A Novel Color Breakup Measurement Technique for Field Sequential Display

  • Field sequential display has some advantages but color breakup (CBU) is the significant problem. Many researches had introduced several methods to reduce CBU phenomenon, however there are no reliable methods to measure the degree of CBU. In this report, a novel CBU measurement technique which was based on the image processing method and subjective analysis results had proposed to evaluate the degree of CBU. Color Breakup Index (CBI) was presented to be a useful index to recognize the CBU phenomenon in the different field sequential technique displays.

  • Urban quality of life(QOL) is recently considered as the important determinant of inter-urban migration and industrial location chice. However, there is little concensus in the method of measurement of QOL. This study provides an theoretical framework of the measurement of QOL. This study provides an theoretical framework of the measurement of QOL, and developes a new method, a multi-year$\cdot$mulit-dimensional distance index model. Based on the theoretical framework and the method, the QOLs of 74 urban areas in Korea are measured, and the determinants of the QOL and the changes of the QOL between two years of 1993 and 1995 are analyzed. The results of the analysis are as follows: 1) The interurban differences of the QOL tens to be interban differences of the QOL tend to be intensified over time. 2) The OQLs of the cities in the Capital Region are relatively deteriorated. 3) The conditions of education$\cdot$Culture$\cdot$leisure life determiner over 65% of the QOL of the Korean cities.

Development of a New On-line fiber Orientation Sensor Based on Dielectric Anisotropy

  • A new method is proposed for the on-line measurement of the fiber orientation of sheet materials. The measurement of fiber orientation is very important in manufacturing paper sheets, non-woven fabrics, and glass sheets, because fiber orientation strongly affects product properties represented by, for example, dimensional stability of paper. A method developed in this research utilizes anisotropy of dielectric constants of sheet materials as a key characteristic to determine the fiber orientation. The new on-line sensor, consisting of 5 microwave dielectric resonators set in different directions, was designed to detect the fiber orientation while paper is running with high speed on a paper machine. This sensor can determine the direction and the degree of fiber orientation from the measured direction of the maximal dielectric constant and its variation, respectively. The fundamental performance of this system was examined by the static measurement of printing grade paper, which gave a satisfactory result. Then, the dynamic measurements were done at a speed of 1,000 m/min by using a high-speed test-coating machine.

시판표백제에 의한 농축세제의 세척성 향상과 섬유 손상 (The Detergency Improvement and Fabric Damage in the Washing Treatment by Commercial Bleaching Agents)

  • In order to investigate the detergency effect of stained cotton and PET fabric, respectively, these fabrics stained with solid soils such as carbon black, liquid paraffin, and fat and examined the detergency effect in the optimum washing condition. The evaluation of washing efficiency of washed fabrics studied by using the surface reflectance measurement before and after washing treatment. The maximum detergency effect of stained cotton and PET fabric obtained in the mixed washing liquor-bleachig agen(ml)/concentrated washig agent(g/l). To obtain the excellent detergency effect, 2-step washing treatment, pre-washing by bleaching agent only and washing by concentrated detergent, is preferred. In comparing the detergency of polyester and cotton fabric, the detergency of stained polyester fabric superior than that of stained cotton fabric because of the difference of adhesive force between soil material and fabric in preparing soled stained fabric. In this study, we also studied the degree of fabric damage by the measurement of tensile strength change. From the results of the tensile strength measurement, the damage of washed fabric before and after washing treatment was nearly changed.

LISREL을 이용한 주거환경 평가 측정모델 개발 -대전시 저소득층을 대상으로- (The Development of Measurement Model for Evaluation of Residential Environment in Low Income Families by LISREL Program)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a measurement model for evaluation of residential environment in low-income families. Residential environment means the housing unit itself and neighborhoods and community characteristics. Based on the previous research on housing environment, six factors (comfortable environment in indoor and outdoor, facilities environment in complex and community, sociopsychological environment, management and economic environment) were selected to evaluate residential environment and to provided a foundation for exploring the multidimensional factors of this research. As s confirmatory study, an Analysis of Linear Structural Relationships(LISREL) was utilized to develop the model. Despite of some measurement errors, the goodness of fit of an overall model was acceptable. Facilities environment in complex and sociopsychological environment were the most important factors in residential environmental evaluation of the low income families. the findings showed that housing policies and programs to improve the quality of homes in low-income families seemed to be beneficial to improve residential satisfaction of the residents.

온돌난방주택의 난방방식별 열 특성에 관한 실험연구 (Experimental Study on the Thermal Characteristics in Ondol Heating Systems)

  • The aim of this study is to discover thermal characteristics of Ondol heating systems. The housing subjected was categorized into detached single family houses and apartments, reinforced concrete and brick structures, intermittent and continous heating system, and the space subjected was bedroom. In order to understand the thermal characteristics of each floor heating systems, the vertical distribution of indoor temperature and the distribution of surface temperature on the floor were measured. The vertical distribution of indoor temperature except the measurement point 1 largely showed average temperature distribution, and the temperature of the measurement point 1 in the housing surveyed showed the highest temperature in the house "sample A" because of the radiation heating from the floor of the Ondol room. As the result of the measurement, the thermal characteristics of each heating system were more stable distribution in apartments of R.C structure.structure.

  • Recently, measuring instruments for SHM of structures had being developed. In general, the wireless transmission of sensor signals, compared to its wired counterpart, is preferable due to its absence of triboelectric noise and elimination of the requirement for cumbersome cable. Preliminary studies on the continuous vibration measurement of high-rise buildings using MEMS sensors have been carried out. However, the research on the low-rise buildings with relatively small vibration levels is insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, we used the wireless MEMS sensor to compare and analyze the vibration measurements of three low-rise buildings.
