우주용 모듈화 형태의 경량 복합재료 전자장비 하우징 설계 (Lightweight Composite Electronics Housing Design of Modular Type for Space Applications)

  • 본 연구는, 위성에 장착되는 각종 전자장비 하우징을 종래의 알루미늄 합금에서 복합재료로 대체함으로써 위성 경량화를 극대화할 수 있는 대안을 다루었다. 이를 위해, 기존 전자장비 하우징 재료로 널리 사용되는 알루미늄 합금에 비해 가벼우면서, 충분한 내구성과 다양한 기능성을 제공하는 복합재료 전자장비 하우징 설계를 위한 요구사항을 정의하였다. 또한, 열전도도, 전기전도도, EMI 보호, 방사차폐 특성과 더불어 강도가 우수한 구조적 특성을 갖춘 경량 복합재료 전자장비 하우징을 모듈화 방식으로 제작하기 위한 개념설계를 수행하고, 위성설계에 있어 무게절감을 크게 향상할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다.

  • 기존 위성 전자장비 하우징에 널리 사용되는 알루미늄 합금 소재를 경량 복합재료로 대체함으로써 위성 경량화를 크게 개선하고자, 경량 복합재료로 구성된 전자장비 하우징을 제작하고 성능 검증에 대하여 다루었다. 이를 위해 복합재료의 낮은 가공성을 극복하기 위하여 후처리를 최소화할 수 있는 복합재료 하우징 제작공정을 설계하고, 격자 구조로 강화된 일체형 하우징 본체를 동시경화 방법에 의해 제작하였다. 또한 제작된 전자장비 하우징의 내구성, 강성, 열전도도, 전기전도도, EMI차폐 및 방사차폐에 대한 성능 평가 결과를 분석하였다. 아울러 본 연구에서 제작한 복합재료 하우징은, 동일한 형상의 알루미늄 하우징 대비 상당한 질량절감을 가능하게 함을 제시하였다.

  • Virtual manufacturing is a technology facilitating effective development and agile manufacturing of products via sophisticated computer models representing physical and logical schema and behavior of real manufacturing systems including manufacturing resources, environments, and products. Based on these models, virtual manufacturing supports decision making and error checking in the entire manufacturing processes from design to mass production. At first, we analyzed manufacturing preparation activities of the four major production shops such as press, body assembly, painting and final assembly, of a Korean automotive company. We then developed the workflow models out of the analysis by the IDEF methodology, and generated a strategic plan for the systematic application of the virtual manufacturing technologies. We identified many manufacturing preparation activities that can be improved by the application of virtual manufacturing technologies. Finally, we estimated the effect of improvement including time savings in car development processes and corresponding cost savings.

  • The article examines one of the most important means of visualization of mass information on the Internet - information graphics in the broadest sense of the term as a visual technology for presenting mass information. The main objectives of the article are to determine the genre-typological features of infographics and basic technological principles; identification of features of creation and use of information graphics in modern network. Certain benefits of online infographic editors include savings in resources and time. They allow the user, who has basic PC skills, to create standardized infographics based on their own data. In addition, the use of online services develops visual thinking, allows you to get an idea of quality criteria and current trends in infographics, as well as to gain initial experience in the visual presentation of data.

고분자 첨가제에 의한 OTEC용 판형 열교환기의 마찰저항감소 효과 연구 (Effect of Polymer Additives on Drag Reduction for a Plate Type Heat Exchanger in OTEC Applications)

  • Experimental investigation has been carried out to determine drag reducing effects of polymer additives for a plate type heat exchanger(evaporator or condenser) in OTEC power plant applications, where the pressure drop in the heat exchangers takes up $70{\sim}80%$ of the total pumping power in the existing system. The rate of drag reduction was investigated with various polymer concentrations and mass flow rates. Experiments were undertaken for a test section in Alfa-Laval plate heat exchanger utilizing Poly Ethylene Oxide(Mw $5{\times}10^6$) as polymer additives. Concentrations of polymer additives were 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 100, 200, 400 wppm at $25^{\circ}C$ and mass flow rates were 0.6kg/s, 0.7kg/s, 0.8kg/s and 0.9kg/s in normal operating ranges for a 15kW Alfa-Laval plate heat exchanger. The maximum effects of drag reductions were found at approximately 0.7kg/s of mass flow rate. The results show that there exists the optimum mass flow rate for the plate heat exchanger to obtain maximum drag reductions. Drag reduction of 20% means considerable savings in pumping power for a large size of OTEC plant.

