The deterioration and structural damage such as exfoliation, cracks, and separation of painted layer on the wall paintings of Maitreya Hall in Geumsan-sa temple have been accelerated since it was re-positioned to the original place after the dismantling from the building in 1993. The examination of which result and analysis described in this study, is a preliminary survey for establishing conservation plan of the wall paintings. It aimed at the understanding of the physical and chemical characteristics of the materials applied in the 1993 conservation. The research focused on the south walls which displayed the worst condition compared to other walls. Samples for the examination for the understanding of micro-structure, chemical composition, cristalisation, and particle distribution, were collected for finishing, middle, and consolidated layers of the walls between pillars and the ones between brackets. Those samples were collected from separated fragments of the walls. The sample analysis displayed that: 1. the 1993 conservation used the similar type of weathered soil as the original for the finishing layer, and such soil and sand for the middle layer; 2. those walls are composed of a group of mineral particles which are relatively equal in size and shape and in their distribution; 3. the mineral particles were cohered forming solid aggregate due to the application of acrylic resin for the reinforcement on the wall. The main composition of crystalisation on the first and the second reinforcement layers of the back walls were lime plaster ($CaSO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$). The overall examination confirmed that the priority of the future conservation treatment should be given to the removal of the first and the second layers of reinforcement and the treatment on the back walls which were partially consolidated.

An initial local government center received direct asking from citizens, wrote the documents by hand, and issued them. Later the appearance of computers, printers, and faxes made it possible to handle civil complaints through copying. Since 2010, as the e-government has started, entering civil service requests into computers after identification by themselves and printing the results has become established. In addition, with the introduction of unmanned administrative services, civil services become available in various places, which causes the increased satisfaction of citizens. One of the services is an unmanned civil service issuing machine, and more than 20 kinds of documents, including a copy of resident registration, can be issued directly. Of course, additional help may be needed if citizens are not familiar with the latest technologies. However, the unmanned civil service issuing machine is a highly satisfactory way in that it is less time-limited as citizens can visit a community center or city hall after the end of work. However, the main problem is that resident registration numbers and fingerprint recognition are required depending on the type of issuance, which increases the inconvenience of handling citizen complaints and is shunned. To solve this problem, we aim to study a method for improving the fingerprint recognition method of unmanned civil service issuing machines by expanding personal identification.
Noerok ia a green pigment used in Joseon dynasty, and its main usage was for forming foundation layers of Dancheong, the ornamental paintings on the surface of traditional buildings in Korea, such as the Daeung-jeon(main hall) of Bulguk-sa temple. In this research, we investigated the mineralogical characteristic changes of Noerok, a traditional Korean pigment, depending on its firing temperature. The Noerok that we experimented on was mined from Noeseong Mountain, Pohang where it is locally reserved. The major composition mineral is Celadonite, and the main constituent elements are Fe, Si, K and Mg, that refers to the existence of Fe-rich mica. As a result of phased firing experiment from $105^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$, the color was changed from green to pale green, then to brown, and finally to red in order. In the thermal analysis, endothermic reaction induced by the dehydration of crystalline water was confirmed at around $616^{\circ}C$. In the mineralogical change, the crystal surface [($11{\bar{1}}$) and ($02{\bar{1}}$)] of the mineral collapsed at temperatures above $600^{\circ}C$, and iron oxide was formed at $1000^{\circ}C$ or higher. Therefore, it is estimated that the crystallization temperature of Noerok is below $600^{\circ}C$, and it is also considered that it has undergone the alteration phase up to stage I, based on the presence of only a celadonite.

