  • In this paper, we propose a method for correcting the measurement axis twist that occurs in the process of wearing and each estimation method of joint in which the inertial measurement unit based in health arm by the method of operation upper limb rehabilitation equipment of hemiplegic patients. In order to verify the proposed method, it is fitted with a inertial measurement unit of the upper arm and forearm of the experimenter left arm, verified by comparing actual joint angle is detected by photographing the arbitrary posture, the angle that the estimated joint. Then, it was verified by comparing the applied front / rear techniques for correcting the measurement axis twist. A result of the experiment, before applying the measurement axis twist correction, joint, after but each match rate showed a weak concordance rate in 89.16% and were corrected, measurement axis twist, each concordance rate of joint agreement of 93.28% I understand that it has been 4.12% improvement in the rate.

  • The medical treatment is process of collecting symptoms, making a diagnosis and treatment for the diagnosis. The remedy and the efficacy are the important hinge that links the diagnosis to the means of medical treatment. Lots of medical data are stored on database or saved as files in these days. The preferential way to find the efficacy related to the remedy is search all efficacy terms match up to the remedy term. To increase the rate of matching remedy terms with efficacy terms, we study the relation between efficacy terms and remedy terms and research the conversion way of the terms into the representative terms. The rate of matching the raw remedy terms with the raw efficacy terms is below 30%. The rate of matching the disaggregate remedy terms with the disaggregate efficacy terms is about 50%. The rate of matching the representative remedy terms with the representative efficacy terms is almost 70%.

Effect of Air Flow Rate on the Performance of Planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cell using CFD (평판형 고체산화물 연료전지의 CFD 성능해석에서 공기유량변화의 영향)

  • Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) continue to be among the most promising alternative energy devices. This paper addresses i-V characteristics of SOFC with a focus on air flow rate along the planar anode electrodes. To address this, detailed Butler-Volmer kinetics are implemented in a general-purpose CFD code FLUENT. The numerical results were validated against experimental data from the literature showing excellent match with i-V polarization data ranging 1V-0.4V. Numerical calculations of fuel cell operation under different flow rare conditions were performed in three-dimensional geometries. Results are presented in terms of concentration distribution of hydrogen, oxygen, and water. The simulations and results indicate that advanced CFD with UDF(User-Defined Function) of Butler-Volmer kinetics can be used to identify the conditions leading to air flow rate and specific surface area and guide development of operating conditions and improve the fuel cell system performance.

  • We propose a system that automatically recognizes the tense or relaxed condition of scrolling-shooting game subject that plays. Existing study compares the changed values of source of stimulation to the player by suggesting the source, and thus involves limitation in automatic classification. This study applies SOM of unsupervised learning for automatic classification and recognition of player's condition change. Application of SOM for automatic recognition of tense and relaxed condition is composed of two steps. First, ECG measurement and analysis, is to extract characteristic vector through HRV analysis by measuring ECG after having the player play the game. Secondly, SOM learning and recognition, is to classify and recognize the tense and relaxed conditions of player through SOM learning of the input vectors of heart beat signals that the characteristic extracted. Experiment results are divided into three groups. The first is HRV frequency change and the second the SOM learning results of heart beat signal. The third is the analysis of match rate to identify SOM learning performance. As a result of matching the LF/HF ratio of HRV frequency analysis to the distance of winner neuron of SOM based on 1.5, a match rate of 72% performance in average was shown.

The Pattern and Characteristics of Demographic Transition in Developing Countries (개발도상국의 인구변천 유형과 특징)

  • Over the past four decades reproductive behavior has changed rapidly in much of the developing countries. The average total fertility rate has fallen by half from six or more to near three today. Between 1960 and 2000 the largest fertility decline occurred in Asia and Latin America. The mortality rate has also decreased in most developing countries. The purpose of this study is to review the pattern and characteristic of demographic transition in developing countries. At first, this study focuses on the regional fertility and mortality transition. Africa, the total fertility rate is still high, can be match to the second stage of demographic transition. Similar case is found in Southern West Asia areas. However, the fertility rate has therd stage of demographic transition. The same pattern is found in Latin America. The mortality rate has also decreased in most of developing countries. It is interesting to find that there is a clear difference among developing countries. In terms of crude death rate, Latin American countries show the lowest rate. while African countries remain still high rate. About mortality, African countries show a high level in terms of both crude death rate and infant mortality rate. African countries also show the lowest level of life expectancy in the world. One of the reasons for low level of life expectancy in Africa is the widespread of AIDS in this areas. This study suggests that we should include 'AIDS' in the study of mortality in African countries.

