There has presently been made impressional progress in the data communications and communication equipment market throughout the industry. Especially the CALS(Commerce At Light Speed) that is currently rising domestically, clearly shows the changes In the communication market in the near future. This will also apply to medical equipments where there will be significant progress in communications between medical equipments or through present network system. We will show how these communication equipments can be applied to the equipments we are designing, and how these application can be used.

It is usual that the medical examination of human body need special knowledpe and equipments. Thus we have to spend Lime and energy on going to special place such as hospital where doctors and equipments are. Which often cause missing a good chance af medical treatment as well as giving us inconvenience. However many simple and convenient equipments were developed for checking our health conditions recently. O-ring test is accepted a3 one of useful methods to examine our heallb conditions. Also the test is recognized as a uscful means to judge, withoul any special equipment and medical knowledge, if some medical substances or foods are beneficial or harmful to our health. However, the judgement may be mcorrect because it depend on doctor's subjective point of view.In this study, we developed an automatic O-ring t a r mach~ne which enable us to check our health conditions objectively and quantitatively. The validity of the idea to develope the machine was proved by experiments.

Modern Objectification of Pulse Diagnosis, One of the Four Diagnosis Method of Oriental Medicine, is necessarily project to improving Oriental medical clinic status and quality by standardization of diagnosis database. At that, accurate measurement equipment or devices(sensor, system and instruments, etc,) to exactly detect MacSang(脈診 : the parameter and subject of pulse diagnosis) have not developed yet. Existing Pulse diagnosis devices are not satisfy clinical needs and medical equipments quality. We study for pulse diagnosis system, that CD is satisfying oriental medical clinic needs, is ensuring accuracy and reappearance to support in clinical diagnosis and treatment, is guaranteeing the quality of medical equipments. theoretical base and convenience.

This paper describes design techniques of general purpose thermal array printer, especially easily applicable to medical measurement equipment. The'general'means that the proposed thermal array printer can be applied to not only medical field but other industrial field by establishing the eligible protocol. The thermal array printer is composed of i)MPU and its peripherals ii)printer head control, iii)diverse protection circuits, and iv)serial communication. In this paper the performance of the proposed thermal array printer was evaluated by applying to an 3 channel electrocardiogram recorder. The propped system can support'Hangul'text as well as alphanumeric characters and any bitmap image.

The mobile terminal system plays a key role in medical industries which require in fast and accurate diagnosis from heterogeneous acquisition equipment. The demand for PACS (picture archiving and communication systems) has continued to increase in major hospitals and private clinics. Patient care depends on how fast the medical imaging system provides images and how accurately the images are interpreted by physicians. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to decipher the hundreds of images required by physicians to accurately diagnose patients. By exploring Motion- JPEG (M-JPEG), this paper has demonstrates the possibilities for efficient management of medical images with a newly designed image file format and improvement in imaging diagnoses through the replaying of moving pictures of a patient in a mobile environment.

The Korean medical evacuation helicopter was developed based on the Korean Utility Helicopter (hereafter referred to as 'Surion'). It uses an auxiliary power unit and engine for heating during winter operation. The helicopter maintains the internal temperature of the aircraft using its bleed air to satisfy its operational capability. However, due to the air inflow through the gap between the aircraft skin and door, additional heating for operating the portable medical equipment and preventing hypothermia in evacuated patients is required. Accordingly, an electric auxiliary heater was developed for additional heating during winter operation, and environmental, durability, and performance tests were conducted per MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F. The auxiliary heater was verified per the tailored airworthiness certification criteria.

