  • Morning grooming is a ritual daily held for transition from private to public life of an individual. Based on the previous literature's definition of the ritual characteristics, this study aims to identify the meaning of grooming rituals that are repeatedly performed every morning. Although many studies have conducted ritualistic analysis of the behaviors that are closely related to daily life, few studies analyze grooming from a ritualistic perspective. Establishing the ritual - that is, a person's distinct behavioral pattern-as the core concept, this study reveals the relationship between ritual performers and the ritual's composition to identify the meaning of the grooming ritual. The study conducts qualitative research with ten participants to identify the ritual characteristics of every-morning grooming and the factors that influence this ritual. Considering everyday grooming as a behavioral pattern that possesses mostly ritualistic elements, the study examines both the external characteristics that are shown through the methods of grooming and the internal characteristics that reflect the inherent symbolic meaning. This study contributes to extending the scope of the field. By understanding the factors that influence grooming rituals, companies can communicate their marketing messages regarding the step-by-step approach to grooming, thereby supporting consumers to effectively use various grooming products.

  • As fashion magazines are important socialization influences, our purpose was to examine the content of articles in two teen magazines: one with a long publication history (Seventeen) and one relatively new market entry (Teen Vogue). We addressed the following questions: (1) What are the patterns of content of the feature articles? (2) How frequently is this content related to appearance management or fashion consumption? and (3) What, if any, differences exist in contents between the traditional teen magazine and the new market entry? A content analysis of 1,191 articles published during 2008 and 2009 revealed the largest percentage of content in both magazines was fashion. Other than the topic of fashion, Seventeen concentrated on teen life issues whereas Teen Vogue focused on celebrities. Understanding these are fashion publications, we suggest there are opportunities for both magazines to allocate further attention to other issues in the lives of teens in addition to beauty and consumption.

  • Spam refers to any unwanted or unauthorized commercial messages. Spam may violate individuals' privacy or other personal rights. Spam often overloads network traffic, wastes individuals' time, lowers productivity and quality of life, and limits the trustworthiness of Internet businesses. As the use of mobile messaging services and social networking services both on mobile communication networks and on the Internet increase, newer and more complex types of IT applications and services are often used as new means of spam. In this research, the characteristics and impact of new and future forms of spam, and anti-spam related policies and regulations are surveyed. To improve the effectiveness of anti-spam policies and regulations in Korea, adding a definition of spam in the law, changing policies to focus on the 'type of services' rather on the medium of transmission, and redefining the scope of 'commercial purposes' in Korean law are suggested.

  • Residential network is the hybrid technology of wireless, Ethernet, Bluetooth and RF to the internet via broadband connection at home to facilitate the convenient, safe and pleasant daily lives of home user with various home network services regardless of device, time and place. For ubiquitous development more devices will be wireless and most of them will be roaming. Since these roaming devices carry private information of daily life of residential users, the interaction among the roaming devices of residential network must be secure. This paper presents to secure registration of roaming devices using IP Security (IPSec) Protocol Suite without the need to trust foreign agents.

  • This paper proposes a message transfer application using smartphone with NFC(Near Field Communication) and GCM(Goolge Cloud Messaging) technology for prevention of personal information leakage. In implementing for the proposed system, we design a NFC-based vehicle status alerts service which make it possible to communicate with smartpone message without phone-number between a car driver and an unspecified person. The application provides message communication mechanism without exposing the real phone number, using the NFC tag written with the driver's smartphone device ID and GCM push messages. Through the evaluation result of the actual implemented application, the proposed system can be efficient technology in protection for leakage of personal information such as personal phone- number in daily life.

  • Gift-giving is a universal behavior that still awaits satisfactory interpretation by social scientists. Gift are generally given to others in order to symbolize and celebrate important life events and family relationships. I also paper that by means of the selection and tranceference of gifts on these occasions im-portant symbolic messages are ocnveyed be-tween the giver and the recipient. Especially it suggested that gift-giving in the family can be interpreted as a means for socialization of its members Although clothing has been reported to be a frequently-given gift in sev-eral countries little is known about clothing gifts. This paper presents a paradigm for the clothing gift-giving process. Components of the clothing gift-giving process. Components of the clothing gift-giving are givers gifts recipients and situations involved. The para-digm consists of four stages : prepurchase purchase presentation and postpresentation. Theoretical and methodological issues in cloth-ing gift-giving research will be suggested and should be tested empirically.

  • Supporting energy efficiency and load balancing in wireless sensor network is the most important issue in devising the hierarchical routing protocols. Recently, the dual layered clustering scheme with GPS was proposed for the supporting of load balancing for cluster heads but there would be many collided messages in the overlapped area between two layers. Thereby, the purpose of this paper is to reduce the collision rate in the overlapped layer by concisely distinguish them with the same number of nodes in them. For the layer partition, this paper uses an equation $x^2+ y^2{\le}(\frac{R}{\sqrt{2\pi}})^2$ to distinguish layers. By using it, the scheme could efficiently distinguish two layers and gets the balanced number of elements in them. Therefore, the proposed routing scheme could prolong the overall network life cycle about 10% compared to the previous two layered clustering scheme.

  • This study analyzed the contents of the articles related on Environment in Dong-a & chosun daily newspapers for one year lately. In this study the articles were classified by the theme categories season and nature of messages. Through the result of this study we can understand what were major issues and concerns related on environment lately. The findings can be summarized follows: 1. The identified 757 articles were categorized into eight theme categories. In each theme category the articles on Litter area were reported the most frequently. 2. Also there was no great difference among frequency of the articles by four season but in summer articles on environment were written more frequently and in spring the least. 3. The numbers of informative articles were more than that of directive articles. The recommendations of these results were suggested.

  • Distributing information on the internet is common in our daily life. In the past, e-mail has been the primary choice of exchanging information, but instant messengers are gaining popularity abroad and domestically because of their immediate responses. Instant messaging has become the fastest growing communication technology in recent years. Instant messaging is effectively a chat room for two people. Users that have accounts with the same provider are able to send messages via computer in real time. Instant messaging has exploded into the business world as companies now utilize the technology for everything from interoffice communication to client/customer communication. In this paper, we propose a method of instant messenger system design for effective collaboration of statistical data collection.

  • The heat shock response is a universal stress response observed in all organisms and cultured cells. The response is regulated at both the transcriptional and translational level. Heat shocked Drosophila melanogaster Kc cells are used as the system for the study of translational regulation. In this system non-heat shock messages are associated with polysome but are not translated in a heat shocked condition. To figure out the change in the translation machinery. the effects of translation elongation inhibitors were tested on Kc cells. The result showed that the sensitivity of translation to these drugs changed in heat shocked cells. The significant changes were the decreased inhibition of heat shock protein synthesis by cycloheximide, emetine. and puromycin. and the increased inhibition of heat shock protein synthesis by verrucarin A. implying that the translation elongation mechanism in heat shocked cells changed.
