It is important to consider the contrast of object in Mammography because an absorption gap between tissues of body and breast in breast is low. This study is to evaluate MTF image with resolution chart according to change of combination of target and filter. The results were as follows : 1. There were significant differences in X-ray energy according to combination of filter(Mo/Mo, Mo/Rh. Mo/Al, Rh/Rh, Rh/Al) and acrylic thickness(2 cm, 3 cm, 4 cm). 2. The value of lp/mm on MTF to 0.5 showed that the sharpness in MTF curve was 2.4 compared to Mo/Mo and 2cm acryl, 2.63 in Mo/Rh and 4 cm acryl, and 2.9 in Rh/Rh and 6cm acryl. 3. The value of lp/mm on MTF showed that the resolution in MTF curve was 6.0 compared to Mo/Mo and 2 cm acryl, 4.60 in Rh/Al and 4cm acryl, and 6.03 in Rh/Al and 6 cm acryl. 4. The value of MTF on 2.5 lp/mm distinguishable visually was 0.48 compared to Mo/Mo and 2 cm acryl, 0.53 in Mo/Rh and 4cm acryl, and 0.59 in Rh/Rh and 6cm acryl. 5. For the evaluation of an image of the mammo-phantom, the score of Mo/Mo was 12 points, Mo/Rh 11, Rh/Rh 10.5, Mo/Al 10, Rh/Al 9.0, respectively.
The purpose of the study was to present basic data to evaluation of the spatial resolution for exposure class(EC) in computed radiography(CR) by using the modulation transfer function(MTF). In this study, MTF was measured the edge method by using image plate(IP) of $100{\mu}mm$ pixels. A standard beam quality RQA5 based on an international electro-technical commission(IEC) standard was used to perform the X-ray imaging studies. Digital imaging began to set the sensitivity to EC 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1200 in X-ray irradiated to IP. The MTF 50% and 10% in the final images was analysis by using an authorized image analysis program the Origin 8.0 and the image J. As a results, the EC 200 was the best spatial resolution at MTF 50% ($1.979{\pm}0.114lp/mm$) and MTF 10% ($3.932{\pm}0.041$). Therefore, the EC 200 could be useful for the diagnosis of diseases that require high spatial resolution such as fractures.
The MTF(Modulation Transfer Function) is one of quality assesment factors to evaluate the performance of satellite images. Image restoration is needed for MTF compensation, but it is an ill-posed problem and doesn't have a certain solution. Lots of filters were suggested to solve this problem, such as Inverse Filter(IF), Pseudo Inverse Filter(PIF) and Wiener Filter(WF). The most commonly used filter is a WF, but it has a limitation on distinguishing signal and noise. The L-curve-based Modified Wiener Filter(MWF) is a solution technique using a Tikhonov regularization method. The L-curve is used for estimating an optimal regularization parameter. The image restoration was performed with Dubaisat-1 images for PIF, WF, and MWF. It is found that the image restored with MWF results in more improved MTF by 20.93% and 10.85% than PIF and WF, respectively.

We studied the method to gain a clear LSF using a thick aluminum sheet and to acquire the spatial resolution value with a high accuracy for a low spatial resolution imaging modality. In this study, aluminum sheets with thicknesses varying from 0.3 mm to 1.2 mm were tested to derive a modulation transfer function (MTF) for the oversampling and non-oversampling methods. The results were evaluated to verify the feasibility of the use of thick sheets for periodic quality assurance. Oversampling was more accurate than non-oversampling, and an aluminum sheet with a correction factor less than 2 at the cut-off frequency, which was less than 0.8 mm in this case, was confirmed to be suitable for MTF measurements. Therefore, MTF derivation from a thick aluminum sheet with thickness correction is plausible for a medical imaging modality.
In this study, the correlation among the changes of Modulation Transfer Function(MTF) in the noise and high-contrast resolution and the change of Contrast to noise ratio(CNR) in the low-contrast resolution will be examined to investigate the estimation of image quality according to the type of algorithms. The image data obtained by scanning American Association of Physicists in Medicine(AAPM) phantom was applied to each algorithm and the exposure condition of 120 kVp, 250 mAs, and then the CT number and noise were measured. The MTF curved line of the high-contrast resolution was calculated with Point Spread Function(PSF) by using the analysis program by Philips, resulting in 0.5 MTF, 0.1 MTF and 0.02 MTF respectively. The low-contrast resolution was calculated with CNR and the uniformity was measured to each algorithm. Since the measurement value for the uniformity of the equipment was below ${\pm}$ 5 HU, which is the criterion figure, it was found to belong to the normal range. As the algorithm got closer from soft to edge, the standard deviation of CT number increased, which indicates that the noise increased as well. As for MTF, 0.5 MTF, 0.1 MTF and 0.02 MTF were all sharp algorithms, and as the algorithm got closer from soft to edge, it was possible to distinguish more clearly with the naked eye. On the other hand, CNR gradually decreased, because the difference between the contrast hole CT number and the acrylic CT number was the same while the noise of hole increased.
One dimensional inhomogeneous aperture modulation effects on the MTF of optical system was investigated. The lens undertest was a doublet made in Korea. It was 10 mm effective diameter, 87.8 mm effective focal length. The ray-fans and spot diagrams were caluculated and presented on the picture for on-axis and off-axis (field of view, 1$^{\circ}$ and 2$^{\circ}$). Aperture modulation was carried out by positioning a aperture modulator close contacted with the lens undertest. We bought two modulators from Edmud Company in U.S.A. One was linear type and the other was stepped type. The MTFs were measured on the best of focus for unmodulated apertue where the MTF has the largest value for 60 c/mm and were compared with one another. The MTFs of modulated apertures had a little lower values than the MTF of unmodulated aperture for on-axis but in the case off-axis, the values are highly improved as much as the wider field of view by modulating on the aperture.
During X-ray examinations in the DR system, the scattered X-rays physically generated by the patient cause image blurring in poor quality. Although X-rays to increase the contrast of images, this increases the patient's exposure dose and is likely to result in grid induced artifacts. Therefore, the purpose of this study is obtain images similar to those of real-grid with non-grid level conditions using a VGR (Virtual Grid Role) algorithm that serves as a virtual grid. Comparing MTF, SNR and CNR of non-grid and VGR algorithm images obtained with 70% exposure conditions of real-grid images showed that the MTF0.5 differed from 0.265 to 0.350 and the MTF0.1 from 0.412 to 0.467 and the SNR, CNR were also different. In addition, comparing MTF, SNR and CNR of VGR algorithm and real-grid images showed that the MTF0.5 differed from 0.350 to 0.367 and the MTF0.1 from 0.467 to 0.483 and the SNR, CNR by little.

