The goal of this work is to present an advanced method of an estimation of the Modeling Uncertainties coming up in industrial rigid robot's manipulator and actuators. First, with the given physical robot model, the motion equation was derived. Considering a fictitious model, a new extended motion equation is developed. Based on this extended model, an observer and observer bank are designed for the estimation of modeling uncertainties which are involving the effects of gravity, friction, mass unbalance, and Coriolis which show the nonlinear characteristics in operation states.

The radiated sound pressure induced by low-velocity impact is obtained by solving the Rayleigh integral equation. This paper established the sound analysis procedure using impact analysis model. For structurally radiated noise, the sound field is directly coupled to the structural motion. Therefore the impact response should be analyzed. The impact response is computed using the spring-mass model. And the influence of damage on the sound pressure and impacted force history of laminated were investigated. The results show that both radiated sound pressure and impact force history are strongly influenced by damage on laminated.
The characteristics of heat conduction for the heat source boundary like an arch shape cavern are different from those for the semi-infinite or circular boundary which can be driven theoretically. A new form of transient heat conduction equation in rock mass around the arch shape cavern is evaluated with analyzing the pattern of the rock temperature distribution measured at the cold storage pilot plant. The new equation, which is driven by adopting a shape function, $SF=\sqrt{logx_0/log(x_0+x)}$ to the solution for a semi-infinite boundary, has the semi-radial form of temperature variation with distance. And, thermal properties of rock mass are estimated by comparing the rock temperature distributions by this equation with those by measurement. Thermal conductivity and specific heat of rock mass are estimated as giving the difference of 20~25% compared to those of laboratory scale. This difference seems to be caused by discontinuity like joint and water content in rock mass.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to develop a sodium index, which is a tool for estimating and assessing sodium intake easily and quickly, to assist in the prevention of various diseases induced by excess sodium intake in Korean adults. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The 24-h urine collection and dietary behavior surveys were performed on 640 healthy people in 4 regions of South Korea, and an equation for the estimation of 24-h sodium intake was developed. The validity and reliability of the equation were verified with 200 adults. The sodium index was developed by converting the estimated sodium intake using the equation. Finally, the sodium intake status of 1,600 adults was assessed using the sodium index. RESULTS: The equation included sex, age, body mass index, eating habit and dietary behaviors related to sodium intake. In validity test of the equation, the mean bias between sodium intake using 24-h urine analysis and using the equation from the Bland-Altman plots was -1.5 mg/day. The sensitivity and specificity of the equation for estimation of sodium intake were 80.5% and 64.4%, respectively. In the reliability test of the equation, there was no significant difference between the first and second sodium intakes calculated using the equations, and Spearman's correlation coefficient between the 2 sodium intakes was 0.98. Sodium intake can be assessed as 'very moderate' for 75-100 on the sodium index, 'moderate' for 100-150, 'careful' for less than 75 or 150-200, and 'severe' for 250 or more. When sodium intake was assessed using the sodium index in 1,600 subjects, 54.3% and 24.3% of the subjects were assessed to be in the 'careful' and 'severe' categories, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Using a simple questionnaire, the sodium index can be used to monitor and assess sodium intake status, assisting in nutrition education and counseling in a large population.
It is important to measure the excavator's work productivity that estimates the bucket's payloads on a process. If the bucket isn't filled at every working cycle, the excavator's operator has to drive the machine more to achieve his work quota. If bucket is filled over with the load, the other way around, the transferred object has to spread out on the workplace. That causes additional work to clean the site. This paper proposes a method that can estimate the bucket's payload to improve the excavator's work productivity. This method assumes that the excavator is a lumped mass system. And it uses a 3 points angle (boom link, arm link, swing) and 2 points pressure (boom cylinder's input port and output port) of measurable data. Depending on assumptions, the bucket's payload can be calculated by the payload's motion equation. And this suggested method can be verified by simple experiments.

This study was conducted to develop new drying process for automatic control and marine engi-neering system. Air-water tests were carried out to investigate dryer performance. The dispersed flow in he dryer test apparatuses was also simulated by using a numerical code which solves the Dittus-Boelter equation for continuous liquid phase and the Reynolds equation of droplet motion for continuous liquid phase and the Reynolds equation of droplet motion for dispersed phase to predict droplet removal efficiency. Proper conditions for dehumidification were optimized by response ambient conditions. When the selected indexes were constrained in the range of 85-98% moisture content above $15^{\circ}$ and more than mass flow rates of moist air 750kg/h. The numerical results were compared with the experimental data pertaining to the removal effi-ciency at chamber stage and overall pressure drop along concentric tubes Good agreement was obtained as for the efficiency while relatively poor agreement was obtained for the relative humidity. The results also showed that the efficiency depended strongly on the relative humidity at the inlet condition which indicated the importance of estimating the heat exchanger length. Effects of some design parameters in both removal efficiency and breakthrough onset condition are discussed.

