Electrical breakdown characteristics of liquid nitrogen($LN_2$) taking into consideration for application of high $T_c$ superconductor is very important. Also $LN_2$ will be used as both coolant and insulator in superconducting generator. In this paper, we investigated ac breakdown characteristics of cryogenic nitrogen gas above a $LN_2$ for rod-to plane electrode configuration. As result the breakdown mechanism of $LN_2$is dependence on bubble effect. And breakdown voltage is a ratio on bubble s size but electrodes arrangement is to make no difference. The breakdown voltage decreases slightly with increasing flow velocity, it again decreases abruptly with increasing flow velocity. These results were interpreted as the within pressure of rod electrode and Maxwell force.
The electrostatic chuck is a technology that uses electroadhesion to attach objects and is widely used in semiconductor and display processes. This research conducted Maxwell by varying parameters to examine the distribution and variations of chucking force in a bipolar-type ESC. The parameters that were changed include the material properties of the dielectric layer and attachment substrate, applied voltage to the electrode, and the gap and width between the electrodes. The analysis results showed that as the relative permittivity of the dielectric layer and substrate increased, the chucking force also increased, with the relative permittivity of the substrate having a greater impact on the chucking force. And increasing the applied voltage led to an increase in both the chucking force and its rate of change. Lastly, as the gap between the electrodes increased, the chucking force rapidly decreased until a certain distance, after which the decrease became less significant. On the contrary, increasing the electrode width resulted in a rapid increase in the chucking force until a certain width, beyond which the increase became less pronounced, eventually converging to a chucking force of 1700 Pa. This paper is expected to have high potential for the development and research of ESC for OLED deposition.
Ezra Pound has an idea of poetry as a field of energy in which words interact with each other with kinetic energy. The energy field which Pound creates in his poem is analogous to the theory of electromagnetism developed by Michael Faraday and James Maxwell, who look upon the space around magnets, electric charges and currents not as empty but as filled with energy and activity. Pound argues that "words are charged with force like electricity," demonstrating that words charged with their own images or energies of positive or negative valence interact one another. This idea is similar to Faraday's concept of "line of force" which he used to represent the disposition of electric and magnetic forces in space. Pound's concept of "image" as an "intellectual and emotional complex in an instant" is remarkably consonant with the confluence of electric and magnetic fields that are coupled to each other as they travel through space in the form of electromagnetic waves. The instant profusion of conception and perception, much like that of electric and magnetic fields, enables Pound to move beyond the sequential and linear hierarchy in time and space. Particularly, Maxwell's stunning discovery that the electromagnetic waves propagate in space at 'the speed of light' has allowed Pound a relativistic sense of escape from the limitations of Newtonian absolute time and space. Pound's poetry transcends any geographical space and sequential time by rendering and juxtaposing images simultaneously. Pound was fully aware of light and electricity fundamental to what he called his world "the electric world." Pound's experiments in Imagism and Vorticism can be considered an attempt to rediscover a place for poetry in the modern world of science and technology. Almost all the appliances that we think of today as modern were laid down in the closing decades of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century, in response to the availability of electromagnetic energy. This paper explores how Pound responded to the age of modern technology and science, examining his conception of "image" through his many analogies and similes drawn from electromagnetism. Pound's imagist poetics and poetry come to embody, not only the characteristics of the electric age in the early twentieth century, but the principles of electromagnetism the electric age is based upon.
This paper presents an adaptive finite element method for magnetostatic force computation using Maxwell's stress tensor. Mesh refinements are performed automatically by interelement magnetic field intensity discontinuity errors and element force errors. In initial mesh, the computed forces for different integration paths give great differences, but converge to a certain value as mesh division is performed by the adaptive scheme, We obtained good agreement between analytic solutions and numerical values in typical examples.
