For the high speed linear motor and the transportation device at clean room, a magnetic levitation rail without contact using the repulsive force of permanent magnets was newly developed. The characteristics of repulsive and lateral forces of the magnetic levitating system using permanent magnet was studied and the devised magnetic levitating system was evaluated by analytical and experimental approaches. This system is composed of two fixed guide rails with the rare earth permanent magnet array and a moving unit which is attached two magnet pairs at each sides. Because this system was forcedly levitated by the face to face repulsive forces, levitating air gap length can be repulsive force of an auxiliary magnetic repulsion system on the center of moving unit.

In order to accomplish a wireless communication of capsule endoscopy, an environment study in the human body and receiving antenna design have been performed. The proposed antenna is the loop antenna designed to minimize the propagation loss in multi-loss layer such as the human body and utilize the magnetic field. Considering the propagation loss in the human body, the frequency range is from 400 MHz to 500 MHz. Acorrrding to the FCC regulations, the permittivity and conductivity for each human tissue were extracted. We set up an equivalent model and make an aqueous solution which is replaced with the human body. Due to movement of capsule in the human body which propagation loss is extremly severe, an array antenna is required. Irrespective of the location of transmission antenna transmitting a signal of 1 mW, we confirme what it is possible for the enough signal detection as the average signal level of array antenna is -60 dBm.

In this paper, the surface wave that caused the isolation problem when the design of the array antenna is studied. The grounded dielectric slab model is used in order to simulate in the similar environment with the surface wave of the microstrip patch antenna. The propagation of the surface wave on the various types of grounds which are defected ground structure(DGS), perfect magnetic conductor(PMC), Soft-surface, and Hard-surface is simulated. As a result, 25 % power is blocked by the DGS when the TM-wave incident. Also, 95 % power is blocked by the PMC and Soft-surface. This study will be very useful to increase the gain of an array antenna by improving the isolation between the antenna elements.
There are many actuators and sensors used for attitude control system for KOMPSAT such as Reaction Wheel Assembly, Magnetic Torque Assembly, Dual Thruster Module, Solar array Drive, Three Axis Magnetometer, Conical Earth Sensor, Fine Sun Sensor Assembly, Coarse Sun Sensor Assembly, Gyro Reference Assembly and so on. For KOMPSA T satellite it has been considered using the Magnetic Torquer (MTQ) generating the magnetic dipole moment. In general, the magnetic dipole moment for satellite attitude control system is used for dumping out the excessive reaction wheel momentum so that the reaction wheel speed is not saturated. The objective of this study is to analyze the magnetic field characteristics generated by the Magnetic Torquer using the Maxwell 2D Field Simulator software. Currently, the developing model (DM) of the MTQ is being developed and manufactured at a company under the supervision of KARL MTQ is an electromagnet consisting of a ferromagnetic cylindrical core on which an excitation coil is wound. A current is passed through the coil to produce a dipole momentum in the ferromagnetic core. The configuration of the MTQ will be introduced in the presentation. The 2 dimensional model of the MTQ is drawn as axisymmetric models in RZ plane, and each corresponding material is assigned to the each MTQ object, the core, coil, and background. After the boundary conditions, current sources, and solution parameters are set up, the magnetic field intensities, directions, and other values specified by users can be calculated by using the finite element analysis. The theoretical magnetic field quantities obtained by the Maxwell 2D Simulator can be used for the basis of the development of the MTQ.

The energy storage systems are being widely researched for the high quality of the electric power. The FES(flywheel energy system) is especially, on the center of the research because it does not make any pollution and its life is long. The FES converts the electrical energy into the mechanical kinetic energy of the flywheel and reconverts the mechanical energy into the electrical energy. In order to store as much energy as possible, the flywheel is supposed to be rotated with very high speed. The motor/generator of the FES should be high efficient at high speed, and generate constant torque with respect to the rotation. In this paper, a motor/generator employing a Halbach array of permanent magnets is designed and constructed to meet the requirements, and its characteristics are examined. The magnetic field is analysed by using the magnetic surface charge method. The armature winding is designed for the harmonic components to be minimized by using the FFT. The sinusoidal current for the motor driving are generated by the hysteresis current controller. A sample superconducting flywheel energy storage system is constructed with a duralumin flywheel which has a maximum rotating speed of 40,000[rpm] and a stored energy of 240[Wh] and its validity is examined through the experiment.

MFL method is a qualitative inspection tool and is a reliable, fast and economical NDT method. The application of MFL method to the inspection of storage tank floor plates has been shown to be a viable means. Examination of tank floors previously depended primarily upon ultrasonic test methods that required slow and painstaking application. Therefor most ultrasonic inspection of storage tank has been limited to spot testing only. Our NDE group have developed magnetic flux leakage system to overcome limitation of ultrasonic test. The developed system consists of magnetic yoke, array sensor, crawler and software. It is proved that the system is able to detect artificial flaw like 3.2mm diameter, 1.2mm depth in 6mm thick steel plate.

