  • In this paper, we further investigate the local Hermitian and skew-Hermitian splitting (LHSS) iteration method and the modified LHSS (MLHSS) iteration method for solving generalized nonsymmetric saddle point problems with nonzero (2,2) blocks. When A is non-symmetric positive definite, the convergence conditions are obtained, which generalize some results of Jiang and Cao [M.-Q. Jiang and Y. Cao, On local Hermitian and Skew-Hermitian splitting iteration methods for generalized saddle point problems, J. Comput. Appl. Math., 2009(231): 973-982] for the generalized saddle point problems to generalized nonsymmetric saddle point problems with nonzero (2,2) blocks. Numerical experiments show the effectiveness of the iterative methods.

  • In this paper, we first provide a convergence result of the generalized two-stage splitting method for solving a linear system whose coefficient matrix is an H-matrix, and then we provide convergence results of the generalized multisplitting and two-stage multisplitting methods for both a monotone matrix and an H-matrix.

  • We study convergence of multisplitting method associated with a block diagonal conformable multisplitting for solving a linear system whose coefficient matrix is a symmetric positive definite matrix which is not an H-matrix. Next, we study the validity of m-step multisplitting polynomial preconditioners which will be used in the preconditioned conjugate gradient method.

  • This paper proposes Generalized Stationary Iterative called GSI method. It is shown that the existing stationary iterative methods are special cases of GSI method. Convergence properties of this method are provided and their numerical experiments for linear systems with symmetric positive definite matrix are also provided.

  • We propose new parallel block ILU (Incomplete LU) factorization preconditioners for a nonsymmetric block-tridiagonal M-matrix. Theoretial properties of these block preconditioners are studied to see the convergence rate of the preconditioned iterative methods, Lastly, numerical results of the right preconditioned GMRES and BiCGSTAB methods using the block ILU preconditioners are compared with those of these two iterative methods using a standard ILU preconditioner to see the effectiveness of the block ILU preconditioners.

  • A new scheme for solving the Vlasov equation using a compactly supported wavelets basis is proposed. We use a numerical method which minimizes the numerical diffusion and conserves a reasonable time computing cost. So we introduce a representation in a compactly supported wavelet of the derivative operator. This method makes easy and simple the computation of the coefficients of the matrix representing the operator. This allows us to solve the two equations which result from the splitting technique of the main Vlasov equation. Some numerical results are exposed using different numbers of wavelets.

  • The bimodal distribution of CuCl nano-crystals precipitated in alumino-borosilicate glass matrix (30SiO2-45B2O3-7.5Al2O3-7.5Na2O-7.5CaO-2.5GeO2(mole %)) was investigated by TEM and the temperature dependent optical spectroscopy. Two types of CuCl particles with different size were observed by TEM and it was confirmed by the splitting of Z3 absorption peak at low temperature and the occurrence of deflection point in the optical spectra with temperature.

  • The Characteristic Flux Difference Splitting (CFDS) scheme designed to adapt the characteristic boundary conditions at the wall and inflow/outflow boundary planes satisfies Roe's property U, although the CFDS Jacobian matrix is decomposed by a product of elaborate transformation matrices and explicit eigenvalue matrix. When the CFDS algorithm, thus a variant of Roe's scheme, is applied straightforwardly to hypersonic flows over a blunt body, the strong bow shock gradually breaks down near the stagnation point. This numerical instability is widely observed by many researchers employing flux-difference method, known in the literature as the carbuncle phenomenon. Many remedies have been proposed and resulted in partial cures. When the idea of Sanders et al. which identifies the minimum eigenvalues near the discontinuity present is applied to CFDS method, it is shown that the instability problem can be controlled successfully. A few flux splitting methods have also been tested and results are compared against the Nakamori's Mach 8 blunt body flow.

  • In this paper the CSCM type upwind flux difference splitting Navier-Stokes method has been applied to study the ARL-SL19 supersonic/transonic compressor cascade flow. H-type grid was chosen for its simplicity in applying cyclic tridiagonal matrix algorithm along with conventional slip/no-slip boundary conditions. The thin-layer algebraic model of Baldwin-Lomax was employed for the calculation of turbulent flows. The test case inlet Mach No. was 1.612 and inlet/exit pressure ratio($P_2/P_1$) was 2.15. The results were compared with experimental results from current method were compared well in suction surface with the experiments and other computational results; however, not well in pressure surface. It might be due to the complex flowfields such as shock/boundary layer interaction, turbulence, and flow separation, etc. In the future, a proper turbulence modelling and adaptive grid system will be studied to improve the solution quality.

  • This paper presents an experimental investigation examining water-cement ratio effects on fiber-matrix interface properties and on matrix fracture properties, which are used for designing mix proportion suitable for achieving strain-hardening behavior at a composite level. A single fiber pullout test and a wedge splitting test were employed to measure the bond properties in a matrix and the fracture toughness of mortar matrix, respectively. Test results showed that the properties tended to increase with decreasing water-cement ratio. Composite design using these test results will be discussed in the follow-up paper.
