  • Methanol masers are divided into two classes, I and II. Class II methanol masers trace the disk-outflow systems of massive young stellar objects (YSOs), while class I methanol masers appear to trace the interaction regions of outflows with the ambient molecular gas. Class II masers have been extensively studied by single dishes, connected arrays, and VLBIs. Meanwhile, class I masers have been much less studied. They have not been detected by any VLBI facility. Thus they have been believed to have more extended structures than class II masers. We made fringe surveys of 44GHz class I methanol maser emission towards more than 150 massive YSOs with flux densities >10 Jy using the Korean VLBI Network (KVN), and detected fringes in ~10% of the sources. We performed follow-up imaging observations of the detected maser sources with KVN and KVN+VERA (KaVA). The observations aim to investigate the distribution and kinematics of 44GHz methanol maser features in each source at milli-arcsecond resolutions, and to understand what they trace. In this talk we will present the fringe survey and imaging results and our plans for further studies. Additionally, we will also introduce the preliminary results of single-dish polarization observations of water and class I methanol masers.

  • Simultaneous time monitoring observations of $H_2O$ $6_{16}-5_{23}$, SiO J = 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, and $^{29}SiO$ ${\upsilon}=0$, J = 1-0 lines are carried out in the direction of the Mira variable star TX Cam with the Korean VLBI Network single dish radio telescopes. For the first time, the $H_2O$ maser emission from TX Cam is detected near the stellar velocity at five epochs from April 10, 2013 (${\phi}=3.13$) to June 4, 2014 (${\phi}=3.89$) including minimum optical phases. The intensities of $H_2O$ masers are very weak compared to SiO masers. The variation of peak antenna temperature ratios among SiO ${\upsilon}=1$, J = 1-0, J = 2-1, and J = 3-2 masers is investigated according to their phases. The shift of peak velocities of $H_2O$ and SiO masers with respect to the stellar velocity is also investigated according to observed optical phases. The $H_2O$ maser emission occurs around the stellar velocity during our monitoring interval. On the other hand, the peak velocities of SiO masers show a spread compared to the stellar velocity. The peak velocities of SiO J = 2-1, and J = 3-2 masers show a smaller spread with respect to the stellar velocity than those of SiO J = 1-0 masers. These simultaneous observations of multi-frequencies will provide a good constraint for maser pumping models and a good probe for investigating the stellar atmosphere and envelope according to their different excitation conditions.

  • We have carried out simultaneous 22GHz $H_2O$ and 44GHz Class I $CH_3OH$ maser survey of 112 ultra-compact HII regions (UCHIIs) twice in 2010 and 2011. We detected $H_2O$ maser and $CH_3OH$ maser emission from 76(68%) and 49(44%) UCHIIs, respectively. Among them 15 $H_2O$ masers and 32 $CH_3OH$ masers are new detections. These high detection rates suggest that the occurrence periods of both masers are significantly overlapped with the UCHII phase. $CH_3OH$ masers always have small (<10 km s-1) relative velocities with respect to the natal molecular cores, while $H_2O$ masers often show larger velocities. We find 20 UCHIIs with $H_2O$ maser lines at relative velocities >30 km s-1. The formation and disappearance of $H_2O$ masers is frequent over one-year time interval. In contrast, $CH_3OH$ masers usually do not show substantial variation in intensity, velocity, or shape. The isotropic luminosities of both masers well correlate with the bolometric luminosities of the central stars when data points of lowand intermediate-mass protostars are added: $L_{H_2O}=5.89{\times}10^{-9}{(L_{bol})^{0.69}}$ and $L_{CH_3OH}=4.27{\times}10^{-9}{(L_{bol})^{0.62}}$. They also tend to increase with the 2cm radio continuum luminosity of UCHIIs and the 850 um continuum luminosity of the associated molecular cores. We discuss some individual sources.

  • We report relative proper motion measurements of $H_{2}O$ masers in massive star-forming region W51 Main, based on data sets of VLBI observations for $H_{2}O$ masers at 22 GHz with Japanese VERA telescopes from 2003 to 2006. Data reductions and single-beam imaging analysis are to measure internal kinematics of maser spots and eventually to estimate the three-dimensional kinematics of $H_{2}O$ masers in W51 Main. Average space motions and proper motion measurements of $H_{2}O$ masers are given both graphical and in table formats. We find in this study that W51 Main appears to be associated with hyper-compact H II region with multiple massive proto-stars whose spectral types are of late O.