This paper described the estimation methods of CO2 emission of vehicles. The important of energy and environment has emerged in the world, and the field of vehicle's development as well. CO2 was particularly the object of emission-regulation that caused of global warming. There are performance comparison methods by driving mileage, International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and chemical equation for the combustion of Octane. We took the measurement by getting data through OBD-II port from vehicle covered 5 km on road. We got the diagnosis information, specific mileage and fuel consumption in this experiment. We are able to expect similar CO2 emission by the methods in the normal speed driving. Also, we can make more realistic approach of CO2 emission by the method of estimation by IPCC and chemical equation for the combustion of Octane in rapid acceleration driving.
Parameter estimations were made for the reversed-phase adsorption of perillyl alcohol (POH), a potent anti-cancer agent, on octadecylsilyl-silica gel (ODS). The average particle diameter of ODS was about $15\;{\mu}m$, and the particles were packed in the column $(3.9\;\times\;300mm)$. The mobile phase used was a mixture of acetonitrile and water, in which the acetonitrile ranged between 50 and $70\;(v/v\;\%)$. The first absolute moment and the second central moment were determined from the chromatographic elution curves by moment analysis. Experiments were carried out using POH solutions within the linear adsorption range. The fluid-to-particle mass transfer coefficient was estimated using the Wilson-Geankoplis equation. The axial dispersion coefficient and the intra particle diffusivity were determined from the slope and intercept of a plot of H vs $1/u_0$, respectively. The contributions of each mass-transfer step were axial dispersion, fluid-to-particle mass transfer, and intraparticle diffusion.

[Purpose] This preliminary study aimed to develop a regression model to estimate the resting metabolic rate (RMR) of young and middle-aged Koreans using various easy-to-measure dependent variables. [Methods] The RMR and the dependent variables for its estimation (e.g. age, height, body mass index, fat-free mass; FFM, fat mass, % body fat, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, pulse pressure, and resting heart rate) were measured in 53 young (male n = 18, female n = 16) and middle-aged (male n = 5, female n = 14) healthy adults. Statistical analysis was performed to develop an RMR estimation regression model using the stepwise regression method. [Results] We confirmed that FFM and age were important variables in both the regression models based on the regression coefficients. Mean explanatory power of RMR1 regression models estimated only by FFM was 66.7% (R2) and 66.0% (adjusted R2), while mean standard errors of estimates (SEE) was 219.85 kcal/day. Additionally, mean explanatory power of RMR2 regression models developed by FFM and age were 70.0% (R2) and 68.8% (adjusted R2), while the mean SEE was 210.64 kcal/day. There was no significant difference between the measured RMR by the canopy method using a metabolic gas analyzer and the predicted RMR by RMR1 and RMR2 equations. [Conclusion] This preliminary study developed a regression model to estimate the RMR of young and middle-age healthy Koreans. The regression model was as follows: RMR1 = 24.383 × FFM + 634.310, RMR2 = 23.691 × FFM - 5.745 × age + 852.341.
The purpose of this study was to design a single frequency BIA(Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer) which can measure body impedance when patient is sitting on the toilet and to develope a prediction equation for designed BIA. For the purpose of this study, we acquired body impedances with designed BIA from 181 subjects composed of healthy Korean by attaching electrodes to suitable positions(wrist and thigh) for toilet measurement. We computed an appropriate FFM(Fat Free Mass) for Korean using modified-Siri equation to the same subjects instead of Siri equation which nay cause accuracy problems in hydrodensitometry when it applied to Korean. We used this FFM as reference value and developed a Korean FFM prediction equation based on body impedance index, body weight and sex. Correlation coefficient between prediction value and reference value of FFM was extremely high (r = 0.977) and SEE(Standard Error of Estimation) was low 2.47kg.(p<0.05) For comparison between existing electrode-attaching method and our method for toilet measurement, we acquired body impedance with designed BIA from same subjects attaching electrodes on existing positions (wrist and ankle) and made FFM prediction equation for BIA. Correlation coeffient between predicted value and reference value was 0.978 and SEE was 2.43kg(p<0.05). It means that the developed system has not significant differences with existing method. In conclusion bioelectrical impedance analyzer and the FFM prediction equation developed in this paper are evaluated to he adequate to compute FFM of Korean.
