켑스트럼 정규화와 켑스트럼 거리기반 묵음특징정규화 방법을 이용한 잡음음성 인식 (Cepstral Normalization Combined with CSFN for Noisy Speech Recognition)

  • 일반적인 음성인식 시스템은 보통 실내 환경에서는 잘 동작하지만 잡음이 존재하는 실제 환경에서는 여러 가지 잡음의 영향으로 그 성능이 급격히 떨어진다. 본 논문에서는 잡음환경에 강인한 음성인식을 위하여 훈련 환경과 실제 환경의 불일치를 줄이기 위한 방법으로 켑스트럼 거리기반 묵음특징 정규화(CSFN: Cepstral distance based SFN) 방법에 켑스트럼 정규화 방법(CMVN:cepstral mean and variance normalization)을 결합한 CSFN-CMVN 방법을 제안하였다. 이 방법은 켑스트럼 특징의 분포 특성의 차이를 나타내는 켑스트럼 유클리디언 거리를 결합하여 음성/묵음 분류에 사용하여 묵음특징을 정규화하는 CSFN 방법에 켑스트럼 정규화 방법을 결합하는 방법이다. Aurora 2.0 DB를 이용한 실험결과, 제안한 CSFN-CMVN은 기존의 대표적인 묵음특징 정규화 방법인 SFN-I 과 비교했을 때 모든 테스트 세트에 대한 평균 단어인식 정확도에서 약 7%의 인식률 향상을 가져옴을 확인하였다. 또한, 기존의 SFN-II, CSFN에 비해서도 약 6%, 5% 향상되었음을 확인 할 수 있어 제안한 방법의 유효성을 확인할 수 있었다.

후기(後期) 석탄기(石炭紀) 테티스해내(海內) 한국 삼척탄전(三涉炭田)의 천해류(淺海流) 분석(分折) (Neritic Paleocurrent Analysis of Pennsylvanian Tethyan Sea at Samcheog Coalfield, Korea)

  • The depositional environment of the Manhang and the Geumcheon Formation of the Pennsylvanian Gomog Croup is revealed to the shallow neritic marine milieu in this paper also as the results of Park (1963), Cheong(1975) and Kim (1976), through the analyses of stratigraphy, paleocurrent, properties of cross-beddings and sedimentational features. The formations contains some possible terrestrial sediments suggesting the paralic environment, which are however not recognized definitely within them. The paleocurrent analysis is made to the Manhang Formation only. The paleocurrent of the formation is known to belong to the shallow neritic longshore current. The paleocurrent analysis is based chiefly on the cross-bedding analysis, and subordinately on the texture of elastic coarse sediments. The paleocurrent mean is determined to $269^{\circ}$, that is, from east to west, of which direction is interpreted to the right angle to the slope of the basinal depository plane and also the parallel with die depositional strike, according to Klein (1960) and Selley's (1968) criteria. The variance value of paleocurrent directions of the Manhang Formation in the whole area studied is 6,374, and the values range from 3,394 to 6,957 according to the dirstricts. The paleocurreut pattern of the whole area shows polymodel, and the patterns in each district range from trimodel to quadrimodel. Those models approach to the shallow marine or paralic model of Tohill and Picard (1966), Picard and High (1968 a), Pisnak (1957) and Pettijohn (1962). The mean value of maximum inclinations of cross-beddings of the whole area is $19.9^{\circ}$ with the standard deviation of 8.4, and ranges from $15.6^{\circ}$ to $21.7^{\circ}$ in the districts. Comparing the histogram showing the frequency distribution of the maximum inclinations of cross-beddings of the Manhang Formation with the Pettijohn's (1962) histogram, it is found that the model approaches to his marine model. The Pennsylvanian Gomog Group of the coalfield is considered to have had been deposited in the pseudogeosynclinal zone on the plateau by the transgression of the Tethyan sea caused by the epirogenic movements during the Pennsylvanian Period.