The study pertains to reviewing and discussing of the master plan of the main buildings in the palaces of Joseon Dynasty regarding on a Feng Shui concept that has been implemented on the palace axis that is originated from the main mountain. Gyeongbokgung (景福宮) Palace is located on the northwest coner of Hanyang (漢陽) and on the tip of the main mountain which is in contrast a quite distinguishable from the location of the Fobidden city in Beijing located in the middle of a vast basin. Changdeokgung (昌德宮) Palace as well is also located on the tip of Eungbong (鷹峯), a part of Samkaksan (三角山) mountain, of which the locations were designed for the palaces to receive the benevolent force from the main mountain. The same concept was also applied to appointing the ideal location of the maJor buildings such as Jungjeon (正殿: The throne hall), Pyunjeon (便殿: The king's office) and Chimjeon (寢殿: The king and queen's residence) in the palace that must receive the benevolent force from the qui stream also originated from the main mountain, as such that the buildings have in close relationship with the king. Amisa (蛾眉砂) had been considered as an important geographical milestone of the estate where the palace is located, especially as the guiding landmark for other buildings that must be on the land axis. The land axis with the Amisa as the starting point attributed the Feng Shui as an important measure that determines the location and the shape of other buildings. The buildings location was appeared as having the conceptual buildings location as 'front office-back bedroom building (前朝後寢)' and 'three gates-three sectors (三問三朝)' as per the Rites of Zhou (周禮). On both palaces, Amisa is located on the benevolent point of the land, and the king's bed room buildings are located near the Amisa. The main offices were located on the south of the king's bed room buildings. By practicing this type of concept, consequently the king can receive the pure benevolent force first. In the case of the clearly distinguished locations of the buildings in Gyeongbokgung Palace, Chimjeon, Pyunjeon and Jungjeon were located on the same main qui stream. However, in Changdeokgung Palace where scattered qui stream is observed, the buildings are located on the scattered qui stream. The study found that the type of location of Jungjeon receives least amount of benefit from the Feng Shui but reflects primarily the king's authority rather than order and formality of the space.
The royal court of Joseon had a tradition of mounting the Irworobongdo, a painting of the sun, the moon and the five sacred peaks, symbols of the king's immortal presence and authority, on a folding screen and placing it in special spaces within the palace that were reserved for the king. While the Irworobongdo is generally accepted as the important ceremonial object of the royal palaces of Joseon, there have been few studies on the various folding screens used in the royal palaces, largely because the official records about such screens do not match the remaining original relics. In this study, the main discussion is focused on the diversity of the shapes and mounting materials of the Irworobongdoused for various ceremonies held in the royal palaces of Joseon based on the Uigwe, the official records of the royal protocols of the Joseon dynasty. The discussion also extends to the theme rarely studied so far, namely the original form of the Irworobongdo and its evolution in the following period. The ceremonial "five peak" folding screens (Obongbyeong) used at a number of important palace buildings, including the crown hall (Jeongjeon), royal funerary hall (Binjeon), spirit hall (Honjeon) and portrait shrine (Jinjeon), differed in shape and size from the folding screens used in royal celebratory events such as banquets, although the paintings themselves and the style of mounting them were essentially the same. The paintings were mounted on screens bordered with green silk and ornamented with floral gilt designs. The folding screens used in royal ceremonies were produced according to strict guidelines that required the ceremonies and mounting materials to be graded on the basis of the status of each screen. It was not until the 1960s that these ceremonial folding screens of the Joseon dynasty, which had been neglected during the period of Japanese colonial rule of Korea, began to undergo conservation treatment provided as part of a heritage preservation program. Unfortunately, many of the screens repaired in this period lost some of their original features - largely due to the use of non-traditional mounting techniques. Considering, however, that significant achievements have since been made in the heritage preservation field based on the use of historical evidence, it is now necessary to systematically use the repair history of the information about the remaining royal ceremonial folding screens to ensure that they are preserved and managed more effectively in the future.

