The present study proposes a new structure for a flat plate heat pipe which could embody a thin thickness, any shapes and high heat density a unit area. It is on the structure for the formation of vapor passages and the support of the case of the flat plate heat pipe. A screen mesh is used as the one. To verify the validity of the one, the flat plate heat pipe of 1.08mm thickness was made with a layer of the screen mesh with 14 and 100 mesh number respectively and tested. Here the screen mesh with 14 mesh number plays a role of the vapor passage and the support of the case and the screen mesh with 100 mesh number functions as the wick structure. T he results show that the screen mesh excellently carries out the function of the vapor passage and the support of the case.

The purpose of the present study is to examine the heat transport limitations in a screen mesh heat pipe for electronic cooling by theoretical analysis. Diameter of pipe was 6mm, and mesh numbers were 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250, and water was investigated as working fluid. According to the change of mesh number, wick layer, inclination and saturation temperature, the maximum heat transport limitations by capillary, entraintment, sonic and boiling were analyzed by a theoretical design method of heat pipe, including capillary pressure, pumping pressure, liquid friction coefficient in wick, vapor friction coefficient, etc. Based on the results, the capillary limitation in a small diameter of heat pipe is largely affected by mesh number and wick layer. Mesh number of 250 is desirable not to be used in pipe diameter of 6 mm, because capillary heat transport limitation decreases by the abrupt increase of liquid friction pressure due to the small liquid flow area. For the heat transport of 15 watt in 6mm diameter pipe, mesh number of 100 and one layer is an optimum wick condition, which thermal resistance is the smallest.
The effect of agitation on the dispersion of organic phase was investigated in an immiscible liquid system (n-hexane/40 wt % p-TSA aqueous solution). Four different types of six-bladed turbine impellers were used : a flat blade type and three screen blade types. The experimental results showed that the extent of dispersion of organic phase at the same agitation speed was decreased in the order of flat blade, 60 mesh, 40 mesh, and 20 mesh screen blades. Otherwise, it was increased with increasing the concentration of TBA as a surfactant agent and with decreasing volume fraction of organic phase. Also, the minimum agitation speed for a complete dispersion was increased in the order of flat blade, 60 mesh, 40 mesh, and 20 mesh screen blades. However, the minimum power consumption did not vary significantly. In this condition, the relationship between Power number and Reynolds number was expressed as $N_p=a\;N_{Re}{^b}$, where the values of constant a and constant b were ranged 2200~4100 and -0.69~-0.63 respectively.
The objective of this research was to investigate the enhancement of heat transfer by mesh in water/air direct contact air conditioning system. Mesh is inserted as a turbulent promoter in front of the water injection nozzle. The heat transfer characteristics with and without mesh and the effect of the number of inserted mesh and mesh porosity size have been studied experimentally. Inserted mesh improves heat transfer efficiency compared to non-inserted mesh system and heat transfer efficiency increased as the number of mesh is increased. Meanwhile, heat transfer efficiency decreased as the porosity of the mesh is increased. With inserted mesh, inlet and outlet temperature difference of air increased more than 50%. Heat exchange time of water/air to reach the 100% humidity decreased less than 30%. This result shows inserted mesh can enhance the performance of the water/air direct contact air conditioning system.

