  • Efficiency optimization of an indirect vector controlled induction motor drive is proposed. The loss models are used in the validation of the fuzzy logic based on-line efficiency optimization control. At steady state, the fuzzy controller adaptively changes the excitation current on the basis of measured input power, until the maximum efficiency point is reached. The pulsating torque, due to flux reduction, has been compensated by an ingenious feedforward scheme. During transient state, rated flux is established to get the best transient response. Through a comprehensive simulation study, the results confirmed the validity of the proposed method.

  • The discharge and the collection efficiency characteristics of an electrostatic precipitator have been studied under various operating conditions. The specific resistivity of pulverized coal dust was about 1013∼1014[${\Omega}{\cdot}cm$] and reached the maximum value of 6${\times}$1013[${\Omega}{\cdot}cm$] at 150[$^{\circ}C$]. Back corona has been occurred as dust contents and gas temperature increase. In the case of back corona occurrence, collection effciency decreased rapidly. This problem has been solved by increasing moisture contents. Experimental results showed that collection efficiency of the full wave voltage was higher than that of the pulse wave voltage. The modification parameter k of the collection efficiency equation was about 0.42.

Design of Centrifugal Impeller for Passenger Car by Flow Field Analysis (유동장 해석을 통한 승용차 원심 회전차의 형상 설계)

  • For the purpose of the enhancement of the air conditioner performance and fuel effciency, several cases of centrifugal impeller for passenger car air conditioner have been numerically analyzed by changing central angle of blades and length of outlet for shape optimization of the impeller. Commercial CFD program Fluent 6.3.26 has been used to compute velocity, temperature, pressure and turbulence intensity that can lead numerous results. The central angles of two blades and three cases of outlet length led 4~12% and 3.5~6.4% differences of velocity and flow rate, respectively. The velocity distribution near the blade surface was axisymmetric and had a maximum value of 22.19 m/s and velocity of the vertical direction of the impeller showed linear increase with horizontal direction. At case 3 of oultet length, there existed a a minimum pressure value of -133320 Pa.
