  • In this paper, secure multicasting with the help of cooperative decode-and-forward relays is considered for the case in which a source securely sends a common message to multiple destinations in the presence of a single eavesdropper. We show that the secrecy rate maximization problem in the secure multicasting scenario under an overall power constraint can be solved using semidefinite programing with semidefinite relaxation and a bisection technique. Further, a suboptimal approach using zero-forcing beamforming and linear programming based power allocation is also proposed. Numerical results illustrate the secrecy rates achieved by the proposed schemes under secure multicasting scenarios.

  • A hierarchical tree structure of clusters has advantages for the network design due to its scalability and simple routing protocol. In this paper, the cluster tree routing protocol is studied for the wireless sensor network. From the numerical analysis results, the data aggregation in the intermediate nodes reduces the number of communication message and saves the energy of sensor nodes, but it may result in increased data traffic latency. And also the selection of cluster head can increase the relaying hops very high.

  • Decentralized group key management mechanisms offer beneficial solutions to enhance the scalability and reliability of a secure multicast framework by confining the impact of a membership change in a local area. However, many of the previous decentralized solutions reveal the plaintext to the intermediate relaying proxies, or require the key distribution center to coordinate secure group communications between subgroups. In this study, we propose a decentralized group key management scheme that features a mechanism allowing a service provider to deliver the group key to valid members in a distributed manner using the proxy cryptography. In the proposed scheme, the key distribution center is eliminated while data confidentiality of the transmitted message is provided during the message delivery process. The proposed scheme can support a secure group communication in dynamic network environments where there is no trusted central controller for the whole network and the network topology changes frequently.

  • This article presents a novel cooperative spectrum sharing (CSS) scheme. The primary transmitter transmits a complex Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal in the first phase, and CSS occurs in the second phase. The secondary transmitter with the largest forwarding channel gain among the nodes that successfully decode the primary signal in the first phase is selected for CSS. This selected node employs a pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM) signal for primary information message (IM) instead of the QAM signal, and it employs a modified PAM signal for the secondary IM. The proposed modified PAM signal depends on the amplitude of the primary PAM signal. This method results in no mutual interference and negligible primary interference constraint and allows a higher degree of exploitation of spatial diversity, thus enabling increase in secondary power to improve primary transmission. The outage performance is enhanced in both the primary and secondary systems. The critical region, in which the primary outage performance is enhanced with the proposed CSS scheme, can be adjusted and widened by varying either the modulation cooperation sharing factor or the number of secondary transmitters.

  • In this paper, we propose a simple bidirectional transmission protocol using network coding and digital Fountain codes. In particular, in the proposed scheme, two sources use digital Fountain codes to transmit their message to each other with the help of relays. Then, relays use Fountain codes and network coding to forward the source messages to both sources. To evaluate performance of the proposed protocols, we present the average total throughput over Rayleigh fading channels via Various Monte-Carlo simulations. Results show that the proposed protocol outperforms the two-way relaying transmission protocol without using network coding technique at high SNR region.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient grid based routing scheme using the location information in order to reduce the routing cost in mobile ad-hoc networks. In our proposed scheme, all nodes can be a candidate to forward messages to the specified destination node and reduce the management cost of head nodes because they do not exist. The intermediate nodes determine the next hop relaying messages on the basis of location relations between a node and a grid zone. The proposed scheme explores the routing path considering the direction of a node using the coordinate of a grid zone and neighbor node information. It also maintains the routing path considering connectivities among the nodes. In order to show the superiority of the proposed routing scheme, we compare it with the existing grid based routing scheme in terms of the overhead of message, the success rate of transmission.

  • In wireless networks, it is well-known that intermediate nodes can be used as cooperative relays to reduce the transmission energy required to reliably deliver a message to an intended destination. When the network is under a central authority, energy allocations and cooperative pairings can be assigned to optimize the overall energy efficiency of the network. In networks with autonomous selfish nodes, however, nodes may not be willing to expend energy to relay messages for others. This problem has been previously addressed through the development of extrinsic incentive mechanisms, e.g., virtual currency, or the insertion of altruistic nodes in the network to enforce cooperative behavior. This paper considers the problem of how selfish nodes can decide on an efficient energy allocation and endogenously form cooperative partnerships in wireless networks without extrinsic incentive mechanisms or altruistic nodes. Using tools from both cooperative and non-cooperative game theory, the three main contributions of this paper are (i) the development of Pareto-efficient cooperative energy allocations that can be agreed upon by selfish nodes, based on axiomatic bargaining techniques, (ii) the development of necessary and sufficient conditions under which "natural" cooperation is possible in systems with fading and non-fading channels without extrinsic incentive mechanisms or altruistic nodes, and (iii) the development of techniques to endogenously form cooperative partnerships without central control. Numerical results with orthogonal amplify-and-forward cooperation are also provided to quantify the energy efficiency of a wireless network with sources selfishly allocating transmission/relaying energy and endogenously forming cooperative partnerships with respect to a network with centrally optimized energy allocations and pairing assignments.
