An objective of this study is to give practical information that could be used for calculating pollutant emission factors and fuel economy from Korean Inspection & Maintenance program, which has been using steady state acceleration simulation mode. Concentration results from I/M test is adequately converted to mass emission factors and fuel efficiency data, which have unit of g/km and km/L, respectively. Exhaust volume flow(EVF), which is for converting emission result from concentration to mass, is measured by tracer method in various vehicle speed - power condition. It is found that there is an apparent second order relationship between EVF and vehicle inertia weight. EVF is expressed in function of vehicle inertia weight in order to estimate EVF in I/M site without measuring device. Converted mass emission results from measured EVF and raw emission analyzer show a satisfactory agreement with those from conventional CVS-bag type measurement system. Mass emission factors and fuel efficiency from measured EVF and estimated EVF also show good agreement to each other. Considering that an I/M program has great advantages to recruit-based emission test in terms of the number of test vehicle, the information in this study can be used for developing an alternative procedure to collect more various data to establish national database of mobile emission factors and fuel economy, even though the driving cycle in I/M program is steady state cycle rather than transient cycle.

A number of highway projects are in progress in Korea to accommodate increasing transportation demands. As the highway route becomes more complex, some projects include tunneling through unconsolidated sedimentary rock. Since an unconsolidated sedimentary rock mainly consists of rock and ground mass, the behavior and characteristics in unconsolidated sedimentary rock tunnel are quite different from typical rock tunnel. However, construction case histories and rock classifications method on unconsolidated sedimentary rock tunnel had not been developed or studied domestically. Consequently the case studies and rock classification system for unconsolidated sedimentary rock are required to better understand its behavior for tunneling. In this study, rock mass classification method is proposed to identify unconsolidated sedimentary rock based on point load and slake durability tests. Based on this, the proposed method of unconsolidated sedimentary rock can be applied well through comparisons with the results of convergence measurement.

In order to determine the enthalpy profile in the high temperature transpiration cooling test facility for the air-breating engine compartments, theoretical calculation and measurement for the flow of the test section are performed. The mass averaged enthalpy value determined by the heat balance and sonic throat methods is 10 MJ/kg. The centerline enthalpy value measured using the slug type copper calorimeter is 15 MJ/kg. Typically, the ratio of centerline and mass averaged enthalpy should be varies from 1.4 to 4. This facility has lower bound of enthalpy profile. It will be effective in testing of high temperature transpiration cooling.

Recently, the trend of research in hard coating is concentrate on developing the process of ionization rate under low operating pressure, to get the thin film with high adhesion and dense microstructures. In this study ionization rate enhancement type PVD process using permanent magnet is developed, which enhances the ionization rate by confining the plasma suppressing the wall loss of electron. By the result to investigate the characteristic of glow discharge, the ionization rate of this process is enhanced about twice as high as that of triod BARE process (about 26%), and more dense TiN microstructures are obtained in this process. Cylindrical ion energy analyzer is made and attached in front of a quadrupole mass filter for the analysis of the energy distribution of reactive gas and activated gas ions from the plasma zone. To analyze the operation mechanism of ion energy analyzer, computer simulation is performed by calculation the electric field environment using finite element method. By these analyses of ion energy distribution of outcoming ions from the plasma zone, it is found that magnetic field enhances ion kinetic energy as well as ionization rate. The other results of this study is that the foundation of feed-back system is constructed, which automatically control the partial pressure of reactive gas. In can be possible by recording the data of mass spectrum and ion energy analysis using A-D converter.
Measurement of concentration and size distribution of TSP, ammonium, nitrate and sulfate were made from Mar., 1991. to June., 1992 in Seoul. The seasonal variation of concentration and size distribution of aerosols has been investiated. Aerosol were collected and size frationated by Andersen air sampler. Size classified samples were extrated with deionized water and analyzed for ammonium, nitrate and sulfate by ion chromatography. As the results of measurement, the average of concentration and MMAD(mass median aerodynamic diameter) were $118.58 \mu g/m^3$, and $2.77 \mu m$ for TSP, $1.92 \mu g/m^3$ and $1.35 \mu m$ for ammonium, $1.34 \mu g/m^3$ and $1.58 \mu m$ for nitrate, $8.52 \mu g/m^3$ and $2.15 \mu m$ for sulfate. The Seasonal variation of concentration and size distribution was observed for ammonium, nitrate and sulfate. The concentration peak of TSP was observed in coarse particles in spring and observed in fine particles in winter. The concentration's distribution of TSP, ammonium, nitrate and sulfate was observed bimodal type during all season.

