Currently for exploring marine resources, After confirming the location of the resources by controlling search equipment and sensor module, the method which collects sample of searched resources and analyzes the quality and a contents of the resources in research vessel is been applying. This search method is structure which analyzes an ingredient in ship and decides the quality of the resources. And real-time processing for an effective resources search is been demanding. Therefore we have developed a exploration system of marine resource that can display the type feature of resources by Graphic User Interface.

Digital Manufacturing-based production could be very effective in shipbuilding in order to save costs and time, to increase safety for workers, and to prevent bottleneck processes in advance. Digital shipbuilding system, a simulation-based production tool, is being developed to achieve such aspects in Korea. To simulate material flow in a subassembly line at a shipyard, the product, process and resources was modeled for the subassembly process which consisted of several sub-processes such as tack welding, piece alignment, tack welding, and robot welding processes. The analysis and modeling were carried out by using the UML(Unified Modeling Language), an object-oriented modeling method as well as IDEF(Integration DEFinition), a functional modeling tool. Initially, the characteristics of the shop resources were analyzed using the shipyard data, and the layout of the subassembly line was designed with the resources. The production process modeling of the subassembly lines was performed using the discrete event simulation method. Using the constructed resource and process model, the productivity and efficiency of the line were investigated. The number of workers and the variations In the resource performance such as that of a new welding robot were examined to simulate the changes in productivity. The bottleneck process floated according to the performance of the new resources. The proposed model was viewed three-dimensionally in a digital environment so that interferences among objects and space allocations for the resources could be easily investigated
The partitioning behavior of five printing ink solvents was studied in various cookie ingredients before and after baking which had different water content and different structure. Solvents were ethyl acetate, hexane, isopropanol, methyl ethyl ketone, and toluene which represent different characteristic functional groups. Gas chromatography (G.C.) was used to measure partitioning values at $25^{\circ}C$ on each raw and baked cookie ingredients. Baking condition of cookie ingredients was $260^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. In cookie ingredients, decreases in water content generally affected Kp of polar solvents, but did not affect that of the non-polar solvents. However, as water content decreased in the cookie ingredient, the Kp of the non-polar and polar solvents showed mixed results.

In this research, through LCA analysis, the environmental impact of automotive engine manufacturing and re-manufacturing was analyzed from the perspective of the entire process, and the greenhouse gas reduction effect was calculated based on this. The amount of greenhouse gas emitted from the process of acquiring and manufacturing raw materials for automotive engines is about 3,473 kg for new manufacturing and 872 kg for re-manufacturing. Thus, the amount of greenhouse gas reduction by engaging in re-manufacturing is about 2,601 kg; the analysis shows a reduction effect in each part of the entire process except for the processing stage. As a result of the LCA weighted analysis, the environmental impact of new product manufacturing was found to be 1.07E+03 Eco-point, and it was 2.67E+02 Eco-point for re-manufacturing. The share of GWP(Global Warming Potential) among the six major impact categories(Abiotic Depletion Potential, Acidification Potential, Eutrophication Potential, Global Warming Potential, Ozone-layer Depletion Potential, Photochemical Oxidant Creation Potential) as high at 99.72%(new manufacturing) and 99.68%(re-manufacturing).
Virtual manufacturing is a technology facilitating effective development and agile manufacturing of products via sophisticated computer models representing physical and logical schema and behavior of real manufacturing systems including manufacturing resources, environments, and products. Based on these models, virtual manufacturing supports decision making and error checking in the entire manufacturing processes from design to mass production. At first, we analyzed manufacturing preparation activities of the four major production shops such as press, body assembly, painting and final assembly, of a Korean automotive company. We then developed the workflow models out of the analysis by the IDEF methodology, and generated a strategic plan for the systematic application of the virtual manufacturing technologies. We identified many manufacturing preparation activities that can be improved by the application of virtual manufacturing technologies. Finally, we estimated the effect of improvement including time savings in car development processes and corresponding cost savings.
Environmental awareness is rising worldwide. however, cement manufacturing facilities use recycled resources to improve raw material and fuel substitution rates, contributing to environmental issues such as waste disposal. The emission of sulfur oxides (SOx), an air pollutant, has been regulated by limestone as raw material in cement manufacturing. However, the impact of increasing use of recycled resources on future facility processes and environmental changes is unclear. Therefore, the cement manufacturing facilities require desulfurization-related technologies and research. In this study, we investigated the applicability of desulfurization technology to cement manufacturing facilities and demonstrated various approaches to applying this technology using byproducts generated in cement manufacturing.

Process planning can be defined as determining detailed methods by which parts can be manufactured from the initial to the finished stage. Process planning starts with determining the manufacturing process based on the geometric shape of the part and the machines and tools required for performing this process. Distributed process planning enables production planning to be performed easily by combining the extracted process and various manufacturing resources such as operations and tools. This study proposes an algorithm to determine the process for a feature-based model and to combine manufacturing resources for the process and implements a distributed process planning system.

With the continuous development of the current industry, the current global environment is in a very serious situation, with resource supply and demand dependent on imports and huge costs for waste disposal due to the depletion of resources and mass generation of industrial waste. Its limitations have already been revealed in many fields, and the importance of re-manufacturing is drawing attention as a countermeasure to these problems. Re-manufacturing aims to recover products that are in the aging and disposal stages, recover to performance close to new products, and re-commercialize them. Among them, most of the machine tools are made of materials such as steel and cast iron with large structures, and raw materials are widely used when producing new products. In addition, since a lot of carbon is generated due to production, it is an object that can obtain a great re-manufacturing effect. Planner millers belonging to large machine tools are one of the machine tool equipment that can greatly reduce resources and energy through re-manufacturing because the structure is very large and the casting is several to tens of tons. Through this machine tool, performance tests and results are derived on the development of re-manufacturing source technology and domestic servo motor and CNC control device.

It is quite important for manufacturing firms to stably secure water, because industrial water is used for a variety of purposes as one of the important inputs in the production process. Despite the significance of industrial water use and the increase of industrial water demand, relatively little has studied regarding the industrial water use in Korea. This paper employs the marginal productivity approach in order to estimate the economic value of water in Korean manufacturing industry, and we use the information of 53,912 factories surveyed in 2003. The result of the likelihood ratio test shows that Trans-log is an appropriate model for estimating the data of this study. In Trans-log function model, the industry-wide output elasticity of water is 0.0104, and the marginal value is KRW 1,156 per ton. The estimated values differ across the sectors and these values range from the high value of about KRW 13,760 per ton in the transportation equipment sector to low values of KRW 428 per ton in the precision instrument sector. The research provides useful information to help policy-makers in developing and implementing more appropriate policies regarding the management and distribution of water resources by estimating the value of water resources by sector. In addition, Korean government enables the drafting of future water pricing scenarios based on the estimated value information.
