  • In this paper, the effect of the ultrasonic energy on the diesel engine's smoke reduction has been investigated for indirect injection diesel engine. The smoke concentration of the ultrasonically reformed diesel fuel was reduced remarkably in comparison with conventional diesel fuel. And in-cylinder pressure, heat release rate and mass fraction burned was improved but combustion duration was decreased. However, The combustion durations and the smoke concentrations of both diesel fuels were proportional to the increases of engine loads. Also, When the combustion duration has been increasing, the smoke emission has been augmenting in the shape of the exponential functions.

  • In the engine design, it will be able to higher compression ratio and decreasing the cylinder size, if improve the vaporization of fuel and increasing the mass burned fraction in the kerosene engine. Therefore, concave, convex and straight types of hear ring set up neighborhood intake valve into the combustion chamber. The vaporization effect of fuel satisfied by heat transfer from the heat ring, but have need of selection of the location and surface area of the heat ring. Also, combustion duration of the combustion chamber with concave heat ring shorter than combustion chamber with other two types of heat ring, and about 30percent decreases in combustion duration as compared with combustion chamber without heat ring.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the reduction of exhaust gas temperature in a LPG engine that had been converted from a diesel engine. A conventional diesel engine was modified to a LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) engine by replacing the diesel fuel injection pump with a LPG fuel system. The research was performed by measuring the exhaust gas temperature upon varying spark ignition timing, airfuel ratio, compression ratio, and different compositions of butane and propane. Engine power and exhaust temperature were not influenced by various butane/propane fuel compositions. Finally, among the parameters studied in this investigation, spark ignition timing is one of the most important in reducing exhaust gas temperature.

  • It is necessary to understand the combustion process and cycle-by-cycle variation in combustion to improve the engine stability and consequently to improve the fuel economy and exhaust emissions. The pressure related parameters instead of mass fraction burned were compared for the effect of initial combustion pressures on the following combustion and the analysis of cycle-by-cycle variation in combustion for two pen injected SI engines. The correlation between IMEP and pressures at referenced crank angles showed almost the same trends for equivalence ratios, but the different mixture preparations indicated different tendency. The dependency of IMEP on pressure at the referenced crank angles increases as the mixture becomes leaner for both engines. The mixture distribution in the combustion chamber was varied with the coolant temperature and intake valve deactivation due to the evaporation of fuel and air motion. The correlation between pressure related parameters were also compared for the coolant temperatures and air motion.

  • A computer simulation has been developed to predict and investigate the performance of the assumed hydrogen engine. The simulation has be come a powerful tool as it saves time and also economical when compared to experimental study. The effects of various parameters, such as equivalent ratio, spark advance, revolutions per minute were calculated and then the optimal parameters of assumed engine were determined. The effects of spark advance, revolutions per minute, cylinder pressure, rate of pressure rise, flame temperature, rate of heat release, and mass fraction burned were simulated. The objective of the research paper is to develop a internal combustion model with hydrogen as a fuel.

  • In recent years, the study about the high efficiency and low fuel consumption of the internal conbustion engine has been mainly proceeding. To achieve these goals, the improvement of combustion process in Sl engine and the use of substitute energy are suggested. When the methanol blend fuel Is used, the combustion rate of the initial ignition is diminishing by high latent evaporation of methanol. But it attracts the attention because of the high octane number, and lean mixture peculiarity. Considering these facts, the gasoline-methanol blend fuel In engine operation has been used to compare and analyze the pressure development, rate of heat release, mass burned fraction, and combustion process. The results of experiment show the power increase, lean combustion and low harmful component of emission.

  • Recently it is strongly required on lower fuel consumption. lower exhaust emission, higher engine performance. and social demands in a spark ignition gasoline engine. In this study. the experimental engine used at test. it has been modified the lean burn gasoline engine. and used the programmable engine management system, and connected the controller circuit which is designed for the engine control. At the parametric study of the engine experiment, it has been controlled with fuel injection, ignition timing. swirl mode, equivalence ratio engine dynamometer load and speed as the important factors governing the engine performance adaptively. It has been found the combustion characteristics to overcome the hysteresis phenomena between normal and lean air-fuel mixing ranges. by mean of the look-up table set up the mapping values. at the optimum conditions during the engine operation. As the result, it is found that the strength of the swirl flow with the variation of engine speed and load is effective on combustion characteristics to reduce the bandwidth of the hysteresis regions. The results show that mass fraction burned and heat release rate pattern with crank angle are reduced much rather, and brake specific fuel consumption is also reduced simultaneously.