The combustion chamber and nozzle of an end burning, small spherical rocket is designed. A spherical external shape has a number of advantages such as fixed center-of-gravity and minimum aerodynamic precession torques during flight and a better mass distribution for gyro-stabilization as contrasted to a conventional ogive rocket shape. It is shown that the cross-sectional variation of the end burning solid propellant with length is an exponential geometry to provide a constant thrust-weight ratio of the rocket device during the propellant burning period, and that the factors which affect the attainment of the constant relationship of thrust to weight in the design are the initial propellant area, initial weight of the rocket and propellant density. The measurement of the transient thrust in the ground static test using black powder propellant supports the predicted results. A wind tunnel having a $30{\times}30{\times}75cm$ test section and Mach number 0.11 is constructed, and a simple balance-type device is designed for the measurement of the drag of a spinning sphere. The experimental results indicate that the. spinning has no effect on the magnitude of the drag up to the Reynolds number $3{\times}10^5$. Numerical computation of the flight trajectories for various launching angles is presented, and the gyro-stabilization of spinning sphere is discussed.

The temperature control of in-place concrete is the most important factor for an early age of curing concrete. Heat stress of mass concrete caused by the heat of hydration can induce the crack of concrete, and a frost damage from cold weather casting concrete results defect on compressive strength and degradation of durability. Therefore, success and failure of concrete work is dependant on the measurement and control of concrete temperature. In addition, the compressive strength assessment of in-place concrete obtained from the maturity calculated from the history of temperature make a reduction of construction cycle time, possible. For that purpose, wireless temperature measuring system was developed to control temperature and assess strength of concrete. And, it was possible to monitor the temperature of concrete over 1km apart from site office and to take a proper measure; mesh-type network was developed for wireless sensor. Furthermore, curing control system that contains the program capable to calculate the maturity of concrete from the history of temperature and to assess the compressive strength of concrete was established. In this study, organization and practical method of developed curing control system are presented; base on in-place application case.
Experiments related to Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) accomplished at the Institute of Nuclear Techniques (INT), Budapest University of Technology and Economics (TUB) are presented. Relevant investigations are required before designing BNCT for vivo applications. Samples of relevant boron compounds (H3BO3, BDTPA) usually employed in BNCT were investigated with neutron beam. Channel #5 in the research reactor (100 kW) of INT-TUB provides the neutron beam. Boron samples are mounted on a carrier for neutron irradiation. The particle attenuation of several carrier materials was investigated, and the one with the lowest attenuation was selected. The effects of boron compound type, mass, and compound phase state were also investigated. To detect the emitted charged particles, a traditional ZnS(Ag) detector was employed. The neutron beam's interaction with the detector-detecting layer is investigated. Graphite (as a moderator) was employed to change the neutron beam's characteristics. The fast neutron beam was also thermalized by placing a portable fast neutron source in a paraffin container and irradiating the H3BO3. The obtained results suggest that the direct measurement approach appears to be insufficiently sensitive for determining the radiation dose committed by the Alpha particles from the 10B (n,α) reaction. As a result, a new approach must be used.
This research aims to classify the physical characteristics of middle aged women. The characteristics are esteemed to be adopted for the formalisation of the types of their body figures and their characteristics for each type. For this purpose, middle aged women in the significant change of their body shapes were sampled for body measurement which would be used for the comparison between each measured figure. A group of sample for this research was constructed with 154 middle aged women who is currently living in Seoul and its Metropolitan area and being in their age of $35{\sim}59$. Particularly, the analysis on the girth of belly shows a significant difference subject to each age group so that a distinguished change in the girth of belly is observed as the age gets older. With the SPSS programme, the physical characteristics of middle aged women were analysed by the variation analysis and correlation analysis. In terms of the analysis on the body mass index and the flatness index, the observed result that there is a significant difference between the indices for late middle aged women and early and mid middle aged women shows far more different result from Yu-Kyung Choi(1997) that the body figures of middle aged women tend to start rapidly to change from their ages of 49. This can be explained to some extent in that the increased interest in much healthier and slimmer body shapes beginning from widely-spread so called "well-being" syndrome results in the increase in the number of middle aged women taking care of their health management so that the ages starting their body shape to become obese tend to be deferred. Another explanation is also feasible to partly extent that the middle aged women living in Seoul and Kyung-Gi area are much more looking after their health management than those living in other areas. However, this research has a limitation in that the physical measurement for this research has been conducted focusing on the women living in Seoul and Kyung-Gi area. Hence, it is further expected going forward that the physical measurement for middle aged women living in other areas should follow for the comparison purpose.
This study aimed to categorize women's body shapes by type after extracting prototypes of 25~34 year old Korean woman. The standardizing research service project conducted by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in 2005, divided the age ranges of adult women into three groups: 18~24 years (young), 25~34 years (young-adult) and 35~49 years (adult). This study utilized this age division method to create a concrete body type categorization schema with the most marriageable period, 25 to 34 years old as target age the target age group. We used, measurement data from the 7th Korean Human Body Size Survey (Size Korea) for the body shape analysis. We completed a statistical analysis using the statistical program SPSS 21. After creating the body types using CLO 3D, which is based on the 7th Korean human body measurements, we input data for the average size for each type into the Avata. We then compared and analyzed the cross sections using the Rapidform XOR program. The results of the type-specific characteristics are as follows: big square body of obese body, small square body of plain flat body with tall, plain square body of plain flat with short, triangular body of lower body obesity there was. Significantly, the results of this study should facilitate the development of various apparel products using mass customization or easy-order systems.
