The purpose of this study is to review the symbolic meaning in 20th century men’s fashion through analyzing of social environment factors. After recent industrial society, men had expressed their privilege, prestige and social power according to fashion. Men's fashion at the beginning of the 20th century was emerged as the images of robustness and strictness with perfect cutting, thick and stick fabric and dark color that were influenced by british style. It was symbolic meaning of authority orientation which showed the superiorities of social and sex classes. It was beginning of change according to social phenomena. The world war Ⅰ,Ⅱ and change of lifestyle by material affluence in automobile industry mollified rules of men's fashion. It showed a serenity of living. Also, the growth of young culture changed trickle-down of men's fashion into bottom-up and showed opposition for elite culture in fashion. These change particularly became acceleration by Individualism, open-society and the collapse of sex class. Men expressed sexual and inherent desire for fashion that was no longer concerned with symbolizing of authority but rather with pleasure pursuit.
Purpose: We developed and tested the effects of a care program for dementia patients among community- dwelling older adult men. Methods: This study used a non-equivalent control group pre-and post-test design. To verify the effectiveness of the care program for dementia patients, 26 community dwelling older adult men participated in this study. We used multiple intervention strategies including improving understanding of dementia through education, activities for dementia prevention, and promoting psychological change. In particular, based on the current understanding of the care of the men older adults, we used strategies to promote motivation and reinforce strengths. Results: After completing the 6-week intervention program, when compared with the control group, older adult men in the care program intervention group showed significant differences in scores for the following: cognitive functions (p=.035), attitude toward dementia (p=.026), preventive behavior (p=.007), geriatric depression (p=.013), caring confidence (p=.018), and self-esteem (p=.013). Conclusion: These results indicate that the care program for dementia patients has positive effects on increasing their cognitive function, attitude toward dementia, preventive behavior, caring confidence, self-efficacy, and on decreasing depression rates in this population. Based on this, we can recommend this program to men caregivers for the improved care of dementia in community centers.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the quality of life(QOL) between middle-aged women and men. Method: In this study, we surveyed 482 middle-aged women and men living in Seoul aged between 40 and 64. Data were analyzed t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, and 2-way ANOVA. Results: There was no significant difference between satisfaction and importance of the life of middle-aged women and men of the overall. However, while the case of middle-aged women showed a significant difference in the emotional support from people who are not family members, middle-aged men showed significant differences between the importance and satisfaction of the life with spouse, the ability to take care of family responsibilities, sex life, energy(fatigue), personal appearance, and pain. In addition, the overall quality of life scores showed no gender difference between the middle-aged women and men but in the quality of life both genders, the family area of the sub-area showed high scores. Conclusion: It is suggested that further repetitive studies for middle-aged women and men are needed by using the same tool of this study and various health promotion programs based on the result of this study should be developed for middle-aged.

This study investigated the divorce and post-divorce adjustment of divorced men and women in their 20s and 30s and explored the sex differences. For this empirical analysis, the data was collected from 230 divorced men and women in their 20s and 30s who lived in the Seoul metropolitan area from Sep. 23rd to Oct. 20th, 2002. The questionnaire for the survey dealt with demographic information and other scales. The major findings of the research project were as follows: First, although men and women experienced a similar level of pre-divorce conflicts, women were more likely to want to divorce. Second, although women had worse physical and psychological condition and more difficult problems than men after divorce, women more readily accepted their divorce reality than men. Divorce was not the best but the second best way to escape from a bad marriage for women. The results of the current research are expected to contribute to the pre-marital preparation and divorce adjustment programs.

The findings are as follows. 1. The investigations into the average and standard deviation of the measurements and index values for the elderly men's feet showed a large personal difference in the items of length and circumference. 2. The factors constituting the elderly men's feet were observed to be the size of foot width(Factor 1), the central angle of feet and the extension of toes(Factor 2), the size of ankle(Factor 3), the positions of lateral malleolus and pternion(Factor 4), and the position and size of medial malleolus(Factor 5). 3. The cluster analysis for the classification of elderly men's feet produced three types of them.
Western designers have long been inspired by exotic and mysterious looks and feelings of non-western countries in their design works. The influence of Orientalism has been prevalent not only in fashion but also in overall aspects of Western cultures ad it dated back to the B.C period. Orientalism has been interpreted differently in different ages. Orientalism has been in effect since the strong emergence of Western powers beginning in the 13th century. There have been produced many studies to analyze the tradition of Western fashion under the framework of Orientalism, but most of them have focused on women's wear and the researches on men's wear have hardly been productive, particularly on men's skirts. This paper aims to analyze the restoration movement of men's skirt fashion in Western societies such as tin America and European countries from the standpoint of Orientalism and attempts to forecast its future. The paper shows how we can reveal the identity of the tradition of men's skirt in Western fashion by making a critical comparison between the pictures of western men's skirts and those found in the folk fashion tradition in non-western countries.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify predictors of coronary heart disease risk factors in healthy men and women. Method: The subjects of this study were 346 people (173 men and women aged 20 years and over) who received health screenings. Data was collected from December 1, 2005 to February 28, 2006. The FANTASTIC Lifestyle Assessment Inventory except smoking and the Framingham risk score of subjects were investigated. Data was analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS 10.0 program. Results: The mean score of the lifestyle of the women (64.24) was higher than that of the men (59.12). The mean score of the risk of coronary heart disease of the men (5.28%) was higher than that of the women (0.28%). The framingham risk for men was significantly related to lifestyle such as dietary habit, use of caffeine and drugs, anxiety and depression, job satisfaction, and closeness with family. The main predictors of framingham risk for men and women were 'use of caffeine and drugs', and 'menopause' which explained 16.5%, and 30.7% respectively. Conclusion: Since lifestyles can be changed with effort, coronary heart disease can be prevented while people are healthy.
