  • Au doped $TiO_2$ nanoparticles have been synthesized using a reverse micelle technique combined with metal alkoxide hydrolysis and condensation. Au doped $TiO_2$ was coated with glass substrate. The size of the particles and thickness of the coating can be controlled by manipulating the relative rates of the hydrolysis and condensation reaction of TTIP within the micro-emulsion. The average size of synthesized Au doped $TiO_2$ nanoparticle was about in the size range of 15 to 25 nm and the Au particles formed mainly the range of 2 to 10 nm in diameter. The effect of synthesis parameters, such as the molar ratio of water to TTIP and the molar ratio of water to surfactant, are discussed. The synthesized nanopaticles were coated on glass substrate by a spin coating process. The thickness of thin film was about 80 nm. The degradation of MB on a $TiO_2$ thin film was enhanced over 20 % efficiency by the incorporation of Au.

  • In this paper, we describe our vision of a "Just-in-time" initiative to solve the Data Interoperability Problem (a.k.a. INTEROP.) We provide an architectural overview of our initiative which draws upon existing technologies to develop an immersive and collaborative approach which aims at empowering data stakeholders (e.g., data producers and data consumers) with integrated tools to interact and collaborate with each other while directly manipulating visual representations of their data in an immersive environment (e.g., implemented via Second Life.) The semantics of these visual representations and the operations associated with the data are supported by ontologies defined using the Common Logic Framework (CL). Data operations gestured by the stakeholders, through their avatars, are translated to a variety of generated resources such as multi-language source code, visualizations, web pages, and web services. The generality of the approach is supported by a plug-in architecture which allows expert users to customize tasks such as data admission, data manipulation in the immersive world, and automatic generation of resources. This approach is designed with a mindset aimed at enabling stakeholders from diverse domains to exchange data and generate new knowledge.

  • The idea of identification have become a subject of discussion ever since the time man started to contemplate on the meaning and value of his being. However, the concept of identity defined by theorists such as sociologists or cultural historians influence the consumption pattern of the major consumer group, in conjunction with the advent of the mass consuming age. The conflict and mutual realization among variable generations and residential areas of different. consumer levels profoundly affect the formation of the identity of the new generation and the role and experience of women. This series of transit is progressing more rapidly due to the characteristic situation of the expiration of a millenium. Advertising strives to control our interests and ideas on the products we choose to use and affects our identity by manipulating images of successful people. People tend to be influenced more significantly by the mass-culture than by people around them, such as family or friends, in rendering their self?identity; in which process, adopting the identity produced by mass-media and advertising. Such identity is conducted partly of the product identity and the stereotyped image suggested by mass-media. This study bears significance in the attempt to provide actual data and expand the realm of ideas and planning in future advertising through demonstrative analysis of self-identity creative in Korean TV advertising.

  • In this paper error-compensating techniques in three-point weighing method to precisely measure unbalance properties such as center of gravity and unbalance moment. In the conventional static methods, 1) fixture-errors, 2) effects of the contact between the fixture and the load scales, and 3) side effect due to the lateral frictional forces acting on the contact points between the fixture and the load scales are the major factors that lead to measurement errors. The proposed error-compensating method perfectly eliminates both the fixture-error and the contact-error simultaneously by manipulating the three measured reaction forces at three different angular locations. Also the friction-error is calibrated by comparing the sum of three reactions with the actual mass of the specimen. A set of measurement is performed using the same measuring system as Lee's, and a comparison of the results from the convectional, Lee's, and the proposed method is provided. The results show that the proposed method effectively compensates the errors listed above.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of high content of light-absorbing pigments on overall photosynthetic efficiency in high density microalgal cultures. The light harvesting complex II (LHC II) regulating gene of Rhodobacter sphaeroides, photosynthetic purple bacterium, was removed to construct a mutant strain that had less pigment content. The mutant and wild type strains were cultured under various light intensity by adjusting the distance from the light source. The productivity of the mutant strain was higher at high light intensity (over 118 ${\mu}E/m^2/s$) compared with one of the wild type , and was lower at low light intensity (34 ${\mu}E/m^2/s$). Especially, the concentration of LHC II mutant strain was 56% higher at 118 ${\mu}E/m^2/s$. The reduction of per cell pigment contents in the mutant strain lessened the degree of the mutual shading and thus enhanced the overall photosynthetic efficiency.