Green vehicles include electric vehicles, natural gas vehicles, fuel cell vehicles (FCV), and vehicles running on fuel such as a biodiesel or an ethanol blend. An FCV is equipped with a cylinder valve installed in an ultra-high pressure vessel to control the hydrogen flow. For this purpose, an optimum design of the solenoid actuator is necessary to ensure reliability when driving an FCV. In this study, an electromagnetic field analysis for ensuring reliable operation of the solenoid actuator was conducted by using Maxwell V15. The electromagnetic field analysis was performed by magnetostatic technique, according to the distance between magnetic poles in order to predict the attraction force. Finally, the attraction force was validated through comparison between the Maxwell results and measurement results. From the results, the error of attraction force ranged from 4.53 % to 9.05 % at testing conditions.
During all mechanical processes rice plants are subjected to verious forces such as natural load of wind and mechanical load of agricultural machines. A force is always accompanied by deformation, which must be either sufficiently great for pressing or sufficiently slight in order to avoid damage. The mechanical behavior of the rice plants is determined by three variables : force, deformation and time. And they must be studied using rheological methods to determine their viscoelastic properties. This study is conducted to experimentally determine the mechanical and rheological properties of the rice stalks subjected to radial load. The force relaxation tests are performed under constant deformation, during which the reduction of forces over time is measured. The mechanical models were developed from the abtained data. The results were as follows : 1. The relaxation behavior of a rice stalk in radial compession may be described by a generalized Maxwell model consisting of 3 Maxwell elements in parallel. 2. Relaxatiom intensity always decreased with increased time of relaxation. 3. The rate of deformation has a significant effect on the relaxation behavior. having increasing pattern with an increase in rate of deformation. 4. The relaxation intensity and residual deformation increased with increased initial load. 5. The relaxtion of the intermediate portion of stalk was bigger tham that of the upper and lower portions.
Growing concerns regarding environmental pollution have increased the demand for green vehicles. Green vehicles include electric vehicles, compressed natural gas vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, and vehicles running on fuels such as bio diesel or an ethanol blend. CNG vehicles are equipped with a cylinder valve installed in a high-pressure vessel to control the CNG flow. For this purpose, the optimum design of cylinder valve solenoid is necessary to secure at driving a CNG vehicle. In this study, electromagnetic field analysis to ensure the reliable operation of the solenoid was conducted by using a Maxwell V15. The electromagnetic field analysis was performed by magnetostatic technique according to distance between magnetic poles in order to predict the attraction force. Finally, the attraction force was validated through comparison between the Maxwell results and the measurement results. From the results, the error of attraction force was found to be 2.85 N to 6.5 N under the testing conditions.
This paper describes the electromagnetic and mechanical characteristics of coaxial magnetic gear (CMG) with a low gear ratio. The analysis models are restricted to a CMG with a gear ratio of less than 2. The electromagnetic characteristics including transmitted torque and iron losses are presented according to the variation of the gear ratio. The pole pairs of high speed rotor are chosen as 6, 8 and 10 by considering the torque capability. As the gear ratio approaches 1, both iron losses on the ferromagnetic materials and eddy current losses on the rotor permanent magnets are increased. The radial and tangential forces on the modulating pieces are calculated using the Maxwell stress tensor. When the maximum force is exerted on the modulating pieces, the mechanical characteristics including stress and deformation are derived by structural analysis. In CMG models with a low gear ratio, the maximum radial force acting on modulating pieces is larger than that in CMG models with a high gear ratio, and the normal stress and normal deformation are increased in a CMG with a low gear ratio. Therefore, modulating pieces should be designed to withstand larger radial forces in CMG with a low gear ratio compared to CMG with a high gear ratio.
This paper presents normal force analysis and its minimization of synchronous permanent magnet planar motor(SPMPM) with Halbach array. Firstly, the experimental error of thrust is investigated and it is caused by the friction force generated by normal force. Then normal force Is analyzed by Maxwell stress tensor. At last, the normal force is minimized by using genetic algorithm and it is decreased from 672.83[N] to 144.24[N] remarkably.
