In this study, the variations of tensile strength and yield strength of Al-20% Si alloy were studied. Copper, magnesium and nickel as alloying elements added from 1% to 3% respectively. The temperature range was from room temperature to $350^{\circ}C$. The refinement of primary silicon crystal was treated with phosphorous addition. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Tensile strnegth and yield strength showed more increased strength in refining treated alloy than that of in nonrefining alloy at elevated temperature. 2. Tensile strength and yield strength were increased with the contents of copper. Tensile strength showed the maximum at $150^{\circ}C$, but yield strength was decreased with increasing temperature. 3. The effect of magnesium addition on tensile strength and yield strength showed the maximum at 1% addition and $150^{\circ}C$. 4. Tensile strength and yield strength showed a slight increase with the content changes of nickel and they were decreased with increasing temperature.
In this study, high temperature tensile properties of high strength steels(POSTEN60, POSTEN80) were investigated. The three-dimensional thermal elastic-plastic analyses were conducted to investigate the characteristics of welding residual stresses in welds of high strength steels on the basis of thermal and mechanical properites at high temperature obtained from the experiment. According to the results, high temperature tensile strength of POSTEN60 steel deteriorated slowly to 10$0^{\circ}C$. As the temperature went up, the tensile strength became better because of blue shortness, and it deteriorated radically after reaching to the maximum value around 30$0^{\circ}C$. For the POSTEN80 steel, high temperature tensile strength deteriorated slowly to 20$0^{\circ}C$. As the temperature went up the tensile strength became better and it deteriorated slowly to $600^{\circ}C$ after reached to the maximum value around 30$0^{\circ}C$. Strain of high strength steels at the elevated temperature increased radically after the mercury rose to $600^{\circ}C$. The strain hardening ratio of POSTEN60 steel was larger then that of POSTEN80 steel at the elevated temperature as in the case at the room temperature and it became smaller radically after the mercury rose to 40$0^{\circ}C$. And, in the welding of high strength steels, increasing tensile strength of the steel (POSTEN60

The present study examined the mechanical properties of the friction welding of Ni-Cr-Mo to SM45C. Friction welding was conducted at welding conditions of 2,000 rpm, friction pressure of 100MPa, friction time of 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 seconds, upset pressure of 150MPa, and upset time of 3.0 seconds. When the friction time was 1.6 seconds, the maximum tensile strength of the friction weld happened to be 1,020MPa, which is 120% of the base material's tensile strength(850MPa). At the same condition, the maximum shear strength was 438MPa, which is equivalent to 103% of the base material's shear strength(425MPa). At the same condition, the maximum vickers hardness was Hv490 at Ni-Cr-Mo nearby weld interface, which is higher Hv40 than condition of the friction time 0.8 seconds, and the maximum vickers hardness was Hv305 from weld interface of SM45C, which is higher Hv12 than condition of the friction time 0.8 seconds. The results of microstructure analysis show that the structures of two base materials have fined and rearranged along a column due to heating and axial force during friction, which has affected in raising hardness and tensile strength.
New methods for joining sheet of metal are being sought. One of the most promising methods is MPJ (mechanical press joining). It has been used in thin metal work because of its simple process and relative advantages over other methods, as it requires no fasteners such as bolts or rivets, consumes less energy than welding, and produces less ecological problems than adhesive methods. In this study, the joining process and static behavior of single overlap joints has been investigated. During fixed die type joining process for SPCC plates, the optimal applied punching force was found. The maximum tensile-shear strength of the specimen produced at the optimal punching force was 1.75 kN. The FEM analysis result on the tensile-shear specimen showed the maximum von-Mises stress of 373 MPa under the applied load of 1.7 kN, which is very close to the maximum tensile strength of the SPCC sheet(= 382 MPa). This suggests that the FEM analysis is capable of predicting the maximum tensile load of the joint.