  • At what level of orthographic representation is phonology linked in thelexicon? Is it at the whole word level, the syllable level, letter level, etc? This question can be addressed by comparing the two scripts used in Korean, logographic Hanmoon and alphabetic/syllabic Hangul, on a task where judgements must be made about the phonology of a visually presented word. Four experiments are reported using a "homophone decision task" and manipulating the sub-lexical relationship between orthography and phonology in Hanmoon and Hangul, and the lexical status of the stimuli. Hangul words showed a much higher error rate in judging whether there was another word identically pronounced than both Hangul nonwords and Hanmoon words. It is concluded that the relationship between orthography and phonology in the lexicon differs according tn the type of script owing to the availability of sub-lexical information: the process of making a homophone derision is based on a spread of activation exclusively among lexical entries, from orthography to phonology and vice versa (called "Orthography-Phonology-Orthography Rebound" or "OPO Rebound"). The results are explained within the mulitilevel interactive activation model with orthographic units linked to phonological units at each level.

  • In this study we propose an image denoising algorithm which manipulates the information obtained from multiple images in the same environment for mobile smart phones. We also envisage a multiple images registration method for mobile smart phone cameras equipped with limited computing ability and present an effective image denoising algorithm combining and manipulating the information obtained from multiple images. We proved that the proposed algorithm has much better PSNR value than the method applying single image. We verified that the propose approach has good denoising quality and can be utilized in the feasible level speed on Android smart phones.

  • Itraconazole is a triazole antifungal agent to inhibit most fungal pathogens. To improve the oral absorption and dissolution of poorly water-soluble itraconazole, microsponge system composed of $Eudragit^{(R)}$ E100 and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) formulated by quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion method, and its physicochemical properties and pharmacokinetic parameters of itraconazole were studied. The microsponge of itraconazole were discrete free flowing micro sized particles with perforated orange peel like morphology as visualized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results showed that the drug loading efficiency, production yield, and particle size of itraconazole microsponge were affected by drug to polymer ratio, the volume of internal phase containing methylene chloride, stirring rate and the concentration of PVA used. Also, the results showed that the dissolution rate of itraconazole from the microsponges was affected by drug to polymer ratio. In other words, the release rate of itraconazole from microsponges was increased from at least 27.43% to 64.72% after 2 h. The kinetics of dissolution mechanism showed that the dissolution data followed Korsmeyer-Peppas model. Therefore, these results suggest that microsponge system can be useful for the oral delivery of itraconazole by manipulating the release profile.

  • Uninterrupted power supply has become indispensable during the maintenance task of active electric power lines as a result of today's highly information-oriented society and increasing demand of electric utilities. The maintenance task has the risk of electric shock and the danger of falling from high place. Therefore it is necessary to realize an autonomous robot system using electro-hydraulic manipulator because hydraulic manipulators have the advantage of electric insulation. Meanwhile it is relatively difficult to realize autonomous assembly tasks particularly in the case of manipulating flexible objects such as electric lines. In this report, a discrete event control system is introduced for automatic assembly task of electric lines into sleeves as one of the typical task of active electric power lines. In the implementation of a discrete event control system, LVQNN (linear vector quantization neural network) is applied to the insertion task of electric lines to sleeves. In order to apply these proposed control system to the unknown environment, virtual learning data for LVQNN is generated by fuzzy inference. By the experimental results of two types of electric lines and sleeves, these proposed discrete event control and neural network learning algorithm are confirmed very effective to the insertion tasks of electric lines to sleeves as a typical task of active electric power maintenance tasks.

  • Microalgae can grow autotrophically with the supply of light, carbon dioxide and inorganic nutrients in water through photosynthesis. Generally, microalgal growth is limited by the concentrations and relative ratio of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) among the nutrients in the aquatic environment. Each microalga has its specific optimum N : P ratio resulting in dominance in a particular water having similar nutrient composition. Algal bloom is an immense growth of certain microalga commonly cyanobacterium and can be sequestrated by reducing the limiting nutrient, generally P in the freshwater. Moreover, dominance of a less toxic blooming strain can be established by manipulating N : P ratio in the water. On the other hand, microalgal biomass of a certain species can be enhanced by increasing limiting nutrient and adjusting the N : P ratio to the target species. The above-mentioned eco-physiological features of microalgae can be more completely interpreted in connection with their genomic informations. Consequently, microalgal growth regulation which can be achieved on the basis of its eco-physiological and further genomic insights would be helpful not only in the control of algal bloom, but also for an increased yield of algal biomass.
