  • Mucoceles are common benign cystic lesions of the oral cavity that develop following extravasation or retention of mucous material from the major or minor salivary glands. Mucoceles are usually located in the lower lip (60 to 70% of cases), and the floor of the mouth is only involved in 6 to 15% of cases. Submandibular gland mucocele is extremely rare but should be considered in the differential diagnosis of swelling at the submandibular triangle in young children. We present the rare case of a 16-month-old child who was diagnosed with bilateral submandibular gland mucocele, presenting as serial swellings in both submandibular regions. We removed the cystic mass with the submandibular and sublingual glands to prevent recurrence.

  • This event-related fMRI study was to further our understanding about how different brain regions could contribute to effective access of specific information related to cognitive process and shows the different response of brain regions involved in recognition of familiar faces compared to unfamiliar faces and repetition effect.

  • Accessory navicular is a congenital anomaly appearing in the secondary ossification center on the tuberosity of the navicular that may cause flatfoot. Bipartite medial cuneiform is another rare congenital anomaly occurring as two primary ossification centers in the medial cuneiform. The authors report a rare case of symptomatic bilateral accessory navicular with bipartite medial cuneiform and flatfoot deformity in a 19-year-old man with a review of the literature.

  • To determine the accuracy of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging for discrimination between intervertebral disk extrusion versus protrusion. MR images of 80 patients who had MR imaging of the spine and confirmed as intervertebral disk extrusion or protrusion were retrospectively reviewed by an experienced musculoskeletal radiologist. A 1.5-T scanner was used. After review of medical records, MR findings of disk extrusion and protrusion were compared using the chi-square test. Intraobserver agreement for differentiation of disk extrusion from protrusion was calculated by using coefficient.

  • Korean displays an interesting construction (so-called possessor agreement construction), where a possessor nominal and its possessum nominal are marked with the same case as shown in the example Mary-ka John-ul tali-lul cha-ss-ta ‘Mary kicked John's leg’ More interestingly, not all possessors in possessive construction are marked the same case with its possessum as shorn in the ungrammatical sentence *Mary-ka John-ul cha-lul cha-ss-ta ‘Mary kicked John's car’. Hence, a simple but non-trivial question arises: In what situation are both possessors and possessums marked with the same case\ulcorner In this paper, we advance three claims: (i) Possessor agreement appears in the situation where entailment is satisfied as follows: If Mary kicked John's leg, it entails that Mary kicked John, (ii) entailment in possessor agreement results from theta-feature sharing; specifically, the whole DP and the possessor DP share the same theta role, and (iii) Possessor nominals are marked with accusative (or nominative) case when they are assigned internal theta role from the predicate directly.

  • The authors report a 42-year-old woman presented with a falx meningioma with disproportionately severe peritumoral edema. Histological examination including immunohistochemical staining resulted in the diagnosis of secretory meningioma. In addition to tumor size, edema could not be explained by location, growth rate, vascular involvement, or other factors. We conclude that secretory meningiomas may possess an innate ability to cause brain edema.