We present the Shannon entropy as an indicator of the spatial resolutions of the morphologies of the resonance mode patterns in an optical resonator. We obtain each optimized number of mesh points, one of minimum size and the other of maximum one. The optimized mesh-point number of minimum size is determined by the identifiable quantum number through a chi-squared test, whereas the saturation of the difference between Shannon entropies corresponds to the other mesh-point number of maximum size. We also show that the optimized minimum mesh-point increases as the (real) wave number increases and approximates the proportionality constant between them.
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the capillary heat transportation limitation in heat pipe according to the change of screen mesh wick porosity. Diameter of pipe was 6 mm, and mesh numbers are 100, 150, 200 and 250 and water was selected as a working fluid. The effect of agitation on liquid-liquid dispersion was investigated in an immisible liquid phase(n-hexane/water) system. Four different types of six-bladed turbine impellers were used: a flat blade, two screen blades and a solid edged 60 mesh screen blade. We found that the extent of dispersion of organic phase and power consumption of agitator were decreased in the order of flat, solid edged, 60 mesh, and 40 mesh blades at same agitation speed. And the minimum agitation speed for complete dispersion of organic phase was increased with increasing volume fraction of organic phase. Also, mean diameter of liquid droplets of dispersed phase was decreased with increasing agitation speed and it was increased in the order of solid edged, flat, 60 mesh, and 40 mesh screen blades at same agitation speed. At complete dispersion, the minimum power consumption was not vary significantly with impeller blade types, but the solid edged screen blade impeller gave the smallest and uniform sizes of liquid droplets, and it had a good performance for liquid-liquid dispersion. In this condition, Power number was not affected by Reynolds number and it was constant in turbulent flow region, and Sauter mean diameter($d_{32}$) of liquid droplets was expressed as a function of volume fraction of organic phase(${\phi}$) and Weber number($N_{We}$) as follows: $d_{32}/D=a(1+b{\phi})N_{We}{^{-0.6}}$.
This study was performed to evaluate bone formation in the calvaria of rabbit by the concept of guided bone regeneration with titanium mesh membrane. Two different titanium meshes with varying number (353, 565) of pore were utilized in the study. Two surgical sites(T353, T565) were evaluated about whether or not the number of pore may have effect on the bone formation. The animal was sacrificed at 10days, 3 weeks, 6weeks, and 8 weeks after the surgery. Non-decalcified specimens were processed for histologic analysis. 1. Titanium mesh was biocompatible and capable of maintaining the spacemaking. 2. At 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and 8 weeks after GBR procedure, bone formation was more in the T353 site than in the T565 site. 3. Soft tissue layer above the regenerated bone was better developed in the T565 site. 4. There was no difference between two membranes in bone maturity with time. Within the above results, titanium mesh with lesser pore in number might be recommended for the early bone formation.

To examine the mesh selectivity and optimum mesh size of gill nets for silver promfret Pampus argenteus, the field experiments were carried out during June 27th to July 3rd, 2005 at the coastal area of Imja island. The experimental gill nets for silver promfret were used in two set, which one set was consisted of 12 sheets, and each set was connected alternatively four defferent sheets those were 141mm, 148mm, 155mm and 164mm in mesh size. The analysis of mesh selectivity curve was done by Kitahara's method. The total number of fishes caught by experimental fishing of gill nets for silver promfret was 1,409, and it was consisted of 1,022 silver promfrets(72.5%), 123 croakers(8.7%), 70 red tongue soles(5.0%), 67 blue crabs(4.8%), 22 red seabreams(1.6%), and 105 other fishes(7.4%). The number of fishes caught by the mesh size was 244 at mesh 141mm(mean 6.8/sheet), 261 at mesh 148mm(mean 7.3/sheet), 295 at mesh 155mm(mean 8.2/sheet) and 222 at mesh 164mm(mean 6.2/sheet). The body weight of fishes caught by the mesh size was 102.1kg at mesh 141mm(mean 2.8kg/sheet), 112.9kg at mesh 148mm(mean 3.1kg/sheet), 132.8kg at mesh 155mm(mean 3.7kg/sheet), and 100.4kg at mesh 164mm(mean 2.8kg/sheet). The value of maximum l/m on mesh selectivity curve and the value of l/m on the selection range of 50% was estimated at 1.91 and from 1.63 to 2.23, respectively. Therefore, the optimum mesh size of gill nets for silver promfret was estimated 135mm, and the total length at the selection range of 50% was from 220mm to 301mm. But, it will be useful to use the mesh size of gill nets which is about 10-15% larger than the estimated optimum mesh size of gill nets considering the number of fishes caught, body length and body weight etc.
