  • This paper presents the characteristics analysis of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(IPMSMs). The development of this program is based on Matlab. In oder to achieve the development of the program, basis algorithm for IPMSMs analysis took advantage of equivalent magnetic circuit analysis technique. The equivalent magnetic circuit analysis for IPMSMs are based on a rotate synchronous d-q reference frame. The mathematical model of the d-q frame voltage equations is used frequently for the analysis of IPMSMs. This program can consider a cross saturation effect and a iron loss and mechanical loss, and provide fast analysis results of IPMSMs characteristics.

Optimal Design of a Novel Permanent Magnetic Actuator using Evolutionary Strategy Algorithm and Kriging Meta-model

  • The novel permanent magnetic actuator (PMA) and its optimal design method were proposed in this paper. The proposed PMA is referred to as the separated permanent magnetic actuator (SPMA) and significantly superior in terms of its cost and performance level over a conventional PMA. The proposed optimal design method uses the evolutionary strategy algorithm (ESA), the kriging meta-model (KMM), and the multi-step optimization. The KMM can compensate the slow convergence of the ESA. The proposed multi-step optimization process, which separates the independent variables, can decrease time and increase the reliability for the optimal design result. Briefly, the optimization time and the poor reliability of the optimum are mitigated by the proposed optimization method.

  • Simple equivalent circuit model is developed for wireless energy transfer system via coupled magnetic resonances and practical design method is also provided. Node equations for the resonance system are built with the method expanding transformer's equations and the optimum distances of coils in the system is derived analytically for optimum coupling coefficients for high transfer efficiency. Moreover, to calculate the frequency characteristics for a lossy system the equivalent model is established at an electric design automation tool. The model parameters of the actual system are extracted and the results of modeling are compared with the measurement. Through the developed model, we can understand the principles that the system shows higher efficiency than conventional magnetic coupling systems and impedance matching is important to achieve high efficiency.

  • An H$_{\infty}$ control system design for a magnetic levitation system is presented. In the control system design, we consider the influence of both disturbances and uncertainties in the model. The main disturbances stem from the position sensors.The uncertainties are divided into electromagnetic and mechanical ones: the former are due to the gain change in the current amplifier, the influence of leakage flux and modelling error in the magnetic circuit and the latter are due to the changes of the mass and the moments of inertia of the vehicle. Therefore, the designed controller is indispensable to guarantee the robustness of this system for both stability and performance. The controller design is based on the standard H$_{\infty}$ optimal control problem. As the novel features in this paper :(1) there are two poles on j.omega.-axis in the control model;(2) an integrator is included in the controller so that equivalently there are three poles on j.omega.-axis in the model. Finally, several experiments and simulations are carried out to verify the high performance and robustness of the designed control system.m.

  • A precise linear motion stage supported by magnetically preloaded air bearings is introduced where preloading magnetic actuators are combined with permanent magnets and coils to adjust air bearing clearance by controlling magnetic force actively. Each of the magnetic actuators has a permanent magnet generating nominal magnetic flux for required preload and a coil to perturb the magnetic force resulting adjustment of air-bearing clearance. The characteristics of porous aerostatic bearing are analyzed by numerical analysis, and analytic magnetic circuit model is driven for magnetic actuator to calculate nominal preload and variation of force due to current. A 1-axis linear stage motorized with a coreless linear motor and a linear encoder is built for verifying this design concept. With the active magnetic preloading actuators controlled with DSP board and PWM power amplifiers, the active on-line adjusting tests about the vertical, pitching and rolling motion were performed, and the result shows very good linearity.

  • 철도 시스템에서 방사하는 9~150 kHz 대역의 자기장 복사 방출은 철도 시스템 주변의 무선 설비 등에 영향을 주어 통신 성능의 저하나 오동작을 초래할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 전기 철도 시스템에서 방사하는 9~150 kHz 주파수 대역의 전자파 노이즈에 대한 등가 회로 모델을 소스 및 전달 경로 분석을 통하여 제안하고, 철도차량의 견인 구동 시스템과 변전 시스템에서 발생하는 수 kHz의 스위칭 노이즈가 급전선과 선로의 루프 회로를 통하여 방사됨을 확인하였다. 또한, 실제의 구리-국수 간 중앙선 철도의 RC Bank의 효과를 분석하여 이러한 회로 등가 모델의 유효성을 검증하였고, 급전선과 선로 사이에 적정한 용량의 커패시터를 장하함으로써 효과적으로 설계 대책이 가능함을 보였다.

A Feedback Circuit of Effective Wireless Power Transfer for Low Power System

  • Wireless power transfer (WPT) is the technology that forces the power to transmit electromagnetic field to an electrical load through an air gap without interconnecting wires. This technology is widely used for the applications from low power smartphone to high power electric railroad. In this paper, the model of wireless power transfer circuit for the low power system is designed for a resonant frequency of 13.45 MHz. Also, a feedback WPT circuit to improve the power transfer efficiency is proposed and shown better performance than the original open WPT circuit, and the methodology for power efficiency improvement is studied as the coupling coefficient increases above 0.01, at which the split frequency is made.

  • The model interrupters of $SF_6$ gas electromagnetic contactor whose ratings are the voltage of 7.2kV and the short circuit current of 4.0kA have been designed and manufactured on the basis of theoretical and computational analysis for its development. The eddy current analysis, the magnetic field analysis and the calculation of the rotational force on arcs have been conducted using FLUX2D package. The short circuit current interrupting tests have been conducted to the model interrupters using the simplified capacitive synthetic test circuit in KERI. The results show that the model interrupters have a sufficient interrupting capability and the new design concept is proper for a good interrupting performance.

Research on the Influence of Inter-turn Short Circuit Fault on the Temperature Field of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

  • When the inter-turn short circuit (ITSC) fault occurs, the distortion of the magnetic field is serious. The motor loss variations of each part are obvious, and the motor temperature field is also affected. In order to obtain the influence of the ITSC fault on the motor temperature distribution, firstly, the normal and the fault finite element models of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) were established. The magnetic density distribution and the eddy current density distribution were analyzed, and the mechanism of loss change was revealed. The effects of different forms and degrees of the fault on the loss were obtained. Based on the loss analysis, the motor temperature field calculation model was established, and the motor temperature change considering the loop current was analyzed. The influence of the fault on the motor temperature distribution was revealed. The sensitivity factors that limit the motor continuous operation were obtained. Finally, the correctness of the simulation was verified by experiments. The conclusions obtained are of great significance for the fault and high temperature demagnetization of the permanent magnet analysis.

Increased impedance by quench at a shield layer of HTS power cable for fault current limiting function

  • To reduce the fault current below the current capacity of a circuit breaker, researches on HTS (High Temperature Superconductor) power cables with fault current limiting (FCL) function are increasing. An FCL HTS power cable transports current with low a impedance during normal operation. Yet, it limits the fault current by an increased inductive or resistive impedance of conducting layer when quench occurs at the FCL HTS power cable by the large fault current. An inductive type FCL HTS power cable uses increased inductive impendence caused by leakage magnetic flux outside the cable core when the quench occurs at a shield layer losing the magnetic shielding effect. Therefore, it has an advantage of less resistive heating than resistive type FCL HTS power cable and temperature increase is suppressed. This paper describes an ideal circuit model for the FCL HTS power cable to investigate the effectiveness of increased inductive impedance when quench occurs at the shield layer. Then, FEM analysis is presented with a simplified model cable composed of various iron yokes to investigate the effect of the shape of yoke on the generation of the inductive impedance.