Association of the Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in RUNX1, DYRK1A, and KCNJ15 with Blood Related Traits in Pigs

  • The aim of this study was to detect positional candidate genes located within the support interval (SI) regions based on the results of red blood cell, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin quantitative trait locus (QTL) in Sus scrofa chromosome 13, and to verify the correlation between specific single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located in the exonic region of the positional candidate gene and the three genetic traits. The flanking markers of the three QTL SI regions are SW38 and S0215. Within the QTL SI regions, 44 genes were located, and runt-related transcription factor 1, dual-specificity tyrosine-(Y)-phosphorylation regulated kinase 1A (DYRK1A), and potassium inwardly-rectifying channel, subfamily J, member 15 KCNJ15-which are reported to be related to the hematological traits and clinical features of Down syndrome-were selected as positional candidate genes. The ten SNPs located in the exonic region of the three genes were detected by next generation sequencing. A total of 1,232 pigs of an $F_2$ resource population between Landrace and Korean native pigs were genotyped. To investigate the effects of the three genes on each genotype, a mixed-effect model which is the considering family structure model was used to evaluate the associations between the SNPs and three genetic traits in the $F_2$ intercross population. Among them, the MCV level was highly significant (nominal $p=9.8{\times}10^{-9}$) in association with the DYRK1A-SNP1 (c.2989 G$F_2$ intercross, our approach has limited power to distinguish one particular positional candidate gene from a QTL region.

쓰시마난류역 연안 수온의 경험적 직교함수 분석 (Empirical Orthogonal Function Analysis of Coastal Water Temperatures in the Tsushima Current Region)

  • 쓰시마난류역 연안 8개 지점과 30년간 $(1941\~1970)$ 표면수온과 이상수온에 대한 경험적 직교함수(EOF) 분석을 통하여 수온의 시공간적 변동을 구명하였다. 본 해역 표면수온 계절변동의 전반적 양상은 전체 변동량의 $97.2\%$를 설명하는 제 1 EOF 모드로 기술된다. 표면수온 계절변동의 연교차는 상류에서 작고 하류에서 크다. EOF 분석에 의하면, 쓰시마난류역 표면이상수온은 전해역이 동시적으로 승강하는 변동 (전체 변동량의 $40.9\%$)과 상류역과 하류역의 이상수온승강이 반대인 "교차적 변동"(전체 변동량의 $19.3\%$)의 합으로 나타낼 수 있다. 주파수 영역별로 이상수온 변동의 특성을 구명하기 위해 각 관측점의 이상 수온을 중합필터 방법으로 장주기(주기 24개월 이상), 중간주기(주기 $6\~24$개월) 및 단주기(주기 6개월 미만) 영역의 시계열로 분리한 후, 각 주기 영역 이상수온에 대한 별도의 EOF 분석 결과에 의하면, 제 1 및 제 2 EOF 모드의 공간적 분포는 모든 주기 영역에서 비슷하다.

The combination of a histogram-based clustering algorithm and support vector machine for the diagnosis of osteoporosis

  • Purpose: To prevent low bone mineral density (BMD), that is, osteoporosis, in postmenopausal women, it is essential to diagnose osteoporosis more precisely. This study presented an automatic approach utilizing a histogram-based automatic clustering (HAC) algorithm with a support vector machine (SVM) to analyse dental panoramic radiographs (DPRs) and thus improve diagnostic accuracy by identifying postmenopausal women with low BMD or osteoporosis. Materials and Methods: We integrated our newly-proposed histogram-based automatic clustering (HAC) algorithm with our previously-designed computer-aided diagnosis system. The extracted moment-based features (mean, variance, skewness, and kurtosis) of the mandibular cortical width for the radial basis function (RBF) SVM classifier were employed. We also compared the diagnostic efficacy of the SVM model with the back propagation (BP) neural network model. In this study, DPRs and BMD measurements of 100 postmenopausal women patients (aged >50 years), with no previous record of osteoporosis, were randomly selected for inclusion. Results: The accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of the BMD measurements using our HAC-SVM model to identify women with low BMD were 93.0% (88.0%-98.0%), 95.8% (91.9%-99.7%) and 86.6% (79.9%-93.3%), respectively, at the lumbar spine; and 89.0% (82.9%-95.1%), 96.0% (92.2%-99.8%) and 84.0% (76.8%-91.2%), respectively, at the femoral neck. Conclusion: Our experimental results predict that the proposed HAC-SVM model combination applied on DPRs could be useful to assist dentists in early diagnosis and help to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with low BMD and osteoporosis.