A reliable tensile test technique for PDP's barrier rib materials was introduced. A tensile specimen was prepared by punching out of green sheet, curing the specimen in a high temperature furnace, attaching sand paper tabs on each grip ends, and then attaching two strain gages for the strain monitoring and specimen alignment. Preliminary tensile tests were successfully done with the specimens made from ZnO-based lead-free green sheet. The specimens cured at 3 different maximum curing temperatures were tested to demonstrate the applicability of the test method. The Young's modulus was 88 ${\pm}$ 4 GPa regardless of the maximum curing temperature. The ultimate tensile strength was decreased with increasing the temperature. The tensile test method proposed in this study was proven to be reliable, useful and easy to estimate the bulk mechanical properties of barrier rib materials.
Reinforced concrete (RC) does not provide sufficient resistance against impacts and blast loads, and the brittle structure of RC fails to protect against fractures due to the lack of shock absorption. Investigations on improving its resistance against explosion and impact have been actively conducted on high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (HPFRCCs), such as fiber-reinforced concrete and ultra-high-performance concrete. For these HPFRCCs, however, tensile strength and toughness are still significantly lower compared to compressive strength due to their limited fiber volume fraction. Therefore, in this study, the tensile behavior of slurry-infiltrated fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (SIFRCCs), which can accommodate a large number of steel fibers, was analyzed under static and dynamic loading to improve the shortcomings of RC and to enhance its explosion and impact resistance. The fiber volume fractions of SIFRCCs were set to 4%, 5%, and 6%, and three strain rate levels (maximum strain rate: 250 s-1) were applied. As a result, the tensile strength exceeded 15 MPa under static load, and the dynamic tensile strength reached a maximum of 40 MPa. In addition, tensile characteristics, such as tensile strength, deformation capacity, and energy absorption capacity, were improved as the fiber volume fraction and strain rate increased.
This investigation has been carried out to make clear the effect of deformation temperature, strain rate and grain size on the tensile properties of 304L stainless steel. Tensile properties of the metastable austenitic 304L steel remarkably influenced by deformation temperature. Tensile strength increased with decreasing deformation temperature and the elongation showed maximum value near $40^{\circ}C$. In order to obtain the high elongation, a large amount of deformation is available in austenite before martensitic transformation and the martensite has to be induced gradually. Tensile strength and elongation increased with decreasing grain size. The temperature representing the maximum elongation shifted to low temperature and the peak width of elongation became broaden with decreasing austenite grain size. The volume fraction of strain induced martensite decreased with decreasing austenite grain size. As the strain rate increase, the temperature representing the maximum elongation value shifted to high temperature and volume fraction of strain induced martensite decreased.
The tensile and fatigue experiments were conducted with tensile-shear specimens for investigating the strength of adhesive bonded and mechanical press joints of SPCC steel sheet used in the field of the automobile industry. The optimal punch press force was evaluated 50kN for combining epoxy adhesive bonding and mechanical press joining with a diameter of 8.3mm using SPCC sheet with a thickness of 0.8mm. The combining epoxy adhesive bonding and mechanical press joining exhibits the maximum tensile force of 750N. The fatigue strengths of the combination of adhesive bond and mechanical press joint and pure adhesive joint were evaluated 370N and 320N at 106cycles, respectively. These values correspond to 22% and 20% of their maximum tensile forces, respectively. However, the fatigue strength of the combination of adhesive bond and mechanical press joining was much lower than that of pure mechanical press joining.

An empirical relationship between parameters from SP curves and tensile properties has been systematically investigated by experimental tests and FEM simulations. A series of SP and tensile tests were performed. SP tests were also simulated by FE analysis with various tensile properties. It was found that the yield loads(Py) and the maximum loads( $P_{MAX}$) in SP curves were linearly related with the yield strength($\sigma$$_{o}$) and the tensile strength($\sigma$$_{UTS}$), respectively. The yield loads defined from the intersection point of two lines tangent to the elastic bending region and plastic bending region showed better relation to the yield strength than those from offset line. The maximum loads in SP curves showing plastic instability region was linearly related with the tensile strengths. The slope of SP curves in simulation results had a close correlation with the hardening coefficient and hardening strength as well.l.l.l.
Bending and tensile properties of 2D cross-ply C/C composites with processing heat treatment temperature (HTT) are evaluated. C/C composites used are made from two types of PAN based T700 and M40 carbon fibers with phenolic resin as carbon matrix precursor. Both the types of composites are heat treated at different temperatures (ranging from 750 to $2800^{\circ}C$) and characterized for bending and tensile properties. It is observed that, real density and open porosity increases with HTT, however, bulk density does show remarkable change. The real density and open porosity are higher in case T-700 carbon fiber composites at $2800^{\circ}C$, even though the density of M40 carbon fiber is higher. Bending strength is considerably greater than tensile strength through out the processing HTT due to the different mode of fracture. The bending and tensile strength decreases in both composites on $1000^{\circ}C$ which attributed to decrease in bulk density, thereafter with increase in HTT, bending and tensile strength increases. The maximum strength is in T700 fiber based composites at HTT $1500^{\circ}C$ and in M40 fiber based composites at HTT $2500^{\circ}C$. After attending the maximum value of strength in both types of composite at deflection HTT, after that strength decreases continuously. Decrease in strength is due to the degradation of fiber properties and in-situ fiber damages in the composite. The maximum carbon fiber strength realization in C/C composites is possible at a temperature that is same of fiber HTT. It has been found first time that the bending strength more or less 1.55 times higher in T700 fiber composites and in M40 fiber composites bending strength is 1.2 times higher than that of tensile strength of C/C composites.