The MTFs were measured on the best of focus for each modulated aperture where the MTF has the highest value for 60 line/mm and were compared with one another. For on-axis, the MTFs of some modulated apertures had higher values than the MTF of unmodulated aperture in the high frequency region. In the case of off-axis, at the field of view $1^{\circ}$, the MTF values of some modulated aperture are improved prominently and some other one are disimproved. At the field of view $2^{\circ}$ most of the MTFs of modulated apertures had lower values than the MTF of unmodulated aperture except the MTFs of linear and inverse linear type aperture in the high frequency area. But the values of MTFs in high frequency region were too low for actual use.

To evaluate the effects of spherical aberration (SA) correction on optical quality in pseudophakic eyes, we simulated the optical quality of the human eye by computation of the modulation transfer function (MTF). We reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent cataract surgery in Asan Medical Center, retrospectively. A Zywave aberrometer was used to measure optical aberrations at 1-12 postoperative months in patients with AR40e intraocular lens implants. The MTF was calculated for a 5 mm pupil from measured wavefront aberrations. The area under the MTF curve (aMTF) was analyzed and the maximal aMTF was calculated while changing the SA ($-0.2{\sim}+0.2{\mu}m$) and the defocus (-2.0 ~ +2.0 D). Sixty-four eyes in 51 patients were examined. The maximal aMTF was $6.61{\pm}2.16$ at a defocus of $-0.25{\pm}0.66D$ with innate SA, and $7.64{\pm}2.63$ at a defocus of $0.08{\pm}0.53D$ when the SA was 0 (full correction of SA). With full SA correction, the aMTF increased in 47 eyes (73.4%; Group 1) and decreased in 17 eyes (26.6%; Group 2). There were statistically significant differences in Z(3, -1) (vertical coma; P = 0.01) and Z(4, 4) (tetrafoil; P = 0.04) between the groups. The maximal aMTF was obtained at an SA of $+0.01{\mu}m$ in Group 1 and an SA of $+0.13{\mu}m$ in Group 2. Optical quality can be improved by full correction of SA in most pseudophakic eyes. However, residual SA might provide benefits in eyes with significant radially asymmetric aberrations.
Carried out an experiment for quantitative evaluation about intraoral sensor among oral dental imaging equipments in PACS environment. For evaluation, testing environment & evaluation criteria are established that refer to the 'IEC 62220-1-2' and experimented with set up the standard radiation penetration that correspond with RQA-3(IEC 61267). Results of experiments using the image J, derived the ESF(edge spread function), LSF (line spread function) and calculated the MTF(modulation transfer function) finally. As a result, the MTF that 0.1, 0.2sec are 10% about 10 lp/mm and 0.32 sec is the 10% about 9 lp/mm in level represents the value of the MTF. Change of scan condition in dental environmental, according to the MTF value taken note that no changes can be seen enough. However, the dimensions of each other size $1(1200{\times}1600)$, size $2(1440{\times}1920)$ intraoral sensors for 3 lp/mm, respectively 40%, 90% of the note might have been the difference between the value of MTF, in accordance with standard sensors might note differences could be observed.