Assessing Unit Hydrograph Parameters and Peak Runoff Responses from Storm Rainfall Events: A Case Study in Hancheon Basin of Jeju Island

  • Estimation of runoff peak is needed to assess water availability, in order to support the multifaceted water uses and functions, hence to underscore the modalities for efficient water utilization. The magnitude of storm rainfall acts as a primary input for basin level runoff computation. The rainfall-runoff linkage plays a pivotal role in water resource system management and feasibility level planning for resource distribution. Considering this importance, a case study has been carried out in the Hancheon basin of Jeju Island where distinctive hydrological characteristics are investigated for continuous storm rainfall and high permeable geological features. The study aims to estimate unit hydrograph parameters, peak runoff and peak time of storm rainfalls based on Clark unit hydrograph method. For analyzing observed runoff, five storm rainfall events were selected randomly from recent years' rainfall and HEC-hydrologic modeling system (HMS) model was used for rainfall-runoff data processing. The simulation results showed that the peak runoff varies from 164 to 548 m3/sec and peak time (onset) varies from 8 to 27 hours. A comprehensive relationship between Clark unit hydrograph parameters (time of concentration and storage coefficient) has also been derived in this study. The optimized values of the two parameters were verified by the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and runoff comparison performance were analyzed by root mean square error (RMSE) and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) estimation. After statistical analysis of the Clark parameters significance level was found in 5% and runoff performances were found as 3.97 RMSE and 0.99 NSE, respectively. The calibration and validation results indicated strong coherence of unit hydrograph model responses to the actual situation of historical storm runoff events.

지식기반 영상개선을 위한 지문영상의 품질분석 (Fingerprint Image Quality Analysis for Knowledge-based Image Enhancement)

  • 지문영상으로부터 특징점을 정확하게 추출하는 것은 효과적인 지문인식 시스템의 구축에 매우 중요하다. 하지만 지문영상의 품질에 따라 특징점 추출의 정확도가 달라지기 때문에 지문인식 시스템에서의 영상 전처리 과정은 시스템의 성능에 크게 영향을 미친다. 본 논문에서는 지문영상으로부터 명암값의 평균 및 분산, 블록 방향성 차, 방향성 변화도, 융선과 골의 두께 비율 등의 5가지 특징을 추출하고 계층적 클러스터링 알고리즘으로 클러스터링하여 영상의 품질 특성을 분석한 후 습성(oily), 보통(neutral), 건성(dry)의 특성에 적합하게 영상을 개선하는 지식기반 전처리 방법을 제안한다. NIST DB 4와 인하대학교 데이타를 이용하여 실험한 결과, 클러스터링 기법이 영상의 특성을 제대로 구분함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 제안한 방법의 성능 평가를 위해 품질 지수와 블록 방향성 차이를 측정하여 일반적인 전처리 방법보다 지식기반 전처리 방법이 품질 지수와 블록 방향성 차이를 향상시킴을 확인할 수 있었다.

