  • Persistent current switch (PCS) system in NMR, MRI, MAGLEV and SMES has many advantages, such as uniformity and durability of magnetic field and reducing a thermal loss, which enable many superconducting application to operate effectively. This paper deals with fabrication and test of heater trigger persistent current switch using coated conductor (CC) which has high n-index, critical current independency from external magnetic field and adaptable selectivity of stabilizer. PCS system consists of magnet power supply for energizing current to a magnet, heater, switch and magnet using coated conductor tape. Finite element method (FEM) is used to simulate thermal quench (switching) characteristic and design heater trigger. With FEM simulation, optimal length of heater is calculated by temperature and time analysis. Fabrication of PCS system and test of heater trigger characteristic were performed and compared with simulation result. This paper would be the foundation of researches of superconducting switching application.

  • In this paper, we propose design methods of suspension controller for magnetically levitated system(MAGLEV). In this interior, the study of Electromagnetic Suspension(EMS) which has several advantages is chiefly achieved but, because the EMS has highly nonlinear and unstable property it is difficult to design the suspension controller maintaining stability and high performance. Here a Gain Scheduling Control(GSC) based on pole-placement scheme and on linear quadratic gaussian(LQG) design is separately presented. The several control performance is shown by simulation.

  • The technology of supplying the electric power by wireless power transfer (WPT) is expected for the next generation power feeding system since it can supply the power to portable devices without any connectors through large air gap. As such a technology based on strongly coupled electromagnetic resonators is possible to deliver the large power and recharge them seamlessly; it has been considered as a noble option to wireless power charging system in the various power applications. Recently, various HTS wires have now been manufactured for demonstrations of transmission cables, motors, MAGLEV, and other electrical power components. However, since the HTS magnets have a lower index n value intrinsically, they are required to be charged from external power system through leads or internal power system. The portable area is limited as well as the cryogen system is bulkier. Thus, we proposed a novel design of wireless power charging system for superconducting HTS magnet (WPC4SM) based on resonance coupling method. As the novel system makes possible a wireless power charging using copper resonance coupled coils, it enables to portable charging conveniently in the superconducting applications. This paper presented the conceptual design and operating characteristics of WPC4SM using different shapes' copper resonance coil. The proposed system consists of four components; RF generator of 370 kHz, copper resonance coupling coils, impedance matching (IM) subsystem and HTS magnet including rectifier system.

This also shows approach methods and relative activities for project life- cycle to accomplish and ensure the system requirements of ATC system, RAMS and S/W quality activities. Furthermore, the key tasks conducted with ISA are noted in detail. These kind of activities for software quality of ATC system to obtain S afety Certificate could be a CASE model to improve the quality of domestic railway system and products, and also contribute to the growth of railway business and toward the achievement of overseas' railway signaling markets.

  • This Study discussed the roll forming process analysis of levitation rail for urban Maglev vehicle. To verify validity of roll forming process, we analyzed roll forming process for track shoe which is similar to levitation rail. The analysis process was composed of 12 passes and was performed for only 8 passes except overlapping passes. In the variation of temperature with each pass, surface temperature of the structure was cooled from initial $1200^{\circ}C$ to $1010^{\circ}C$ during 30 second before first pass, and central temperature and surface temperature was cooled to $980^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ in final pass, respectively. A length of structure after final pass is about 5 times longer than that before roll forming process. A strain of structure had a higher value in the inner part of the track shoe and show from minimum 2.5 to maximum 6.5. A torque applying on roll appear high in 2, 3 and 4 passes and a maximum value was $27,000ton{\cdot}mm$. Also it was analyzed that a load to the normal direction needs maximum 300ton.

  • In this study, the capability of an existing analysis method for the fluid-structure-soil interaction of an offshore wind turbine is expanded to account for the geometric nonlinearity and sea water drag force. The geometric stiffness is derived to take care of the large displacement due to the deformation of the tower structure and the rotation of the footing foundation utilizing linearized stability analysis theory. Linearizing the term in Morison's equation concerning the drag force, its effects are considered. The developed analysis method is applied to the earthquake response analysis of a 5 MW offshore wind turbine. Parameters which can influence dynamic behaviors of the system are identified and their significance are examined.

  • This paper proposes an equipment and an algorithm for modeling the magnetic force of electromagnets in magnetic levitation systems. We assume that the magnetic force model is represented in terms of a 2D lookup table. The 2D lookup table is constructed by applying noncausal filtering and interpolation to data measured by the proposed modeling equipment. The proposed modeling equipment is designed such that it can measure the magnetic force exerted on the levitation object while it changes the voltage applied to the electromagnet and position of the levitation object. The algorithm of making a 2D lookup table has two stages. The data measured by the proposed modeling equipment is smoothed by a noncausal filter and then the 2D lookup table is obtained by interpolating filtered data. The proposed modeling method has advantages of time-saving, model consistency, and chance of automation for mass production. We show the validity of proposed method through control experiments.

  • The author Present a modified multiloop algorithm including feedforward for controlling a 45kW step down chopper in the power supply of Maglev. The control law for the duty cycle consists of three terms. The first is the feedforward term which compensates for variations in the input voltage. The second term consists of the difference between the slowly moving inductor current and output current. The third term consists of proportional and integral terms involving the perturbation in the output voltage. This perturvation is derived by subtracting the desired output voltage from the actual output voltage. The proportional and integral action stabilizes the system and minimizes output voltage error. To verify the validity of the proposed multiloop controller, simulation study was tried using Matlab/sirnulink.

  • An inerter is a passive mechanical element whose inertance can be thousands of times its own physical mass. This paper discusses the application of an inerter-based passive control system, termed rotational inertial double-tuned mass damper (RIDTMD), to mitigate human-induced floor vibrations. First, the acceleration frequency response function of the floor with an RIDTMD is first derived. It is then employed to determine the optimal design parameters of the RIDTMD using the extended fixed-points technique. Based on a theoretical analysis, design-oriented empirical functions are proposed for the RIDTMD optimal parameters, whose performance for floor vibration control is evaluated by numerical examples, in which three typical human-induced load types are considered: walking, jumping, and bouncing. The results indicate that the applicability and effectiveness of the RIDTMD for human-induced floor vibration control are robust for various load types, load frequencies, and floor natural frequencies. For the same mass ratio, the RIDTMD is better than the TMD in reducing the floor vibration amplitude and improving the effective frequency suppression bandwidth, and for the same vibration suppression effect, the mass of the RIDTMD is much lighter than that of the TMD.

  • This paper deals with design of heater trigger switching in a persistent current system(PCS) by finite element method(FEM) analysis of YBCO coated conductor(CC) tape. Most promising superconducting wire is YBCO coated conductor tape in these days for its high n value and critical current independency from external magnetic field. It is expected to be used many superconducting application such as fault current limiter and cable etc. The superconducting magnet which is operated in persistent current mode in SMES, NMR, MRI and MAGLEV has many advantages such as a high uniformity of a magnetic field and reducing a thermal loss. A PCS system consists of magnet power supply (MPS) which energized current to a magnet, heater, a coated conductor tape for switching, and superconducting magnet. In this paper, the characteristic of thermal quench of the YBCO CC tape and BSCCO tape by heater trigger analyzed by FEM. And optimal length of heater is calculated by temperature and time analysis. This heater trigger analysis is expected to be a basic concept of PCS application design.
