  • Software development involves a series of stages, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration testing, similar to those used in the system engineering process. This study utilized MathWorks' model-based design platform to develop multi-function radar software and evaluated its feasibility and efficiency. Because the development of conventional radar software is performed by a unit algorithm rather than in an integrated form, it requires additional efforts to manage the integrated software, such as requirement analysis and integrated testing. The mode-based platform applied in this paper provides an integrated development environment for requirements analysis and allocation, algorithm development through simulation, automatic code generation for deployment, and integrated requirements testing, and result management. With the platform, we developed multi-level models of the multi-function radar software, verified them using test harnesses, managed requirements, and transformed them into hardware deployable language using the auto code generation tool. We expect this Model-based integrated development to reduce errors from miscommunication or other human factors and save on the development schedule and cost.

  • This paper describes the quality attributes of an integrated simulation software for weapon systems named Advanced distributed simulation environment(AddSIM). AddSIM is developed as a key enabler for Defense Modeling & Simulation(M&S) systems which simulate battlefields and used for battle experiments, analyses, military exercises, training, etc. AddSIM shall provide a standard simulation framework of the next Defense M&S systems. Therefore AddSIM shall satisfy not only functional but also quality requirements such as availability, modifiability, performance, testability, usability, and others. AddSIM consists of operating softwares of hierarchical components including graphical user interface, simulation engines, and support services(natural environment model, math utility, etc.), and separated weapon system models executable on the operating softwares. The relation between software architectures and their quality attributes are summarized from previous works. And the AddSIM architecture and its achievements in the aspect of quality attributes are reviewed.

  • With the widespread deployment of the fifth-generation (5G) communication networks, various real-time applications are rapidly increasing and generating massive traffic on backhaul network environments. In this scenario, network congestion will occur when the communication and computation resources exceed the maximum available capacity, which severely degrades the network performance. To alleviate this problem, this paper proposed an intelligent resource allocation (IRA) to integrate with the extant resource adjustment (ERA) approach mainly based on the convergence of support vector machine (SVM) algorithm, software-defined networking (SDN), and mobile edge computing (MEC) paradigms. The proposed scheme acquires predictable schedules to adapt the downlink (DL) transmission towards off-peak hour intervals as a predominant priority. Accordingly, the peak hour bandwidth resources for serving real-time uplink (UL) transmission enlarge its capacity for a variety of mission-critical applications. Furthermore, to advance and boost gateway computation resources, MEC servers are implemented and integrated with the proposed scheme in this study. In the conclusive simulation results, the performance evaluation analyzes and compares the proposed scheme with the conventional approach over a variety of QoS metrics including network delay, jitter, packet drop ratio, packet delivery ratio, and throughput.

  • Recently, many advanced countries have used original ICT tools in their educational courses. But Korea didn't have any effective origin ICT tools in our mathematical education, compared with other countries which have developed various tools, for examples, Web-Mathematica and HP Calculator. Although we have the advanced IT environment, the educational environments in mathematics using ICT seems to be not promising. In this paper, we suggest a new mathematics education tools in ICT and the internet environments in Korea, and a teaching and studyingmodel for the teachers, students and classrooms. It is based on the Sage-Math and RPG. Sage-Math which is the software based on the web and RPG(Random Problem Generator) will give a good answer for the future of Korean mathematics ICT education.

  • In this paper, we propose KoEPT, a Transformer-based generative model for automatic math word problems solving. A math word problem written in human language which describes everyday situations in a mathematical form. Math word problem solving requires an artificial intelligence model to understand the implied logic within the problem. Therefore, it is being studied variously across the world to improve the language understanding ability of artificial intelligence. In the case of the Korean language, studies so far have mainly attempted to solve problems by classifying them into templates, but there is a limitation in that these techniques are difficult to apply to datasets with high classification difficulty. To solve this problem, this paper used the KoEPT model which uses 'expression' tokens and pointer networks. To measure the performance of this model, the classification difficulty scores of IL, CC, and ALG514, which are existing Korean mathematical sentence problem datasets, were measured, and then the performance of KoEPT was evaluated using 5-fold cross-validation. For the Korean datasets used for evaluation, KoEPT obtained the state-of-the-art(SOTA) performance with 99.1% in CC, which is comparable to the existing SOTA performance, and 89.3% and 80.5% in IL and ALG514, respectively. In addition, as a result of evaluation, KoEPT showed a relatively improved performance for datasets with high classification difficulty. Through an ablation study, we uncovered that the use of the 'expression' tokens and pointer networks contributed to KoEPT's state of being less affected by classification difficulty while obtaining good performance.

  • With the advent of the information society, image restoration technology has aroused considerable interest. Guided image filtering is more effective in suppressing noise in homogeneous regions, but its edge-preserving property is poor. As such, the critical part of guided filtering lies in the selection of the guided image. The result of the Expected Patch Log Likelihood (EPLL) method maintains a good structure, but it is easy to produce the ladder effect in homogeneous areas. According to the complementarity of EPLL with guided filtering, we propose a method of coupling EPLL and guided filtering for image de-noising. The EPLL model is adopted to construct the guided image for the guided filtering, which can provide better structural information for the guided filtering. Meanwhile, with the secondary smoothing of guided image filtering in image homogenization areas, we can improve the noise suppression effect in those areas while reducing the ladder effect brought about by the EPLL. The experimental results show that it not only retains the excellent performance of EPLL, but also produces better visual effects and a higher peak signal-to-noise ratio by adopting the proposed method.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop an automated software to extract tooth and pulpal area from sectional cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images, which can guarantee more reproducible, objective and time-saving way to measure pulp/tooth volume ratio. Methods: The software program was developed using MATLAB (MathWorks). To determine the optimal threshold for the region of interest (ROI) extraction, user interface to adjust the threshold for extraction algorithm was added. Default threshold was determined after several trials to make the outline of extracted ROI fitting to the tooth and pulpal outlines. To test the effect of starting point location selected initially in the pulpal area on the final result, pulp/tooth volume ratio was calculated 5 times with different 5 starting points. Results: Navigation interface is composed of image loading, zoom-in, zoom-out, and move tool. ROI extraction process can be shown by check in the option box. Default threshold is adjusted for the extracted tooth area to cover whole tooth including dentin, cementum, and enamel. Of course, the result can be corrected, if necessary, by the examiner as well as by changing the threshold of density of hard tissue. Extracted tooth and pulp area are reconstructed three-dimensional (3D) and pulp/tooth volume ratio is calculated by voxel counting on reconstructed model. The difference between the pulp/tooth volume ratio results from the 5 different extraction starting points was not significant. Conclusions: In further studies based on a large-scale sample, the most proper threshold to present the most significant relationship between age and pulp/tooth volume ratio and the tooth correlated with age the most will be explored. If the software can be improved to use whole CBCT data set rather than just sectional images and to detect pulp canal in the original 3D images generated by CBCT software itself, it will be more promising in practical uses.