  • In these days, T-shirt is not only the simple wearing goods but also the suggestive communication, which is not showed outward as well as being intended. Also, it indicates expression of contemporary sensitive living, expression of substantial oneself, and the effective commercial promotion fer advertising fashion brand and promoting the object's sale. Following the above concept, the aim of this study is to understand the outstanding tendency of ' The T-shirt one-point graphic's functions and visual image ', which is appeared after 2001 in the fashion industry's commercial aspects. The visual image's applicative rate of the T-shirt one point graphic is the following; The best applicative rate on T-shirt one- point graphic is the visual image using the mix & match technique shown 42.8 percent applicative rate. The second one is the visual image using the typography shown 38.7 percent. The third one is the visual image using the animals and plants shown 8.5 percent. The fourth one is the visual image using the person's character shown 3.8 percent. The fifth one is the visual image using the geometry shown 2.4 percent. The least one is the visual image using the cartoon character shown 1.6 percent. On the other hand, another important function of t-shirt one-point graphic is the following; 1, The essential function as t-shirt design factor. 2, The promotional function as brand image marketing and brand advertisement. 3. The communicative function as discriminative strategy of object. 4. The achievable function as value added goods.

Reliability Estimation and Dynamic Deformation of Polymeric Material Using SHPB Technique and Probability Theory (SHPB 기법과 확률이론을 이용한 고분자재료의 동적거동특성 및 건전성 평가)

  • The conventional Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (C-SHPB) technique with aluminum pressure bars to achieve a closer impedance match between the pressure bars and the specimen materials such as hot temperature degraded POM (Poly Oxy Methylene) and PP (Poly Propylene) to obtain more distinguishable experimental signals is used to obtain a dynamic behavior of material deformation under a high strain rate loading condition. An experimental modification with Pulse shaper is introduced to reduce the nonequilibrium on the dynamic material response during a short test period to increase the rise time of the incident pulse for two polymeric materials. For the dynamic stress strain curve obtained from SHPB experiment under high strain rate, the Johnson-Cook model is applied as a constitutive equation, and we verify the applicability of this constitutive equation to the probabilistic reliability estimation method. The methodology to estimate the reliability using the probabilistic method such as the FORM and the SORM has been proposed, after compose the limit state function using Johnson-Cook model. It is found that the failure probability estimated by using the SORM is more reliable than those of the FORM, and the failure probability increases with the increase of applied stress. Moreover, it is noted that the parameters of Johnson-Cook model such as A and n, and applied stress affect the failure probability more than the other random variables according to the sensitivity analysis.

  • In this study, centrifugal fan blades used to circulate cold air inside a household refrigerator were optimized to achieve high performance and low noise by using the response surface method, which is frequently employed as an optimization algorithm when multiple independent variables affect one dependent variable. The inlet and outlet blade angles, and the inner radius, were selected as the independent variables. First, the fan blades were optimized to achieve the maximum volume flow rate. Based on this result, a prototype fan blade was manufactured using a 3-D printer. The measured P-Q curves confirmed the increased volume flow rate of the proposed fan. Then, the rotation speed of the new fan was decreased to match the P-Q curve of the existing fan. It was found that a noise reduction of 1.7 dBA could be achieved using the new fan at the same volume flow rate.

Hit Rate Prediction Algorithm for Laser Guided Bombs Using Image Processing (영상처리 기술을 활용한 레이저 유도폭탄 명중률 예측 알고리즘)

  • Since the Gulf War, air power has played a key role. However, the effect of high-tech weapons, such as laser-guided bombs and electronic optical equipment, drops significantly if they do not match the weather conditions. So, aircraft that are assigned to carry laser-guided bombs must replace these munitions during bad weather conditions. But, there are no objective criteria for when weapons should be replaced. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an algorithm to predict the hit rate of laser-guided bombs using cloud image processing. In order to verify the accuracy of the algorithm, we applied the weather conditions that may affect laser-guided bombs to simulated flight equipment and executed simulated weapon release, then collected and analyzed data. Cloud images appropriate to the weather conditions were developed, and applied to the algorithm. We confirmed that the algorithm can accurately predict the hit rate of laser-guided bombs in most weather conditions.

Directions in Development of Enforcement System for Moving Violation in Intersection (무인교통단속장비를 이용한 교차로 꼬리물기 단속 가능성 연구)

  • Even if the traffic light is green, if vehicles enter a jammed intersection, they are violation of the law. The police is enforcing law as a part of a nation wide campaign. Because, using the camcorder, the police can not do enforcement the offending vehicle, there are other techniques. Our research group proposed automated photographic equipment enable to enforce moving violation in intersection. Using new license plate recognition technology and backtracking technology to trace the offending vehicle, once the system detects a violator, it records 8 wide pictures and 1picture from the front vehicle, showing it enter and proceed through the intersection. Field experimental results obtained in the system, the following conclusions. The three measures of effectiveness investigated were recognition rate 83.5, mis-match recognition rate 1.5%.
