The polycrystalline powder of (CaLa) (MgMo)$O_6$ has been prepared at $1350^{\circ}C$ in $H_2/H_2O$ and $N_2$ flowing atmosphere. The powder X-ray diffraction pattern indicates that (CaLa) (MgMo)$O_6$ has a monoclinic perovskite structure with the lattice constants $a_0=b_0=7.901(1){\AA}$, $c =7.875(1){\AA}\;and\;{\gamma}=89^{\circ}$16'(1'), which can be reduced to orthorhombic unit cell, a = 5.551(1) ${\AA}$, b = 5.622(1) ${\AA}$ and c = 7.875(1) ${\AA}$. The infrared spectrum shows two strong absorption bands with their maxima at 590($ν_3$) and 380($ν_4$) cm, which are attributed to $2T_{1u}$ modes indicating the existence of highly charged molybdenum octahedron $MoO_6$ in the crystal lattice. According to the magnetic susceptibility measurement, the compound follows the Curie-Weiss law below room temperature with the effective magnetic moment 1.83(1)$_{{\mu}B}$, which is well consistent with that of spin only value (1.73 $_{\mu}_B$) for $Mo^{5+}$ with $4d^1$-electronic configuration within the limit of experimental error. From the thermogravimetric analysis, it has been confirmed that (CaLa) (MgMo)$O_6$ decomposes gradually into $CaMoO_4,\;MoO_3,\;MgO,\;La_2O_3$ and unidentified phases due to the oxidation of $Mo^{5+}$ to $Mo^{6+}$.
In this study, a convenient approach for sensitive, quick and simple detection of hazardous acids was investigated. A series of azo dyes were synthesized and applied as a chemosensor for the acid detection both on fibers and in solution. Various aniline, benzothiazole or isoxazole derivatives were used as diazo component and coupled with N-benzyl-N-ethylaniline or 2,2'-(phenylimino)bis-ethanol to give azo based dyes. The acid sensing phenomenon was observed by naked-eye and detection was further confirmed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer and hue difference(ΔH*) evaluation. The developed sensors showed a distinct and quick color change from yellow to magenta by addition of trace amounts of the hazardous acids. The absorption maxima was shifted to a longer wavelength by 70 ~ 150nm and hue difference(ΔH*) was 60 ~ 120°. A cotton fiber coated with Dye 1 exhibited excellent storage stability under various temperature(-30 ~ 43℃) and humidity(30 ~ 80%) conditions without discoloration and fading of the fiber sensors. Also the acid sensing properties were maintained.

In this paper, we propose methods to improve image-based auto-focus that can compensate for drawbacks of traditional auto-focus control. When adjusting the focus, there is a problem that the focus window cannot be set to the same position if the camera's LOS is not directed at the same location and flow or shake. To address this issue, we applied image tracking techniques to improve optimal focus localization accuracy. And also, although the same focus value should be calculated at the same focus step, but different values can be calculated by camera's fine shaking or image disturbance due to atmospheric scattering. To tackle this problem a SAFS (Stable Adjacency Frame Selection) has been proposed. As a result of this study, our proposed methodology shows more accurate than traditional methods in terms of finding best focus position.
Power line signal can show disturbances due to various causes. Typical anomalies are temporary sag/swell of the amplitude, flat topped signal, and harmonic distortions. The disturbances need to be detected and treated properly for the quality of the power signal. In this study, the power disturbances are detected using the inflection points (IP). The inflection points are defined as points where local maxima/minima or the slope changes occur. The power line signal has a fixed IP pattern since it is basically sinusoidal, and it may have additional inflection points if there is any disturbance. The disturbance is detected by comparing the IP patterns between the normal signal and distorted signal. In addition, by defining a cost function, the time instant where the disturbance happens can be decided. The computer simulation shows that the proposed method is useful for the detection of various disturbances. The simple sag or swell signal only shows the amplitude changes at the detected inflection points. However, the flat top signal and harmonically distorted signal produce additional inflection points and large values in the cost function. These results can be exploited for the further processing of disturbance classification.
This study examined the effect of solar flux (F10.7) and sunspots number (R) on the daily variation of equatorial electrojet (EEJ) and morning/afternoon counter electrojet (MCEJ/ACEJ) in the ionospheric E region across the eight longitudinal sectors during quiet days from January 2008 to December 2013. In particular, we focus on both minimum and maximum solar cycle of 24. For this purpose, we have collected a 6-year ground-based magnetic data from multiple stations to investigate EEJ/CEJ climatology in the Peruvian, Brazilian, West & East African, Indian, Southeast Asian, Philippine, and Pacific sectors with the corresponding F10.7 and R data from satellites simultaneously. Our results reveal that the variations of monthly mean EEJ intensities were consistent with the variations of solar flux and sunspot number patterns of a cycle, further indicating that there is a significant seasonal and longitudinal dependence. During the high solar cycle period, F10.7 and R have shown a strong peak around equinoctial months, consequently, the strong daytime EEJs occurred in the Peruvian and Southeast Asian sectors followed by the Philippine regions throughout the years investigated. In those sectors, the correlation between the day Maxima EEJ and F10.7 strengths have a positive value during periods of high solar activity, and they have relatively higher values than the other sectors. A predominance of MCEJ occurrences is observed in the Brazilian (TTB), East African (AAE), and Peruvian (HUA) sectors. We have also observed the CEJ dependence on solar flux with an anti-correlation between ACEJ events and F10.7 are observed especially during a high solar cycle period.