  • We made simultaneous surveys of 22 GHz water and 44 / 95 GHz methanol masers toward 299 high-mass protostellar objects using the Korea VLBI Network (KVN) 21-m telescope. The sources were selected from the catalog of Red MSX Source (RMS) survey. Initial selection of the sample present high-mass protostellar objects in an evolutionary phase prior to ultra-compact HII regions, which have bolometric luminosities > $10^3L_{\odot}$ but are not associated with any radio continuum emission. After the follow-up work of ongoing RMS survey, final samples contains 56 sources classified as HII regions. We performed a simultaneous survey of 22 GHz water and 44 GHz methanol masers in 2011 and then conducted a simultaneous survey of 22 GHz water and 44 / 95 GHz methanol masers in 2012. The primary scientific goals of these surveys are to investigate the relationship among the three masers and to explore the relationship between each maser and the central star or the parental dense core. The detection rates of two epochs are 42% and 38% for water, 25% and 26% for 44 GHz methanol, and 23% (2012 only) for 95 GHz methanol masers. We performed a statistical analysis on subsample associated with a large data found in literature. In this poster, we will the preliminary data analysis results and discuss the implications.

  • NGC 1333 is a nearby star forming region, and IRAS 4A and IRAS 4BI are low-mass Class 0 protostars. IRAS 4A is a protobinary system. The NGC 1333 IRAS 4 region was observed in the 22 GHz water maser with a high resolution (0.08") using the Very Large Array. Two groups of masers were detected: one near A2 and the other near BI. Most of the masers associated with A2 are located very close (< 100 AU) to the radio continuum source. They may be associated with the circumstellar disk. Since no maser was detected near AI, the A2 disk is relatively more active than the Al disk. Most of the masers in the BI region are distributed along a straight line, and they are probably related with the outflow. As in many other water maser sources, the IRAS 4 water masers seem to trace selectively either the disk or the outflow. Considering the outflow lifetimes, the disk-outflow dichotomy is probably unrelated with the evolutionary stage of protostars. A possible explanation may be that both the outflow-maser and the disk-maser are rare phenomena and that detecting both kinds of maser around a single protostar may be even rarer.

  • We performed simultaneous observations of H2O and SiO masers toward VX Sgr using the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) and Source Frequency Phase Referencing (SFPR) method. The observations were carried out at 5 epochs from 2014 February to 2015 June. The relative locations of the SiO with respect to the H2O maser emission were determined at two epochs by SFPR for the first time. The H2O masers show well developed asymmetric outflow features which are spread up to ~300 mas in diameter. On the other hand, the SiO masers show a ring-like structure close to the central star with ~ 30 mas diameter. The SFPR observational results at two epochs (${\varphi}=0.83$ and 0.99) provide similar relative locations of H2O and SiO maser features. These superposed maps of H2O and SiO masers lead us to investigate the development of outflow motions from relatively spherical SiO maser regions close to central star to aspherical H2O maser regions according to optical phase of stellar pulsation together with the prediction of the position of central star.

  • We have carried out an extensive statistical analysis based on the results of simultaneous observations of SiO and $H_2O$ masers toward 166 known SiO and $H_2O$ maser sources using KVN_Yonsei radio telescope (Kim et al.2010, ApJS submitted). We investigate the distributions of the mean velocities and the intensity ratios between SiO and $H_2O$ maser emission including those between SiO v=1 and v=2,J=1-0 transitions according to type of evolved stars. We also investigate mutual relations between SiO and $H_2O$ maser properties(total flux densities and velocity structures etc.) according to stellar pulsation phases. Most of SiO masers appear around the stellar velocity (80 % within ${\pm}5km\;s^{-1}$), while $H_2O$ masers show a different characteristic compared with SiO masers (69% within ${\pm}5km\;s^{-1}$). In addition, we investigate a correlation between $SiO/H_2O$ maser emission and AKARIFIS flux density as well as the AKARI color characteristics of SiO and $H_2O$ observational results in the AKARIFIS two-color diagram.

  • With the Korean VLBI Network (KVN), both single dish and VLBI monitoring observations of H2O and SiO masers were performed toward the semi-regular variable star R Crateris. In the case of 11 VLBI monitoring observations from Jan. 5, 2014 to Jan. 7, 2016, successful superposed maps of H2O and SiO masers were obtained at 7 epochs by adopting the Source Frequency Phase Referencing (SFPR) method. These results enable us to investigate the development of outflow and asymmetric motions from SiO maser to H2O maser regions according to stellar pulsation which are closely related with a mass-loss process. Single dish monitoring observations of H2O and SiO masers were also carried out from 2009 June to 2016 Feb. Intensity variations between H2O and SiO masers were investigated according to stellar optical phases together with peak velocity variations with respect to the stellar velocity. We will compare the VLBI results among different maser transitions with those of single dish.

  • We present the results of image simulations of 43.1 GHz SiO maser emission toward a Mira variable using the KVN (Korean VLBI Network) and other facilities which can make joint VLBI experiments with the KVN. To test the imaging capability of the KVN we used the image of SiO masers in the simulation obtained by the VLBA, which is considered to be the optimum VLBI facility at present to study SiO masers toward evolved stars. The simulated images of SiO maser emission confirm that coordinate VLBI expriments of KVN with several more stations in Japan or in the neighborhood of Korean Peninsula are necessary to exert the functional benefit of the KVN as the first mm VLBI facility which can perform simultaneous observations at four different frequency bands.
