A Smart Bench Press Machine: Automatic Weight Control Sensitive to User Tiredness

  • In order to provide a safe free-weight-training environment to people without workout trainers, we suggest a smart bench press machine with an automatic weight control system sensitive to user tiredness. Physical weight plates on the machine are replaced with a hydraulic cylinder as a press load and the cylinder knob is coupled with a step motor to change its tensile force automatically in-between lifting exercises. Three subjects participated to verify the usability of the smart bench press machine. They were asked to lift a 6-RM press load 10 times with 3 different lifting conditions: 1) no assistance, 2) a human assistance, and 3) the automatic weight control. All subjects were not able to complete the 10 sets without assistance due to tiredness, but they finished the full sets under the two assistive conditions. Average lifting speeds under the automatic weight control condition showed the most consistent level. Normalized quasi-tension data based on surface electromyogram signals of both Pectoralis Majors revealed that the subjects maintained the target muscle activation level above 50% but not more than 80% throughout the 10 sets. Therefore, the smart bench press machine is expected to both keep pace with the lifting exercise and reduce risk of injuries due to excessive muscle tensions.

  • Main function of the Press forming Machine is the forming for plates. The head of the Press forming machine consist of several parts. It was named Press forming-contraction and Press forming_expansion according to formability of plates. Aluminium and Titanum plates are forming by using the Press forming machine. In this study, we analyzed sheet metal forming including plastic deformation and the contact pressure in the bearing. Finite element analysis results of Press forming-contraction and Press forming_expansion show the similar results of the actual specimen plates and the bearing contact pressures show the acceptable level of stress in both aluminum and titanium specimens.

  • There are being a lot of studies for achievement of high speed Dehydration, high-strength and Lightweight of washing machine in the latest washing machine business. It is essential that Press-joining Strength of Spin Drum Seaming division is improved .to attain that target. Generally, we are using Mechanical press-joining by Seaming and T.I.G (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding among part joint method. Mechanical press-joining method that is mainly using for Stainless Steel (STS430) Drum have lots of merit that consumption of energy is low more than welding and production costs cut down and generation of the corrosion is solved by removing weld zone defect and materials having different properties are enable to join without special equipment. But, it is difficult to realize joint strength required at high speed operation because joint strength of mechanical press-joining method is low remarkably in comparison with welding. Also, there are a lot of analysis difficulties and very limited research is under way due to the dynamic factor such as multistage plastic working, elastic recovery, residual stress etc. The results of this study show optimal joining condition for mechanical press-joining by performing lots of tensile joining strength test with various specimen under multi-change of important design factor such as seaming width, bead area and bead depth etc.

  • 제품 정밀도와 생산성 향상을 위해 고속프레스의 초고속화 및 초정밀화 기술이 더욱 중요해지고 있다. 그러나 고속프레스는 작동 속도 증가에 따라 슬라이드의 반복 위치 정밀도가 저하되고 프레스 구조 부품의 파손 위험성은 증가하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 고속프레스의 설계 정밀도를 향상시키기 위해서는 이런 문제점을 해석적으로 예측하고 설계에 미리 반영하는 것이 필요하다. 이번 연구에서는 편심 질량을 갖는 프레스 구동부 부품의 회전에 따른 동적 탄성 변형을 유한요소해석과 실험을 통해 분석하였다. 이를 통해 고속의 작동 조건에서 프레스의 정밀도와 파손 위험성 변화를 평가하였다.

  • In this study, a hydraulic press structure has been investigated in order to enhance the precision machining and the productivity, which are generally damaged by the structural deformation from the pressure and the vibrations originated from the centrifugal forces from the rotating parts of the machine. Computer simulation based on the finite element method has been utilized for the analysis of static and dynamic characteristics to investigate each component's critical points, and to further improve the static and dynamic stabilities of a hydraulic press structure. The result shows that the deformations and the vibrations of the machine could be reduced 35% without increasing the weight of the machine.

프레스 광전자식 방호장치의 충격진동 저감 (Shock and Vibration Reduction of the Opto-Electronic Protective Device for the Press Machine)

  • The vibration and shock of the opto-electronic protective device was induced mechanical failure or fail to work correctly. In order to identify the exciting frequency components of vibration and shock, vibration signals are measured and analyzed from the mechanical power press. In addition, the modal test for the opto-electronic protective device was performed to investigate the dynamic characteristics. Some FEM simulations were carried out and then anti vibration mount was made for opto-electronic protective device. Based on the results of simulations, some kind of rubber mounts were tested to demonstrate the reduction of vibration and shock. It was verified by the test that a considerable amount of vibration and shock were reduced.

  • The CAD/CAM System for deep drawing transfer die in mechanical press proess has been developed. The developed CAD system can generate the drawing of drawing of transfer die in mechanical press. Using these results from CAD system, it can generate the NC data to machine die's elements on the CAD system. This system can reduce design man-hours and human errors. In order to construct the system, it is used to automate the design process using knowledge base system. The developed system is based on the knowledge base system which is involved a lot of expert's technology in the practice filed. Using AutoLISP language under the AutoCAD system, CTK customer language of SmartCAM is used as the overall CAD/CAM environment. Results of this system will be provide effective aids to the designer and mannufacturer in this field.

  • This paper describes a 3-dimensional measuring method for cylindrical huge ingot pressed with forging machine. Target ingot we consider here is rotated around a fixed axis during measurement. Using an image processing technique every profile of cross-section is obtained, and 3D image is reconstructed. One method to calibrate the system setting is also presented. Experimental results reveal that the method are applicable and the algorithm is feasible.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a CAD/CAM system for generation of designing and manufacturing information such as total drawing sub-assembly drawing, part drawing detail drawing part list and NC data for machining by CNC lathe were CUT machining center.   • after using dom die, this sheet pressed from a variation condition of size, of die holder power,of rpm speed, accordingly the kind of material, the conditionof deformation movement between both sheets is analyzed, is investigated in the Press machine. even if the change quantity which formed raises a blank holder pressure, the change quantity which is special is not visible from the segment where there is not a bead, the segment where there is a bead to the other side does change quantity schedule to initially and the features of press holding power which the change quantity diminishes is showed consequently from pressurization change quantity it is visible but until a rupture territory from the rpm, it goes but the features where the change quantity does not change a lot is observationd, from the CR2-sheet the quality comes out though well but a possibility of getting a result under same conditions of AL-sheet does not become the formation which stands is. It is like that though press-die which uses the drawing-sheet it exchanges the sheets, when AL-sheet with doing, the conclusion for maintain which have a formation sincerity healthy characteristic is same with afterwords.