Nondestructive testing (NDT) by using the electromagnetic methods are useful for detecting cracks on the surface and subsurface of the metal. However, when the material contains both ferromagnetic and paramagnetic materials, it is difficult for NDT to detect and analyze cracks using this method. In addition the existence of a partial ferromagnetic material can be incorrectly characterized as a crack in the several cases. On the other hand a large crack has sometimes been misunderstood as a partially magnetized region. Inconel 600 is an important material in atomic energy plant. A nickel film is coated when a crack a appears on an Inconel substrate. Cracks are difficult to detect on the combined material of an Inconel substrate with a nickel film, which are paramagnetic and ferromagnetic material respectively. In this paper, a scan type magnetic camera, which uses a complex induced current-magnetic flux leakage (CIC-MFL) method as a magnetic source and a linearly integrated Hall sensor array (LIHaS) on a wafer as the magnetic sensors, was examined for its ability to detect cracks on the combined material. The evaluation probability of a crack is discussed. In addition the detection probability of the minimum depth was reported.

This study investigated the magnetic properties of $Ni_{80}Fe_{20}/SiO_2$ laminates with shape-induced magnetic anisotropy. The multilayer films were deposited on Si or upilex substrates, from separate $Ni_{80}Fe_{20}$ and $SiO_2$ (at %) alloy targets using a rf diode sputtering system. $Ni_{80}Fe_{20}/SiO_2$ laminates with a various number of bilayers (N) were prepared. The laminates with ellipse array patterns were prepared using photolithographic technique. The magnetic properties were measured at room temperature using a B-H hysteresisgraph and a high frequency permeameter. The several steps during domain wall reversal were observed in multilayer films, attributing to inter-magnetic layer coupling. Intrinsic uniaxial anisotropy field increases with N. The experimental values of the total anisotropy field are found to be in good agreement with the calculated values. This study utilized the shape anisotropy of the laminated film objects with small ellipse array patterns to induce a larger uniaxial anisotropy so as to maximize their operating frequency.
Purpose : To investigate the feasibility and accuracy of Proton Resonance Frequency (PRF) shift based magnetic resonance (MR) temperature mapping utilizing the self-developed center array-sequencing phase unwrapping (PU) method for non-invasive temperature monitoring. Materials and Methods : The computer simulation was done on the PU algorithm for performance evaluation before further application to MR thermometry. The MR experiments were conducted in two approaches namely PU experiment, and temperature mapping experiment based on the PU technique with all the image postprocessing implemented in MATLAB. A 1.5T MR scanner employing a knee coil with $T2^*$ GRE (Gradient Recalled Echo) pulse sequence were used throughout the experiments. Various subjects such as water phantom, orange, and agarose gel phantom were used for the assessment of the self-developed PU algorithm. The MR temperature mapping experiment was initially attempted on the agarose gel phantom only with the application of a custom-made thermoregulating water pump as the heating source. Heat was generated to the phantom via hot water circulation whilst temperature variation was observed with T-type thermocouple. The PU program was implemented on the reconstructed wrapped phase images prior to map the temperature distribution of subjects. As the temperature change is directly proportional to the phase difference map, the absolute temperature could be estimated from the summation of the computed temperature difference with the measured ambient temperature of subjects. Results : The PU technique successfully recovered and removed the phase wrapping artifacts on MR phase images with various subjects by producing a smooth and continuous phase map thus producing a more reliable temperature map. Conclusion : This work presented a rapid, and robust self-developed center array-sequencing PU algorithm feasible for the application of MR temperature mapping according to the PRF phase shift property.
In this paper, a novel planar type magnetic levitation system without other assistant devices is proposed and it can move with 6 degree of freedom (X, Y, Z, ${\theta}_X$, ${\theta}_Y$, ${\theta}_Z$) in wafer size as well as in nano scale positioning. The mover is composed with 2-D Halbach permanent magnet array and the stator is composed with $10{\times}10$ coil arrays. It was composed in laboratory and tested with short stroke (4 [mm]) and long stroke (160 [mm])movements. The errors of short movement test is [X, Y, Z, ${\theta}_X$, ${\theta}_Y$, ${\theta}_Z$]${\leq}$ [${\pm}200nm$, ${\pm}200nm$, ${\pm}250nm$, ${\pm}3urad$, ${\pm}2urad$, ${\pm}1urad$]The errors of long stroke movement test is [X, Y, Z, ${\theta}_X$, ${\theta}_Y$, ${\theta}_Z$]${\leq}$ [${\pm}200nm$, ${\pm}200nm$, ${\pm}250nm$, ${\pm}1.5urad$, ${\pm}2urad$, ${\pm}0.5urad$].
