  • A new possibility for helping regional residents to establish the identity based on the history, culture and environment of the region and harmonizing art and culture in daily life can be seen from eco-museum. Unique cultural inheritances for each region exist not only in our nation but everywhere around the world, and Cheonan region is continuously attracting tourists from other regions as a home of the Independence Hall, Yu Gwan Sun Memorial, and live branches of independent activists with important inheritances such as tourist attractions and national treasures. However, despite unique environment of the region and inheritances with high academic values, lack of basic guides and explanations place the region in an environment that is difficult to approach. The purpose of this study is to systematically investigate regional inheritances based on the concept of eco-museum as an alternative for such problem recognition and to examine problems of inheritances scarred around Cheonan region based on their current status. The author of this study aims to analyze the investigated regional inheritances, rearrange their values and suggest possibilities for continued preservation and utilization.

Seowon of Sangju area were built from the middle of 17C to the beginning of 18C. Ideological background of building functioning were grafted into the belief in the three God governing Childbirth, the theory of feng-shui(wind-and water-magic) which is in close connection with the principles of yin and yang, and confucianism and the philosophy of lao-tze and chung-tze. The formation of space were horizontally arrangement and vertical arrangement as the first-learning and then-ancestor shrine of Youngnam provinces. 2. Background and factors of site selection were applied geographical feature, tried to connect owner home town. 3. The shape of path of flow were simple of vertical and curved composition, were continued, were stabilized through composition of human scale's space by reasonable internal. A case of Sangju area, D/H ratio of the front area of buildings and courts was as follows. D/H=1>Hyangkyo> houses on the river>temples>lecture halls. D/H ratio ot the backside areas is as follows. D/H=1>Hyangkyo>houses on the river>lecture halls. 4. Inner garden were planted deciduous than evergreen trees with Lagerstroemia indica. • This study aims to find out the norms and principles reflected in the spatial organization of royal tombs in the Chosun Dynasty through the modern interpretation of traditional oriental philosophy theory. We examined the characteristics of royal tomb sites including Jeshil(Shrine), Hongjunmun, tomb mound, ponds, and attached buildings employing an analysis of the spatial formation and landscape. This study covered 36 tombs of kings and queens in the Chosun Dynasty. The entire layout of royal tombs, including annexed buildings, was informal in may cases. This was due to following the natural contour rather than adhering to certain philosophical principles. The royal tomb site is divided into three zones. Jeshil and pond constitute a space for living people, visitors. Secondly, the semi-scared space includes the space from Hongjunmun to the entrance to the Chungjaka. The last space is for the dead, from the back of Chungjakak to tomb mound. This is in line with the layout of palaces of the Chosun Dynasty which is characterized by "three gates and three zones": outer yard-court yard- back yard. The size of the space for holding memorial ceremonies, from Hongjunmun to the Chungjakak entrance, was set at 900m until the early Chosun Dynasty. Since that time the distance varied according to the land topography due to the influence of metaphysics. It can be summarized that the spatial organization of royal tombs in the Chosun Dynasty is based on the Confucianism value, the natural contour of the site, and inner spiritual value.ual value.

  • Balhae(698~926) was the ancient state which opened the Nambuk-guk period with the Unified Silla. But Balhae architecture began to included in the history of Korean architecture only about 15 years ago, such as the books written by Yun Jang-seop or Ju Nam-cheol. I discussed four issues related to Balhae architecture in this paper. First, I criticized the excavation report of 24 stones remains at Jiangdong in Duhua city, and I asserted the ondol site belonged to different period. Second, I also interpreted that the building found on the tombs no.13 and no.14, in the Longhai burial area in Helong city must be a wooden stupa. Third, Balhae played some important roles in the history of ondol. It developed Koguryeo ondol in terms of structure, gave an opportunity to the ruling class to adopt ondol for the first time, and passed the heating system down to the Jurchen, the ancestor of the modern Manchurian. Fourth, the Russian-Korean joint research team excavated seven building sites in Koksharovka 1 fortress from Russian territory these four years, and it is reasonable to assume the fortress was the center of Anbyeon-bu, one of 15 local government districts in Balhae. I guess this buildings were the royal shrine built by resisters after the fall of Balhae, and the vessel stands found there must be used for ancestral memorial ceremony inside them.

  • This paper deals with artificial neural network approach for automatic detection of severity level of stator winding fault in induction motor. The problem is faced through modelling and simulation of induction motor with inter coil shorting in stator winding. The sum of the absolute values of difference in the peak values of phase currents from each half cycle has been chosen as the main input to the classifier. Sample values from workspace of Simulink model, which are verified with experiment setup practically, have been imported to neural network architecture. Consideration of a single input extracted from time domain simplifies and advances the fault detection technique. The output of the feed forward back propagation neural network classifies the short circuit fault level of the stator winding.