  • Research on walking assistance exoskeletons that provide optimized torque to individuals has been conducted steadily, and these studies aim to help users feel stable when walking and get help that suits their intentions. Because exoskeleton auxiliary efficiency evaluation is based on metabolic cost savings, experiments on real people are needed to evaluate continuously evolving control algorithms. However, experiments with real people always require risks and high costs. Therefore, in this study, we intend to actively utilize human musculoskeletal simulation. First, to improve the accuracy of musculoskeletal models, we propose a body segment mass distribution algorithm using body composition analysis data that reflects body characteristics. Secondly, the efficiency of most exoskeleton torque control algorithms is evaluated as the reduction rate of Metabolic Cost. In this study, we assume that the torque minimizing the Metabolic Cost is the optimal torque and propose a method for obtaining the torque.

  • Light emitting diodes (LEDs) which can produce uniform luminescence need a very difficult and complex procedure because LEDs have strong and straight optical property. One of the major parameters for LED production is the determination of the viewing angle. However, in the present, there is still no available production technology to measure LED viewing angle and optical property. In this study, we developed a five-side LED viewing angle and optical property measurement system, having a source meter that uses a high speed switching photo relay instead of a mercury relay. This new measurement system can measure the viewing angle at a very high accuracy of ${\pm}0.66^{\circ}$. This new technology presents a great potential for fast and reliable LED mass production, which can significantly cut down the cost from savings in production time.

  • With the emergence of the 3D CAD, it is possible to create a physical part directly from a digital model by accumulating layers of a given material. The technology is being widely used for checking designs, to create master models for rapid tooling, and for reverse engineering. However, in general, a model created by rapid prototyping technology is made of soft material that cannot be used as mass prouduction hard tool. Newly developed powder casting is suitable for rapid-manufacturing metallic tools. Powder casting can serve as a promising rapid tooling method because of high density characteristics and low dimensional shrinkage below 0.1% during sintering and infiltration. Through this process, we have realized significant time and cost savings eliminating the expense of conventional prototype tooling process.

  • In the modern industrial period, the introduction of mass production was most important progress in civilization. Die-casting process is one of main methods for mass production in the modern industry. The aluminum die-casting in the mold filling process is very complicated where flow momentum is the high velocity of the liquid metal. Actually, it is almost impossible in complex parts exactly to figure the mold filling performance out with the experimental knowledge. The aluminum die-castings are important processes in the automotive industry to produce the lightweight automobile bodies. Due to this condition, the simulation is going to be more critical role in the design procedure. Simulation can give the best solution of a casting system and also enhance the casting quality. The cost and time savings of the casting layout design are the most advantage of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). Generally, the relations of casting conditions such as injection system, gate system, and cooling system should be considered when designing the casting layout. Due to the various relative matters of the above conditions, product defects such as defect extent and location are significantly difference. In this research by using the simulation software (AnyCasting), CAE simulation was conducted with three layout designs to find out the best alternative for the casting layout design of an automotive Oil Pan_BJ3E. In order to apply the simulation results into the production die-casting mold, they were analyzed and compared carefully. Internal porosities which are caused by air entrapments during the filling process were predicted and also the results of three models were compared with the modifications of the gate system and overflows. Internal porosities which are occurred during the solidification process are predicted with the solidification analysis. And also the results of the modified gate system are compared.

철도 화물취급역 입환생략모델(E&S) 도입 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effective and Speedy container handing system(E&S) Effectiveness in railroad)

  • The railroad freight transport has great merits that can transport mass and specific items(dangerous goods), but it takes a long time because of low accessibility to the logistics facility and the complex process of loading freight in middle station. This paper analyzed volumes and characters of each railroad freight item, and was carried out the effect of applying E&S system to Gyeongbu line containers to find the method of reducing transport time and effective container transportation. As a result of Cost-Effectiveness analysis, the block train(B/T) is reducing transport time more about 1~2 hours. The road congestion cost is saving about 2.2 billion won. And due to skipping work of organizing train, personnel and equipment expenses savings expected about 9 billion won. It is expected that the E&S system enhances the container transport service and has an effect positive influence on making a efficient method of transport. But It is necessary to estimate pre-feasibility of applying E&S system that the standard of estimating cost and benefit is required further examination.