Quantitative Evaluation of Median Nerve Motor Function in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Using Load Cell : Correlation with Clinical, Electrodiagnostic, and Ultrasonographic Findings

  • Objective : Major complaints of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) are sensory components. However, motor deficit also impedes functional status of hand. Contrary to evaluation of sensory function, the objective, quantitative evaluation of median nerve motor function is not easy. The motor function of median was evaluated quantitatively using load cell and its correlation with findings of electrodiagnostic study (EDS) was evaluated. Methods : Objective motor function of median nerve was evaluated by load cell and personal computer-based measurement system. All of the measurement was done in patients diagnosed as having idiopathic CTS by clinical features and EDS findings. The strength of thumb abduction and index finger flexion was measured in each hand three times, and the average value was used to calculate thumb index ratio (TIR). The correlation of TIR with clinical, EDS, and ultrasonographic findings were evaluated. Results : The TIR was evaluated in 67 patients (119 hands). There were 14 males and 53 females, mean age were 57.6 years (range 28 to 81). The higher preoperative nerve conductive studies grade of the patients, the lower TIR was observed [p<0.001, analysis of variance (ANOVA)]. TIR of cases with thenar atrophy were significantly lower than those without (p<0.001, t-test). TIR were significantly lower in patients with severe median nerve swelling in ultrasonography (p=0.042, ANOVA). Conclusion : Measurements of median nerve motor function using load cell is a valuable evaluation tool in CTS. It might be helpful in detecting subclinical motor dysfunction before muscle atrophy develops.

대학도서관의 외국학술지 평가모형 개발을 위한 평가지표 분석 (Analysis of Evaluation Indicators for the Development of Evaluation Models of Foreign Academic Journals)

  • 본 연구는 인쇄잡지 중심의 소장 패러다임 대 전자잡지 위주의 접근 패러다임이 대립하는 상황에서 대학도서관의 하이브리드형 학술지 수집정책의 이론적 토대가 되는 평가요소를 분석하여 한국적 실정을 고려한 외국 학술지의 평가모형 개발에 필요한 기초자료를 마련하는데 그 목적이 있다. 구체적으로 질문지법을 통하여 학술지 수집규모 상위 40개 대학도서관의 외국학술지 선정과정에서 예비평가지표(인쇄형 27개, 전자형 37개)의 적용도를 조사하고, 그 데이터를 다양한 통계적기법으로 분석하였다. 인쇄학술지 평가지표의 요인별 상대적 중요성은 응답 평균값으로 산출하였는데 그 결과는 학과당 구독종수, 이용도, 선정권한, 전자학술지 구독조건, ISI 영향지수, 국제성과 지명도, 구독가격, ILL/DDS 수장공간 순으로 나타났다. 한편, 전자학술지는 구독가격, 접근성, 전자학술지 구독조건, 컨소시엄, 선정권한, 접근확장성, 학과당 구독종수, 대학의 학문적 특성, ISI 영향지수, ILL/DDS 국제성과 지명도 순으로 나타났다.

웨이블렛 변환을 이용한 통계적 가설검정에 의한 영상융합 (Image Fusion Based on Statistical Hypothesis Test Using Wavelet Transform)

  • 영상융합이란 두 개 이상의 영상을 하나의 영상으로 결합하는 기술로 원격탐사, 컴퓨터 비전, 로보틱스, 의료영상 그리고 군사분야 등 여러 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 지금까지 웨이블렛 변환을 이용한 영상 융합규칙들은 웨이블렛 분해 후 얻어진 각 영역에서 평균 혹은 분산과 같은 액티비티(activity) 측도를 단순 수치 비교를 통하여 영상융합의 픽셀을 선택하였다. 이 경우 특징을 갖고 있는 영상이 융합과정에서 배제될 수 있고 또한 잡음의 영향으로 왜곡된 융합영상을 얻을 가능성이 높다. 본 논문에서는 웨이블렛 변환 하에 분산에 대한 통계적 검정인 제곱 순위 검정을 사용하여 통계적으로 유의하다고 판단되는 영역만을 융합 영상의 대체 영역으로 선택하였다. 영상 실험 결과 제안된 방법은 가시적인 평가에서 뿐 만 아니라 정량적인 평가에서도 입력 영상의 종류와 관계없이 기존의 방법들 보다 뛰어난 결과를 보여주었다.