  • This study aimed to reveal the establishment process and design concept of KoKwan park built in modern Busan, which is called three major park includes YongDuSan park and TaeJeong Park, by analyzing BusanIlbo published modern period in Busan and 'Busan' published modern Busan prefecture. In KoKwan, there was installed DuMoPo Waegwan. The Japanese residents built the cemetery and memorial stone for Tsunohe Heigo's sudden death in the KoKwan hill, who was an envoy dispatched by Tsusima prefecture, in order to enhance awareness of the old territory DuMoPo Waegwan. In 1916, the Japanese residents repaired ruined the place by rasing funds and donated to Busan prefecture. Busan prefecture went public this place as a park. Meanwhile, In order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Busan port, Oike Chusuke's memorial statue was built in private house neiboring KoKwan park. He became the richest person in Busan while engaged in commerce and industry since he come to the Busan the year before the opening of Busan port. He donate garden site includes his statue and 10,000 Won for KoKwan park construction expenses to Busan prefecture Busan prefecture invite Oya Rejo, who was Osaka-Hu's landscape designer, to design the KoKwan park. He visited Busan and survey KoKwan park and other Busan's park and submitted the plan to Busan prefecture. His Plan for KoKwan includes shrine and Oike's statue, arboretum and greenhouses, children's play garden, etc. Oya's design concept of KoKwan park was analyzed as follows: the juxtaposition of the sacred and secular, the succession of present landscape context, the complement of parks content, the tool of nation-state formation. KoKwan park was completed with cost 20,000 won, insufficient budget compared with Oya's estimated amount. However, in this thesis, it was not cleared whether Busan prefecture built the park as it was. In 1945, after the independence, KoKwan Park was destroyed due to build Dong-gu Office, houses. The remained subjects from this study are to clarify the process the destruction of the park.

  • The user behaviors in the parks around the commercial area may have different characteristics in comparison with the behaviors in typical neighborhood parks because they may be affected by nearby commercial facilities. The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of park users'behavior considering adjacent environments in the neighborhood parks located in central business district of Daegu and to suggest improvements and complements for the construction of new parks and remodeling current parks. According to the results, the land values were high and the percentage of deteriorated buildings was low around Gukchae Reward Movement Memorial Park and 2.28 Central Memorial Park. However, the commercial facilities were entirely declined along with a drop in land values around Gyeongsang-gamyeong Park and old people used this park more than young people. In terms of the purpose of park use, users of three parks had indirect behavior patterns related near commercial facilities rather than using directly park facilities and the age groups of park users were similar to the user groups of nearby commercial facilities. Also, the determinant factors of satisfaction with park use were varied depending on the difference of age groups of park users and park characteristics. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the effects of user age groups according to the changes of environment around parks for the construction and organization of parks.

  • A new type of private education institute appeared starting from the 16th century, called Seowon consist of educational spaces and Jesa(a form of memorial ritual for the family's ancestors) space. Seowon Architecture is representative Confucian Architecture. Seowon is a kind of private school and it is a higher educational institute. the time of establishment was from the middle of 16th century to the end of 19th century, but the famous Seowon which remains up to now had been mainly built from the end of 16th century to the beginning of 17th century. Seowon was built on a quiet place far from the town for Students and Scholars to concentrate on their study. and it has beautiful surrounding scenery. Seowon has a place for study in the front and a place for sacrifice at the back regardless of configuration of ground. Gangdang is a building in the place for study in which teacher and students study. It is smilar place to Myongryundang of Hyanggyo. As a plan composition, there is a wide Daechong and two rooms at the both sides. Infront of Cangdang, there are Dongjae and Seojae on the right and the left side which are student' dormitory. This study argues that the Confucianist ideas and topography are the factors that determine the hierarchy Seowon. In light of this, A Study on Spatial Configuration of Education Area in Do-dong Sewon attempted to conduct an analysis by applying such backgrounds, and therefore studied the arrangement rules and construction methods for Seowons.

  • As a monumental building in the form of an arch, an archway has the characteristics of praise and honor. More and more historic, cultural and social connotations are given during the development of history. Four archways that are located on the middle route of the Red Gate Palace in the Mount Tai Scenic Area were chosen for research. Based on a literature review and field investigation with a visual analysis method, the physical attributes, spatial scale, perceptions and functions of the archways were discussed. The results were as follows: The archways in the research area are all made of stone. According to building location, they are classified into two types: Cultural archway and temple archway. Regarding functions, they are divided into symbolic archway, memorial archway and portal archway. From the point of view of form and scale, the Confucius Boarding Archway enjoys a higher standard than the other three. This reflects the importance of Confucian culture on Mount Tai. Regarding spatial scale, the archway becomes the focus in a restrictive linear space by an object-to-object and person-to-object comparison. Visitor experience of crossing the archways is strongly enhanced as it acts as entrance and exit, and it has the function of guiding sight since the arrangement of the archways further extend the line of sight. Couplets and inscriptions on the archways increase a sense of expectation for visitors on their way to the top of Mount Tai.

  • A study on the method of evaluation the urban amenity structure in Pusan city was established. Finally a survey sites out of 41 regions were selected on the basis of questionnaires : Taejong-dae and Haeun-dae as a seascape, Pumosa and Daesin-park as a mountain, Daechong-park and Seongjigok-park as a mixed, and Chungryulsa, Yongdoosan-park and U. N. Cemetry as a urban type. The abstracted results of amenity elements were revealed as natural environments including convex type as beach, reservoir, valley and mountain, and plant elements including woods and flower beds which raised amenity. The elements of social surroundings including children's playing, the aged's rest, and elements of structures including historic and memorial structures and high buildings. Amenity element made up of each space by region were abstracted from the Semantic Differential method. According to the factor analysis on the ground SD scale values, Kaiser's measure of sampling adequacy for 24 variables is 08602 and very high. Four factors including pleasantness, healthiness, convenience and safety showed 54.42 percent for total variance. By means of multiple regression, the model was as follows : Y=1.6636+0.3684X4+0.1955X11+0.1614X15-0.1688X23+0.1468X24. Therefore, Y:amenity, X4:beautiful-ugly, X11:clean-dirty, X15:creative-imitative, X23:cozy-dreary, X24:free-restrained. All variables in the model were significant at 0.001 level. According to the results of regression on satisfaction, the variables of satisfaction affecting amenity are the size of green space, the condition of management and the harmony with the surroundings. I think the considerating on the above could improve amenity of each region and further Pusan city.