The wave height and period regression curve is widely used to estimate the design wave period. In this study, the parameters of the curves are estimated, compared, and evaluated using the linear, robust linear, and nonlinear regression methods, respectively. The data used in the design wave height estimation are the annual maxima (AM) wave height and period data sets divided by typhoon and non-typhoon conditions, provided by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (2019). The estimation parameters show significant differences in the local coastal waters and the estimation methods. The estimation parameters based on the Suh et al. (2008, 2010) method show the apparent bias, under-estimation in the intercept (scale) parameter, and over-estimation in the slope (exponent) parameter, respectively.
The kinetic study of rifamycin B production in batch culture of Nocardia mediterranei was undertaken in part of our endeavor to optimize the fermentation condition. The growth parameters such as $\mu$$_{m}$ and Ks values for nitrogen source were evaluated by employing Monod equation. From the experiments, $\mu$$_{m}$ and Ks were 0.15hr$^{-1}$ and 8.35g/1, respectively. The growth kinetics in batch culture was found successfully interpreted by logistic law, i.e., the initial specific growth rate and the maximum cell mass concentration were determined as function of pH and both found to have maxima. For the production of rifamycin B, a non-growth associated production kinetics was employed and the specific productivity as a function of pH was found to have two maximum points. The yield coefficient and the specific productivity were calculated as mean values in production phase. Utilizing these experimental data as a function of pH, the optimal condition for the rifamycin B production was discussed with regad to the pH effect on the cell growth and production of the antibiotic. As a result, growth phase at pH 6.5 and production phase at pH 7.0 were found to be recommended.ded.

This study quantified the data by applying the EDA techniques considering the data structure, and the results were then used for the frequency analysis. Although traditional methods based on the method of moments provide very sensitive statistics to the extreme values, the EDA techniques have an advantage of providing very stable statistics with their small variation. For the application of the EDA techniques to the frequency analysis, it is necessary to normalization transform and inverse-transform to conserve the skewness of the raw data. That is, it is necessary to transform the raw data to make the data follow the normal distribution, to estimate the statistics by applying the EDA techniques, and then finally to inverse-transform the statistics of transformed data. These statistics decided are then applied for the frequency analysis with a given probability density function. This study analyzed the annual maxima one hour rainfall data at Seoul and Pohang stations. As a result, it was found that more stable rainfall quantiles, which were also less sensitive to extreme values, could be estimated by applying the EDA techniques. This methodology may be effectively used for the frequency analysis of rainfall at stations with especially high annual variations of rainfall due to climate change, etc.
The revenue histogram of venture businesses is shifting from bell-shaped normal distribution to power-law distribution, which implies that the fitness landscape of the venture businesses ecosystem is changing to be more rugged terrain. We argue that the firm should adopt both exploitation (fast follower) and exploration (or first mover) strategies not to get stuck in local maxima in the rugged fitness landscape from the complex system perspective. By designing and performing agent-based modeling simulation experiments which consist of three types of agents (new technologies, entrepreneurs, and consumers), we demonstrated that the ambidexterity strategy showed the highest performance score in three of four different environment except 'Fast Widening' case where the exploitation strategy showed the highest performance score under low technology appropriation and fast disruptive technology development speed. By investigating the financial and other statistics of 617 top venture businesses who have earned 100B won or higher annual revenue, we concluded that 82% and 9% of firms are bent on the exploitation and exploration strategy.

Eu3+-doped BaZrO3 (BaZrO3:Eu3+) phosphor powders were prepared using a solid-state reaction by changing the molar concentration of Eu3+ within the range of 0.5 to 30 mol%. Irrespective of the molar concentration of Eu3+ ions, the crystal structures of all the phosphors were cubic. The excitation spectra of BaZrO3:Eu3+ phosphors consisted of an intense broad band centered at 277 nm in the range of 230~320 nm. The emission spectra were composed of a dominant orange band at 595 nm arising from the 5D0→7F1 magnetic dipole transition of Eu3+ and two weak emission bands centered at 574 and 615 nm, respectively. As the concentration of Eu3+ increased from 0.5 to 10 mol%, the intensities of all the emission bands gradually increased, approached maxima at 10 mol% of Eu3+ ions, and then showed a decreasing tendency with further increase in the Eu3+ ions due to the concentration quenching. The critical distance between neighboring Eu3+ ions for concentration quenching was calculated to be 11.21 Å, indicating that dipole-dipole interaction was the main mechanism of concentration quenching of BaZrO3:Eu3+ phosphors. The results suggest that the orange emission intensity can be modulated by doping the appropriate concentration of Eu3+ ions.
