MTPA control algorithm for an IPMSM drive reflecting the PM flux linkage variation (영구자석 쇄교 자속 변화를 고려한 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 MTPA 제어 알고리즘 개발)

  • This paper presents a Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTPA) control algorithm for an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive considering the permanent magnet (PM) flux linkage variations due to PM temperature variation. PM flux linkage are estimated in real time via a Gopinath style stator flux linkage observer and a torque error correction factor is calculated from the estimated PM flux linkage. A 2-dimensional (2D) MTPA look-up table (LUT) is developed to achieve the MTPA trajectory reflecting PM flux linkage variation for compensating torque error occurred by parameter variation. The proposed IPMSM control algorithm is verified through simulations.

  • The weight of an antenna system pointing satellite on the mobile platform is restricted by the weight limit of the mobile platform. The maximum power of the actuator driving the antenna system is thus limited because a high power actuator needs a heavier weight. Thus, a drive system is designed to have a low torque requirement by reducing the gravitational torque depending on gravity or acceleration of the mobile platform, including vibration, shock, and accelerated motion. To reduce the gravitational torque, the mathematical model of the gravitational torque is preferentially obtained. However, the method to directly estimate the mathematical model in an antenna system has not previously been reported. In this paper, a method is proposed to estimate the gravitational torque as a mathematical model in the antenna system. Additionally, a method is also proposed to calculate the optimal weight of the balancing weight to compensate for the gravitational torque.

Because the magnet form influences to the magnet-torque and reluctance torque.   • The basic concepts, which are related to the PSS tuning conditions and performance conditions for the safe of determination of PSS gain and compensation of phasor lagging, are thoroughly investigated in this first part. The performance conditions, where the power system has the lowest inherent damping torque and PSS should provide maximum damping torque, are examined by analysing synchronizing torque and damping torque supplied by the voltage control loop at the oscillation frequency. PSS tuning conditions are also investigated by observing the phasor lagging and the gain, resulted from power system-generator-excitation system depending on operating conditions, such as generator active power, reactive power, transmission impedance and AVR gain. The basic concepts developed in this PartImake it possible to lay foundation for the discussion of PSS tuning in Part II.

The Practical Method and Experimental Verification of Temperature Estimation in the Permanent Magnet of Electric Machine

  • This paper presents a practical method for estimation of average temperature in the permanent magnet (PM) of electric machine by using finite element analysis (FEA) and dynamo load experiment. First of all, the temperature effect of PM to the torque has been employed by FEA in order to evaluate the Temperature-Torque characteristic curve. The 1st order polynomial equation which is torque attenuation coefficient is derived by the FEA result of the Temperature-Torque curve. Next, torque saturation test with constant current condition is performed by dynamo load experiment. Then, the temperature trend can be estimated by adding the initial starting temperature using the torque attenuation coefficient and torque saturation curve. Lastly, estimated temperature is validated by infrared thermometer which measures temperature of PM surface. The comparison between the estimated result and experimental result gives a good agreement within a deviation of maximum $8^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper deals with the ripple reduction of the electromagnetic torque developed in IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor). Generally, torque ripple is an important causes of vibration and noise of motor. For reducing torque ripple in IPM with nonsinusoidal EMF, the optimal current which is able to control maximum torque/ampere is considered to be introduced In the proposed method. The fact of torque ripple being reduced when the optimal current Is used in motor is verified through simulation and experiment.

  • In this paper the electromagnetic torque developed in IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is analyzed. If flux distributions in the motor are not sinusoidal, a sinusoidal current produces important torque ripple. Torque ripple causes vibration and noise of motors. The optimized current waveforms for ripple free is able to be obtained by analysis of Back-EMF and torque equation. The method to find the optimal current is based on numerical predetermination. In this paper proposes current waveform which can eliminate the torque ripple, and the validity is verified through the simulation.

  • This paper proposes a new torque control algorithm for BLDC motors to get the maximum torque in the high speed region. The delay of the phase currents is severe due to the stator reactance. The torque fluctuations of BLDC motors increase and the average torque is decreases due to a slow rise in the phase current when compared to the back EMF. In this paper, the phase current of BLDC motors under the high speed condition is analyzed and a torque maximization control is developed on the basis of using numerical analysis. Computer simulations and experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed control algorithm.

  • In this paper, maximum torque per current ratio of the interior permanent magnet synchronous machines including compensation of Ne-Fe-B magnets in negative temperature sensitivity is described. This compensation can be achieved by measuring of motor temperature only.