In this paper Ubiquitous Medical Electronic Device Export was defined, and it's job analysis. The authors have been defined the job and classified duties and tasks of Ubiquitous Medical Electronic Device Export. To fine what is the most efficient task for Ubiquitous Medical Electronic Device Export, we have been investigated the levels of importance, difficulty, frequency and entry in each task. A DACUM committee is composed of total 12 members, which are one facilitator, 10 panel members, one coordinator & recorder to analyze the job of Ubiquitous Medical Electronic Device Export. Following is the result of this study. First, The process began with the identification of a job title and definition of Ubiquitous Medical Electronic Device Export. Second, a job model of Ubiquitous Medical Electronic Device Export is constructed based on the results of DACUM job analysis. 5 duties and 33 tasks are analyzed. Third, occupational specification was drawn up in consultation with SME council. Fourth, duty specification was drawn up in consultation. 33 tasks that are essential in entry level of occupation are identified. Fifth, task specification was drawn up in consultation. Detail task component which include skill, materials, knowledge, equipment, achievement level and tool was specified in task specification.

Recently the trend of surgical procedure for treatment of lumbar benign disease is a minimally invasive surgery due to small incision, minimal blood loss, and a short hospital day. By using a microscope or an endoscope, and other surgical equipment, a delicate manipulation in a narrow space became feasible, consequently, to secure a wider view with small incision, appropriate retractors are required. But the various tubular retractor systems are expensive and have some problems. We modified Thoracoport [Auto Suture Co., Norwalk, CT] by making a window at the distal end of trocar and used it as a tubular retractor in surgical procedure for treatment of lumbar benign disease. This modified tubular retractor is docked closely on the curved lamina and provides a wider view. We used it as a tubular retractor also in lumbar bilateral decompression involving a unilateral approach. But this trocar has the limited sizes [diameter and length], and also it is difficult to fix the retractor or change the direction of retractor. And then, we propose a more modified Thoracoport with various sizes and attaching the settling holders to the head of tubular retractor to be able to fix the retractor.

Authors surveyed the inhabitants in Ulnung Island to assess the patterns of medical utilization. One hundred eighty six population(65 male and 121 female) were surveyed with formed questionnaire from Aug. 16 to Aug. 19 in 1994. Results are as follows. 1. The prevalence rate of acute diseases was 19.3%. 2. The prevalence rate of chronic diseases was 35.0%. In classification of chronic disease, the disease of musculoscletal system was the highest(33.9%) and that of digestive system in next order. 3. The first-visit medical facility when disease developed was community health center mainly. The admission care was taken in 37.6%. The 80.0% among location of medical facility for admission care was out of island. The surgical operative care were taken in 19.9%. The 86.5% among location of medical facility for surgical operative care was out of island. 4. Among the contents of dissatisfaction for medical service within island, 'Insufficient equipment' was the highest(35.8%), and 'Insufficient traffic networks' in next order. The results of this study suggest that public health facilities and medical personnel be strengthened and emergency transfer system be secured in Ulnung Island.

2019년말 발생한 COVID-19이 세계적 대유행으로 확산되면서, 선진국과 개발도상국을 가리지 않고 전세계의 의료 시스템을 동시에 무너뜨리는 초유의 사태로 나타나고 있다. 대부분의 시민 사회에서 개인의 보호장구의 부족, 클러스터가 된 지역사회의 격리, 진단과 치료에 필요한 의료시스템의 중단, 사회적 격리로 인한 교육 및 경제활동의 중단 등, 초연결 사회를 지향하던 시민사회가 경험해보지 못한 새로운 위기에 직면하고 있다. 효과적인 대응에 필수적인 개인 보호장비 (PPE), 제독 및 방역 도구, 신속하고 정밀한 대규모 진단, 환자 치료에 필요한 의료기기, 사회적 고립에서 활용될 수 있는 정보의 분석과 연결망 등은 선진국과 개발도상국을 가리지 않고 COVID-19 상황에서 필수적인 사회적 인프라임이 확인되고 있다. 본 Part 1에서는 최근 적정기술로 위기를 극복하기위한 개인보호장구와 개인 및 지역사회의 방역에 대한 사례, 그리고 ICT를 이용한 빅데이터 및 정보활용기술등을 적정기술의 테두리안에서 소개하고자 한다.
