A navigation sensor system for outdoor AGV(Automatic Guided Vehicle) using AMR(Anisotropic Magnetoresitive) sensors is described. We derive a formula of the position of AMR sensor using the measured magnetic field intensity due to permanent magnet with constant distance. The system consists of sensor board. sensor control board and position processing board. The sensor board measures magnetic field intensity, the sensor control board controls the measurement of six sensors sequentially, and the position processing board computes the accurate position of the permanent magnet using Least Square Method. We arranged six sensors at intervals of 30cm and measured the position of the permanent magnet moving at intervals of 30cm. Experimental results showed that we can get standard deviation of 2mm and error of &\pm&4.5mm at a height of 20cm from the permanent magnet.

The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and atomic magnetic resonance (AMR) plays a fundamental role in achieving a high accuracy of magnetic field measurements. Magnetic field unit (T) was realized based on the shielded proton gyromagnetic ratio (${\gamma}^{\prime}_P$), helium-4 gyromagnetic ratio (${\gamma}_{4He}$) and related techniques. The magnetic field standard system has been disseminated by the NMR magnetometer and electromagnet, a Helmholtz coil system, and AMR magnetometer in the nonmagnetic laboratory. A magnetic field standard below 1 mT has been developed by using Cs and Cs- $^4He$ AMR with automatic compensation of an external magnetic field noise. The standards serve for the calibration of magnetometers and support the test of sensors and materials in the range from $5{\mu}T$ to 2.0 T with (1 to 50) ${\mu}T/T$ uncertainty (k=2).

Commonly, a live-line alarm can be used to measure the electric field strength of a high-voltage system to calculate its current, but it is hard to detect the electric field of shielded cables or concealed structures, such as underground distribution cables. Current sensors can detect the magnetic field in a single core wire, but they cannot determine the magnetic field about a double-core wire because the currents flow in opposite directions. Therefore, it is very difficult to detect certain current problems, such as a fault current in an extension line comprised of a double line. In this paper, to ultimately develop a sensor that can detect the current regardless of line conditions, we used a simulation to determine the concentration of the magnetic field dependent on the distribution of the external magnetic field and the path of each line's core.

