  • In surface grinding, the contact between the grinding wheel and workpiece introduce heat and resistance, which restrict the self-dressing of the grits and result in burrs and cracks on the workpiece. Therefore, before or during the grinding operation, it is necessary to self-dress the grinding wheel for more accurate performance. In order to determine the dressing time monitoring method of grinding wheel in surface grinding, a three-dimensional computer simulation of the grinding operation has been attempted based on the contact mechanism and surface-shaping system between the grinding wheel and the workpiece. The optimal dressing time is determined based on the grain wear and work surface roughness.

  • In this study, the static and dynamic characteristics of endmilling process was modelled and the analytic realization of chatter mechanism was discussed. In this regard, We have discussed on the comparative assessment of recursive time series modeling algorithms that can represent the machining process and detect the abnormal machining behaviors in precision endmilling operation. In this study, simulation and experimental work were performed to show the malfunctional behaviors. For this purpose, new recursive least square method (RLSM) were adopted for the on-line system identification and monitoring of a machining process, we can apply these new algorithms in real process for detection of abnormal chatter. Also, The stability lobe of chatter was analysed by varying parameter of cutting dynamices in regenerative chatter mechanics.

  • The chatter behaviour in endmilling is a complex and nonlinear phenomenon, so it is very difficult to detect and diagnose this chatter phenomenon, This paper presents new method for the detection of chatter in endmilling operation based on the wavelet transform. In this paper, the fundamental property of the wavelet transform is reviewed by comparing the spectrum of other algorithm such as FFT. This result using wavelet transform shows the possibiling of the chatter detection in endmilling operation.

  • The fine blanking is a process of pressworking which makes possible to produce thick sheet metal parts of finished sheared surface and close dimensional accuracy over whole material thickness in single blanki ng operation. Fine blanked parts in general are characterized by their cleanly sheared surface over the whole sock thickness and accurate size for the specific functions. The fine blanking technology is urgently needed to remove secondary operations which are necessary in conventional blanking operation and cost reduction. In this study, the effect of material texture and vee-ring on parts for automobile is investigated by experimental observation and analysis.

  • In this study, the characteristics of the surface around a hole on inlet and outlet of product which are manufactured by face mill or end mill cutting with a hole or a pocket in its surface, are investigated. Furthermore, experiment for optimization of process conditions to minimize the change of characteristics of milling cut surface after a hole cutting operation, is implemented. Applying the results in this study to surface manufacturing of mold products whose surface is uneven or metal products made by diecasting, reducing the number of sequence process to obtain fine surface is expected.

  • Manufacturing environment is getting characterized by unstable market demand, short product life cycle and timebased competition. For adapting this environment, machine tools have to be further versatile functionally in order to reduce part's set-up time. Unlike existing manufacturing systems mainly to focus on part flow, it is important to control tool flow using fast tool change device and tool delivery device in parallel machines consisting of versatile machine tools, because complete operations on a part can be performed on one machine tool in a single machine set-up. In this paper, under dynamic tool allocation strategy to share tools among machine tools, we propose a real-time tool allocation and operation esequence model with an objective of minimizing flow time using autonomy and negotiation of agents in parallel machines

  • Construction equipment is heavily loaded during normal operation. In recent years, there is a trend that lower gear noise levels are demanded for drivers to avoid annoyance and fatigue during operation. For articulated hauler's final drive, meshing transmission error(T.E.) is the excitation that leads the tonal noise known as gear whine, and radiated gear whine is also the dominant source of noise in the whole gearbox. This paper presents a method for the analysis of the tooth profile modification, and the prediction of transmission error under the loaded torques for the spur gear pair of the articulated hauler's final drive. And the transmission error, transmission error harmonics and contact stress are also calculated and compared before and after tooth modification under one torque. The simulation result shows that the transmission error and contact stress under the loads can be minimized by the appropriate tooth profile modification.

  • Door effort was calculated for a new door checker with torsion bar spring and integrated checker case by FE analysis. A hybrid checker arm which has peaks and valleys only on the upper surface was adopted to reduce noise in operation and make operation with more distinctive steps. The checker arm was modeled using shell elements to estimate both the longitudinal and the lateral resistance force by checker arm. By combining the checker arm resistance force obtained from analysis and the door self-closing force by the theoretical calculation, door effort was predicted to show the good correlation with test results. In addition the unrolling effect of roller model was investigated and a new roller type for more smooth rolling was studied.

  • In this study, the experiment result and numerical analysis on temperature distribution of a secondary battery module for high temperature operation type were compared. Because experimental battery has been in danger of explosions, experiment on temperature distribution was carried out using dummy batteries. Study on NAS battery module, which is secondary battery of high temperature operation type, is as follows ; Test result showed that battery's temperature is in steady state uniformly after 8 hours in each section. It is similar to experimental result for temperature distribution from the result of numerical analysis, and it takes about 8.5 hours to the $300^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper is to investigate the effects of the asymmetrical support stiffness on the stability of a supercritical driveshaft with asymmetrical shaft stiffness and anisotropic bearings. The equations of motion is derived for a system including a rigid disk, a massless flexible asymmetric shaft, anisotropic bearings and a support beam. The Floquet theory is applied to perform the stability analysis with the variation of the support stiffness, the shaft asymmetry, the shaft damping and the shaft speed. The results show that the asymmetric support stiffness is closely related to the stability caused by primary resonance as well as the supercritical operation. First, the stiffness variation can stabilize the system around primary resonance by weakening the parametric resonance from the shaft asymmetry. Second, it also improve the stability characteristics at a supercritical operation when the support stiffness is not so high relative to the shaft stiffness.
