. And the heavy metal concentration of indoor is higher than that of outdoor. (2) The main heavy metal components with more high level concentration of Indoor than those of outdoor are Zn, Al, Ca and these heavy metal concentrations are higher in class than In corridor and outdoor.
Synthesis of carbon nanomaterials on a metal substrate by an ethylene fueled inverse diffusion flame was illustrated. Stainless steel plates were used for the catalytic metal substrate. The effects of catalyst metal particles were investigated through $Fe(NO_3){_3}$ (ferric nitrate, nonahydrate) and $Ni(NO_3){_2}$ (nickel nitrate, hexahydrate). Carbon nanotubes and nanofibers with diameters of $30{\sim}70nm$ were found on the substrate for the case of using SUS304 substrates only and using them with metal nitrates. In case of using metal nitrates, due to the easy activation of the metal particles, the formation and growth of carbon nanomaterials were occurred in the lower temperature region than that of using SUS304 substrates only.
Metal(Zinc) soap and mixed metal(Zn/Ba) soap were synthesized with good structures and characterized by IR and H-NMR. The H-NMR spectrums of the synthesized soaps were in very good accordance with the structures proposed by earlier workers. The mixed metal soaps with various costabilizers(acid or metal content effect), which added in order to investigate the thermal stabilization effect at low and high temperature, were investigated the thermal stabilization effect. The temperature effect is relation to the metal content effect than acid effect. In case of mixed metal soap, the high thermal stabilization effect improved with increasing Barium content. As the Zinc content increase the low temperature thermal stabilization effect improved, but the high temperature thermal stabilization effect showed an opposite tendency.
This research employed a senescence-accelerated mouse(SAM) to explore the possibility that differences exits among the major antioxidants, superoxid dismutase(SOD), in terms of ability to protect such animal treated with Cu, Fe and Mn. To assess the antioxidants function of metal ions on SAM-R/1 and SAM-P/8 were administered with Cu, Fe and Mn orally. The effect of metal ions on SAM towards reversing oxygen sensitivity was determined as a bioassays of SOD in the mouse liver. The data show that the SOD activity was induced by each metal ions in both SAM-R/1 and SAM-P/8. It suggested that induced SOD by each metal ions may protect against oxidative mediated stress. Finally, overall data lead to the possibility of metal ions as an antioxidants or each metal ions act producer of oxygen radicals in the liver of SAM-R/1 and SAM-P/8.
In this study, the relationship between metals (Cu, Cr, Cd, Zn. Pb, and Fe) 5 fractions and toxicity of soil samples from various contaminated sites in Korea were investigated. Metal toxicity of soils was tested using MetPLATE$^{TM}$ test kit, which is known as metal sensitive and organic insensitive. Significant amount of Fe was found in soils, and metal contents were in the order of Fe>Zn>Pb>Cu>Cr>Cd. Metal levels in organic fraction were rather high for all metals except Fe, and quite high percentages (35~79%) for residual fraction were observed for all metals. There were no significant relationships between the content of each metal fraction and toxicity which showed regression $R^2$in the range of 0.0003~0.414. However, correlation between toxicity and total metal contents showed regression coefficient $R^2$= 0.72. These results showed that the risk evaluation of metals in contaminated sites should be difficult to assess only by the contents of metal distribution because of the complexity of mixture of various metals.s.

Due to the strength and biocompatibility requirement, the stainless steel SUS 316L is widely used for trauma internal fixation device. SUS 316L can be hardened and strengthened only by cold work. In this work, the material compression test is performed both in laboratory and computer simulation by a FEM analysis software DEFORM to correlate the hardness to strain. This data is then used for preform design and predict the hardness of the finish bone plate forging. Finally, we compared the hardness between the actual forging and computer analysis results. Although the predicted hardness from computer simulation. is 55HV higher than the final forging sample, we can get good compatibility on the hardening tendency of cold forging.
The purpose of this study was to evalute the corrosion resistance of chemically and thermally recycled metal brackets. In vivo, two types of recycled metal brackets and new brackets were directly bonded for 1 year, and then the microstructure of bracket surface was examined by S.E.M. (J.S.M.-840 Scanning Electron Microscope, Japan). The following results were obtained. 1) The microstructure of new and chemically recycled metal bracket surfaces showed regular structure without island formation and recrystallization; and after 1 year, the same appearance except some scratches. 2) The microstructure of thermally recycled metal bracket surfaces showed a beginning of island formation and recrystallization by annealing, and after 1 year, a typical corrosive appearance, completely island formation with some metal grains by recrystallization. 3) Chemically recycled metal brackets showed better corrosion resistance than thermally recycled metal brackets.
The effects of various metals on Field Aided Lateral Crystallization (FALC) behaviors of amorphous silicon (a-Si) were investigated. Under an influence of electric field, metals such s Cu, Ni and Co were found to fasten the lateral crystallization toward a metal-free region, exhibiting a typical FALC behavior while the lateral crystallization of a-Si was not obvious for Pd. However, Au, Al and Cr did not induce the lateral crystallization of a-Si in metal-free region. Such phenomenological differences in various metals were studied in terms of dominant diffusing species (DDS) in the reaction between metal and Si. It was judged that the applied electric field enhanced the crystallization velocity by accelerating the diffusion of metal atoms since the occurrence of lateral crystallization would be strongly dependent on the diffusion of metal atoms than that of Si atoms. Therefore, it was concluded that he only metal-dominant diffusing species in the reaction between metal and Si results in the crystallization of a-Si in metal-free region.
Poly(hydroxamic acid) resin beads were prepared and complexed with various metal ions. We used IR spectroscopy to investigate the structure of metal complex. It proved that the products formed by introduction of metal ions gave stable and colored complex. It was found that the resin bead as synthesized would be a good column packing material for continuous extraction. Energy dispersive spectroscopy was use to study the distribution of metal ions in the resin matrix. It could be tentatively concluded that adsorption and diffusion of metal ions in the chelating resins mainly depended on the loading of the resin matrix which indicated interacting sites with metal ions.
The influences of some casting conditions on bonding ratio and state at bonding zone of stainless steel-cast iron dual tube produced by centrifugal casting process were investigated to estimate fabrication technics. 1) Bonding ratio is increasing such as increasing of inner surface temperature of outer metal(stainless steel STS 304), if pouring temperature of inner metal (cast iron) is constant. 2) The more pouring temperature of inner metal (cast iron) increase, the more bonding ratio increase when inner surface temperature of outer metal (cast iron) is constant. 3) As the mold rotary speed is increase, the hatching area of bonding map (perfect bonding area) goes down to the low pouring temperature of inner metal. 4) In order to predict bonding state of two different metal, we are able to make and use the bonding map about casting conditions such as inner surface temperature of outer metal, pouring temperature of inner metal and mold rotary speed.
