  • The unit-water content of concrete is one of the important factors in determining the quality of concrete and is directly related to the durability of the construction structure, and the current method of measuring the unit-water content of concrete is applied by the Air Meta Act and the Electrostatic Capacity Act. However, there are complex and time-consuming problems with measurement methods. Therefore, high frequency moisture sensor was used for quick and high measurement, and unit-water content of mortar was evaluated through machine running and deep running based on measurement big data.

  • Measurement is an imperative content area of early elementary mathematics, but it is reported that students' understanding of units in measurement situations is insufficient despite its importance. Therefore, this study examined lower-grade elementary students' quantitative reasoning of units in length measurement by identifying the levels of reasoning of units. For this purpose, we collected and analyzed the responses of second-grade elementary school students who engaged in a set of length measurement tasks using an open number line in terms of unitizing, iterating, and partitioning. As a result of the study, we categorized students' quantitative reasoning of unit levels into four levels: Iterating unit one, Iterating a given unit, Relating units, and Transforming units. The most prevalent level was Relating units, which is the level of recognizing relationships between units to measure length. Each level was illustrated with distinct features and examples of unit reasoning. Based on the results of this study, a personalized plan to the level of unit reasoning of students is required, and the need for additional guidance or the use of customized interventions for students with incomplete unit reasoning skills is necessary.

  • Construction performance and productivity improvement are key focus areas in construction industry for any nation. There have been frequent delays and cost overruns in construction projects and poor productivity is one of the major contributions. For this reasons, there have been many research studies performed on the improvement of construction productivity for several decades. However, measuring productivity on a construction job site is still not an easy work. Because collecting reliable data consistently from the job site requires a lot of personnel efforts causing extra time and cost. This paper provides a basic study on the application of image processing technology for measuring unit productivity. It presented the possibility of unit productivity measurement by image processing technology through case study.

  • We have developed a biological signal measurement, archiving, and communication system (SiMACS). The front end of the system is the intelligent data processing unit (IDPU) which includes ECG, EEG, EMG, blood pressure, respiration, temperature measurement modules, module control and data acquisition unit, real-time display and signal processing unit. IDPUS are connected to central data base unit through LAN(Ethernet). Workstations which receive signals from central DB and provide various signal analysis tools are also connected to the network. The developed PC-based SiMACS is described.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented the 60W DC characteristic measurement system for semiconductor devices. The proposed system is composed of 2 SMU(Source and Measure Unit)s, 2 HPU(High power Unit)s, 2VSU(Voltage Source Unit)s, and 2 VMU(Voltage Measurement Unit)s. HPU can source/measure voltage from -200V to 200V and source/measure current from -3A to 3A within 60W. Experimental results show that the implemented system can measure the power devices such as power BJT, regulator IC, and voltage detector.

The multi-input deep learning model is as accurate as 24.25% higher than the OLS linear regression model, which shows that deep learning can more effectively identify the nonlinear relationship between high-frequency moisture sensor data and unit quantity than linear regression.

  • This paper describes the results of study on the measurement method of TRMS (true root mean square value) In electrosurgical unit. We used three type (direct computing type, indirect computing type, thermal converting type) in the measurement of TRMS. Three types of measurement method were compared with respect to power level, frequencey and crest factor in addition to environmental temperature. In three of them, the thermal converting type was the best for th electrosurgical unit analyzer

  • More precise operation and control is required to ensure the stability and security of modern large power systems that is a complicated and widely dispersed structure. To ensure the precise operation and control of modern power system, most of all, precise monitoring and measurement of the various state values of power system is required. This paper discusses phasor measurement unit using synchronization signals from the GPS satellite system- Synchronized Phasor Measurement Unit. Considering the power system operation state, the transmitting data format over modems is defined. To provide all available information, PMU process the measurements to generate three phase symmetrical component. This paper proposes the transmitted data format and implements the PMU model using EMTP/Models. The validity of proposed model is confirmed through several contingency on the simple power system.

  • This paper presents an integrated underwater navigational algorithm for unmanned underwater vehicles, using additional two-range transducers. This paper proposes a measurement model, using two range measurements, to improve the performance of an IMU-DVL (inertial measurement unit - Doppler velocity log) navigation system for long-time operation of underwater vehicles, excluding DVL measurement. Extended Kalman filter was adopted to propagate the error covariance, to update the measurement errors, and to correct the state equation when the external measurements are available. Simulation was conducted with the 6-d.o.f nonlinear numerical model of an AUV in lawn-mowing survey mode, at current flaw, where the velocity information is unavailable. Simulations illustrate the effectiveness of the integrated navigation system, assisted by the additional range measurements without DVL sensing.

  • This paper presents the use of the inertial measurement unit information and the infrared sector information for getting the position of an object. Travel distance is usually calculated from the double integration of the accelerometer output with respect to time; however, the accumulated errors due to the drift are inevitable. The orientation change of the accelerometer also causes error because the gravity is added to the measured acceleration. Unless three axis orientations are completely identified, the accelerometer alone does not provide correct acceleration for estimating the travel distance. We propose a way of minimizing the error due to the change of the orientation. In order to reduce the accumulated error, the infrared sector information is fused with the inertial measurement unit information. Infrared sector information has highly deterministic characteristics, different from RFID. By putting several infrared emitters on the ceiling, the floor is divided into many different sectors and each sector is set to have a unique identification. Infrared light based sector information tells the sector the object is in, but the size of the uncertainty is too large if only the sector information is used. This paper presents an algorithm which combines both the inertial measurement unit information and the sector information so that the size of the uncertainty becomes smaller. It also introduces a framework which can be used with other types of the artificial landmarks. The characteristics of the developed infrared light based sector and the proposed algorithm are verified from the experiments.