The bracket sets which are supporting the weight of the roof, has to meet both requirements which are structural functions and act as an ornamental element. Therefore the bracket sets differ in many types from time and space and has done an important role in the history of architecture with many studies being presented. The first form of the bracket set has been found in the bronze table relics in zhong shan wang ling (中山王陵). Through the Eastern Han dynasty (A.D. 25-220) it became more specific in the shique (石闕) and huaxiangshi (畵像石) in the Han dynasty (206 B.C.-A.D. 220). Afterwards, as Buddhism was introduced to China, the bracket construction techniques shown in the Mogao Caves, Yungang Grottoes, and Longmen Grottoes has given much help for understanding the building techniques of wooden architecture. Especially the Xia-ang structure seen in the Mogao caves shows a vast development in wooden structure and a typical building would be the main hall of Fo Guang Shan monastery in Mt. Wutaishan from the Tang dynasty (A.D. 618-907). This accumulated techniques is inscribed in the 'Ying Zao Fa Shi (營造法式)' wooden structure designs which was published during the Northern Song dynasty (A.D. 960-1127) and many buildings were constructed following this technique after the publication. During this period, it is assumed that Baek-jae (B.C.18-A.D.660) in the Korean peninsula also used the Xia-ang technique, but there havn't been many studies on this field. In this thesis it is introducing the development of the building techniques and structural features of the Xia-ang wooden architecture during the Tang and Song dynasty.
This study examines the details and characteristics of prizewinning plans of Cho-Sun housing plan competition promoted by Daily Cho-Sun Company during Japanese colonial period. The main features of Cho-Sun housing plan competition were that the competition held with an application of popular newspaper readers and a judging committee was composed of only Korean architects, especially Park, Gil-Ryong as the president of the board of examiners. Cho-Sun housing plan competition put ideological factors for the improvement of living as like advancing to the cultured(modem) life, respecting for family life, respecting for privacy of family members and so on. First of all, the competition suggested the direction of the improvement of dwelling spaces which focused on making harmonious home life. This study found common characteristics of prizewinning plans of Cho-Sun housing plan competition as the result. First, Cho-Sun housing plan competition introduced a centralized house plan as a model of the improvement of small-sized houses. Second, architectural orders of western or Japanese style mingled with ones of korean traditional style in prizewinning plans as entrance hall, western style reception room(parlour), maid's room, bathroom for example. And a manner of seating using chairs was brought into the style of living which would be assumed in the prizewinning plans. Third, traditional way of composing dwelling spaces was maintained, receiving the characteristics of dwelling spaces of japanese style simultaneously, which central corridor was put at the heart of house for improving arrangement of rooms and flow lines. Fourth, lavatory and bathroom were placed inside of the house.
In this paper, we present the virtual dancing studio for distributed virtual environment. In this system, geographically distributed user shares the virtual dancing hall and interacts with each other. The participating object can be a graphical avatar or a live video stream. It allows the coexistence of graphic objects and real images in the shared virtual space. One of the main technical challenges in developing the distributed virtual environment is to handle excessive network traffic. In an effort to effectively reduce the network traffic, we propose a scheme to adjust the QoS of each object with respect to the distance from the observer in the virtual space. The server maintains the QoS vector for each client's shared space and controls the packet traffic to individual clients based on its QoS vectors. We develop a proto-type virtual dancing environment. Java based development enables the client to be platform independent. The result of experiment shows that the adoption of hierarchical QoS management significantly reduces the overall network traffic.

SPA brands have quickly expanded in domestic fashion markets as native SPA brands enter markets that foreign SPA brands previously occupied. It is important that each SPA brand establish its own brand identity to differentiate itself from other brands when SPA brand competition in fashion markets increases. This study investigates how SPA brands express brand identities through colors due to their importance for visualization strategies and brand identity. This study conducted a simultaneous literature study and case study. First, this study reviewed the theoretical background of brand identity and its relationship with colors as well as SPA brands by studying relevant literature and cases of domestic academic theses and data on Internet web sites. After reviewing the theoretical background of SPA brands, this study selected 4 stores of SPA brands (8SECONDS, H&M, UNIQLO, and ZARA) as case study targets and analyzed the stores' external appearance, interior and product colors. Store analysis divided colors into identity colors and trend colors with each SPA company expressing its own brand identity through: the store's external appearance (logo color), painted interior colors (ceiling, floor, walls, mannequins, hangers, equipment, and store-carrier bag), or trend colors (reflected in the store's main display hall or products). The results consider that each SPA brand sets the mass market as their target, and chooses the commercialization of latest fashion by selecting the latest trends in the fashion trend cycle, so its products do not reflect characteristics symbolizing the company's uniqueness and brand.
