  • Even though 30inch optical telescope at Kyung Hee Astronomy Observatory has been used to produce a series of scientific achievements since its first light in 1992, numerous difficulties in operating of the telescope have hindered the precise observations needed for further researches. Since the currently used PC-TCS(Personal Computer based Telescope Control System) software based on ISA-bus type is outdated, it doesn't have a user friendly interface and make it impossible to scale. Also accumulated errors which are generated by discordance from input and output signals into a motion controller required new control system. Thus we have improved the telescope control system by updating software and modifying mechanical parts. We applied a new BLDC(brushless DC) servo motor system to the mechanical parts of the telescope and developed a control software using Visual Basic6.0. As a result, we could achieve a high accuracy in controlling of the telescope and use the user friendly GUI(Graphic User Interface).

  • The thermal analysis of electronic equipment is required to predict the reliability of electronic equipment being loaded on a satellite. The transient heat transfer of electronic equipment that was developed recently has been generated using a large-scale integration circuit. If there is a transient heat transfer between EEE(Electric, Electronic and Electro mechanical) parts, it may lead to failure the satellite mission. In this study, we performed the thermal design and analysis for reliability of APD(Antenna Pointing Driver) electronics for activation of a spaceborne X-band 2-axis antenna. The EEE parts were designed using a thermal mathematical model without the thermal mitigation element. In addition, thermal analysis was performed based on the worst case for verifying the reliability of EEE parts. For the thermal analysis results, the thermal stability of electronic equipment has been demonstrated by satisfying the de-rating junction temperature.

Preparation and Characterization of Black Color Zirconia by Impregnation Method Used by Graphite (흑연 함침법에 의한 흑색 지르코니아의 제조 및 특성분석)

  • Zirconia is widely used for structural materials in machinery due to its superior properties, such as high strength, high hardness, and high toughness. Zirconia generally has ivory or white color. Therefore many studies are performed for diversification of zirconia color, in order to be widely uitilized for decoration and machine parts which need distincfive color. In this study, graphite is used to prevent structural defect, to maintain superior properties, and to develop black color of zirconia by impregnation method. As specimen was impregnated at $1600^{\circ}C$ for 2 h, bending strength is 1221 MPa, density is $6.01\;g/cm^3$, hardness is 10.1 GPa, absorption coefficient is 0%, transmittance is Fail, chromaticity is 54. The results indicate that black zirconia has enough properties to be adopted as mechanical parts. Optimum impregnation time is 2 h for various observations.

  • This paper investigated the effect of multimedia educational program developed based on Flash for learning how to make a part drawing of V-belt drive. The scholastic achievements of experimental group learned by the program were higher than traditional group in case of technical high school students, but they were not different in case of university students.

  • A method for extracting the elemental information for an efficient representation of the boundary of industrial parts, from the contours of the mechanical parts, is presented. We have analyzed the performance of the boundary representation using lines and circles. We have also analyzed and compared the performance of the proposed method with that of CW tracking-RL searching method. The result of the analysis has shown that the method suggested in this paper is twice faster than CW tracking-RL searching method. The same result could also be observed in experiments.

  • The aim of this project is the development of technology of production of micro mechanical parts. Materials are Cr, pt or film (thickness $1000-3000\AA$) on glass substrate. Method of manufacturing is resistless direct laser ablation based on the projection technology. A source of radiation is KrF excimer laser(248nm), Experiments of threshold energy are carried out and the results are analyzed by SEM.

  • A finite-element based forging simulator, POSFORM, for automatic computer simulation of two-dimensional and axisymmetric forging processes was introduced in this paper. POSFORM is characterized by solution accuracy, user-friendliness, applicability and extensibility. Basic principles and capabilities of the program were introduced. Several application examples found in cold or hot forging companies of automotive or mechanical parts were given.

  • A robot system in most industries has a complicated structure, which includes electric and electronic components, and mechanical parts. For this reason, building a robot system also has a very complicated design and maintenance processes. Especially to predict or assess the system's maintainability and safety is important for both designer and operator before it's production or installation of the system.   • For the life estimation of CCFLs in edge-lit LCD modules has been required CCFL blackening test, which is executed in the state of low current and long-time operation under the high temperature condition. We investigated the reason why CCFL blackening happened more easily in the above test conditions and the way how mechanical parts had influence upon CCFL blackening in the edge-lit LCD modules.

  • Harmonic analysis, based on finite element method, is popularly used to predict a response of shadow mask to the external excitation from speakers. Since vibration wave travels from speakers to the shadow mask, a finite element model must include all mechanical parts between the speakers and the shadow mask, which increases total time needed in finite element modeling and computation. In this paper, we perform the harmonic analysis on a MF assembly to obtain frequency response function of a shadow mask, and compare the solutions with experimental results.