This paper is proposed that roadway recognition performance improvement for autonomous vehicle using magnetic markers that are embedded along the road center and the sensors mounted on a vehicle, and which changing of magnetic field that is measured along with vehicle driving. For Retrenchment of equipment cost, interval of markers is more expensive than existing method. In order to this, This paper is proposed that interval of markers is founded using magnetic field analysis, and which arrangement method of six magnetic sensors and control method of neural network. This paper is carried out magnetic field analysis, the acquiring of the training patterns, the training of the neural network and composition of steering control, and is verified that roadway recognition performance can improve using computer simulation with proposed methods.
Magnetoelectric (ME) composites composed of magnetostrictive and piezoelectric materials derive interfacial coupling of magnetoelectric conversion between magnetic and electric properties, thus enabling to detect ultra-low magnetic field. To improve the performance of ME composite sensors, various research teams have explored adopting highly efficient magnetostrictive and piezoelectric phases, tailoring of device geometry/structure, and developing signal process technique. As a result, latest ME composites have achieved not only outstanding ME conversion coefficient but also sensing of ultra-low magnetic field below 1pT. This article reviews the recent research trend of ME composites for sensing of ultra-low magnetic field.
The magnetic field standards, facilities and capabilities available at NPL for the calibration of magnetometers and gradiometers and the measurement of the magnetic properties of materials will be introduced. The details of the low magnetic field facility will be explained and the capabilities this facility enables for the characterisation and calibration of ultra-sensitive room temperature magnetic sensors will be presented. Building on core material capabilities that are compliant with the IEC 60404 series of written standards, the example of a standard permeameter that has been modified for the measurement of strips for real world conditions is discussed. This was incorporated into a stress machine to measure the DC properties of the soft magnetic materials used by the partners of a collaborative industry led R&D project at stress levels of up to 700 MPa. The results for three materials are presented and the changes in the properties with applied stress compared to establish which material exhibits favourable properties.
This paper describes the steering control and geomagnetism cancellation for an autonomous mobile robotusing MR sensors. The magnetic-resistive (MR) sensor obtains the vector summation of the magnetic fields from embedded magnets and the Earth. The robot is controlled by the magnetic fields from embedded magnets. So, geomagnetism is the disturbance in the steering control system. In this paper, we propose a new method of the sensor arrangement in order to remove the geomagnetism and robotbody interference. The proposed method uses two MR sensors located in a level plane and the steering controller has been developed. The controller has three input variables (dBx, dBy, dBz) using the measured magnetic field difference, and an output variable (the steering angle) ...
Measurement of magnetic signals generated from electric activity of myocardium provides useful information for the functional diagnosis of heart diseases. Key technical component of the magnetocardiography (MCG) technology is SQUID. To measure MCG signals with high signal-to-noise ratio, sensitive SQUID magnetic field sensors are needed. Present magnetic field sensors based on Nb SQUIDs have field sensitivity good enough to measure most of MCG signals. However, for accurate measurement of fine signal pattern or detection of local atrial fibrillation signals, we may need higher field sensitivity. In addition to field sensitivity, economic aspect of the SQUID system is also important. To simplify the SQUID readout electronics, the output voltage or flux-to-voltage transfer of SQUID should be large enough so that direct measurement of SQUID output can be done using room-temperature preamplifiers. Double relaxation oscillation SQUID (DROS), having about 10 times larger flux-to-voltage transfers than those of DC-SQUIDs, was shown to be a good choice to make the electronics compact. For effective cancellation of external noise inside a thin economic shielded room, first-order axial gradiometer with high balance, simple structure and long-baseline is needed. We developed a technology to make the axial gradiometer compact using direct bonding of superconductive wires between pickup coil and input coil. Conventional insert has mechanical support to hold the gradiometer array, and the dewar neck has equal diameter with the dewar bottom. Boiling of the liquid He can generate mechanical vibrations in the gradiometer array due to mechanical connection structure. Elimination of the mechanical support, and direct mounting of the gradiometer array into the dewar bottom can reduce the dewar neck diameter, resulting in the reduction of liquid He consumption.

Nowadays there are magnetic sensors in a wide variety of equipment such as computers, cars, airplanes, medical and industrial instruments. In many of these applications the magnetic sensors offer safe and non-invasive means of detection and are more reliable than other technologies. The electric current in a conductor generates a magnetic field detected by this type of sensor. This work aims to define a package dedicated to an electrical current sensor using a MTJ (Magnetic Tunnel Junction) as a sensing device. Four different proposals of packaging, three variations of the chip on board (CoB) package type and one variation of the thin small outline package (TSOP) were analyzed by COMSOL modeling software by simulating a brad range of current injection. The results obtained from the thermal and magnetic analysis has proven to be very important for package improvements, specially for heat dissipation performance.
North indicating azimuth angle sensors have been used in airplanes, ships traditionally and nowadays employed in smart phones. For the azimuth and roll angle measurement of the sensor, 3-axis acceleration sensor was added to the 3-axis magnetic field sensor. In this work, we have constructed a measuring system for the measurement of the magnetic field and the angle uncertainty of the magnetic field sensors. Measuring system could be useful not only in non-magnetic laboratory but also in normal laboratory, we constructed small size of 3-axis Helmholtz coils for the compensation environment magnetic field (Earth magnetic field and magnetic field from building) and the generation of magnetic field for the test of magnetic field sensor. The constructed measuring system could compensate environment magnetic field below 10 nT level and generate 3-dimensional magnetic field with magnitude uncertainty of 0.2 % and angle error of $0.2^{\circ}$ within the volume of ${\pm}30mm$ diameter at center of Helmholtz coils. For the conformation of developed measuring system, We tested commercially available 3-axis magnetometer and heading sensor.
