THE STUDY ON THE PROPELLER AERODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTIC OF MICRO AERIAL VEHICLE USING THE MRF METHOD. (MRF 기법을 이용한 초소형 비행체 프로펠러 공력특성 연구)

  • This paper dealt with the flow simulation for the optimum designed propeller for Micro Aerial Vehicle, using a commercial CFD program(FLUENT). The propeller was modeled by the Multiple Reference Frame(MRF) method. For the validation of the computational method, the flow field analysis results for the propeller were compared with the flow analysis results, which are using Xfoil, for the optimum design, and with the wind tunnel data of a similar propeller model. By these validation processes, the reliability of MRF method was confirmed.

  • Magneto-Rheological Fluid (MRF) is a functional fluid in which flow characteristics change into magnetic force due to its magnetic particles. When the semi-active control device does not use MRF for a long time, precipitation of magnetic particles and abnormal control force occur. Thus, Electro Magneto-Rheological Fluid (EMRF), which improves the precipitation of magnetic particles for MRF and exhibits existing control performance, was developed in this study. First, the optimal mix proportion ratio was selected by conducting a precipitation experiment and a controlled force test by varying the content of grease based on the existing MRF components. Also, EMRF was applied to the shear-type damper to evaluate the control performance when applied to the control device. The cylinder-type damper was developed to apply to the structure, and control performance evaluation was conducted. The result confirmed that the precipitation of the magnetic particles was improved, while the damper using EMRF exhibited excellent control performance.

  • 수치표고모델, 정사영상과 같은 공간영상정보를 구축하기 위해서는 입체영상을 이동한 영상정합(image matching)의 과정이 필수적이며, 단영상 또는 스테레오 영상을 이용하여 대상물의 3차원 정보를 재구성하고 복원하는 기술은 사진측량 및 컴퓨터 비전 분야의 주요 연구 중의 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 화소값의 유사성과 상호관계성을 고려하는 MRF 모델을 이용하여 영상정합을 수행하였다. MRF 모델은 공간분석이나 물리적 현상의 전후관계(contextural dependencies)의 분석을 위한 확률이론의 한 분야로 다양한 공간정보를 통합할 수 있는 방법을 제공한다. 본 연구에서는 기준영상의 화소에 시차를 할당하는 접근 방법으로 확률모델의 일종인 마르코프 랜덤필드(MRF)모델에 기반한 영상정합기법을 제안하였고, 공간내 화소의 상호관계를 고려해주므로 대상물의 경계부분에서의 매칭 정확도를 향상시켰다. 영상정합문제에서의 MRF 기본가정은 영상 내 특정화소의 시차는 그 주위화소의 시차에 의한 부분정보에 따라 결정이 가능하다는 것이다. 깁스분포(gibbs distribution)를 사용하여 사후(posteriori) 확률값을 유도해내고, 이를 최대사후확률(MAP: Maximum a Posteriori)추정법을 이용하여 에너지함수를 생성하였다. 생성된 에너지함수의 최적화(Optimization)를 위하여 본 연구에서는 전역최적화기법인 multiway cut 기법을 사용하여 영상정합에 있어 에너지함수를 최소로 하는 이미지화소에 대한 시차레이블을 구하여 영상정합을 수행하였다.

  • Image segmentation is the process where an image is segmented into regions that are set of homogeneous pixels. The result has a ciritical effect on accuracy of image understanding. In this paper, an Markov random field (MRF) image segmentation is proposed using genetic algorithm(GA). We model an image using MRF which is resistant to noise and blurring. While MRF based methods are robust to degradation, these require accurate parameter estimation. So GA is used as a segmentation algorithm which is effective at dealing with combinatorial problems. The efficiency of the proposed method is shown by experimental results with real images and application to automatic vehicle extraction system.

  • Purpose: To accelerate magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF) by developing a flexible deep learning reconstruction method. Materials and Methods: Synthetic data were used to train a deep learning model. The trained model was then applied to MRF for different organs and diseases. Iterative reconstruction was performed outside the deep learning model, allowing a changeable encoding matrix, i.e., with flexibility of choice for image resolution, radiofrequency coil, k-space trajectory, and undersampling mask. In vivo experiments were performed on normal brain and prostate cancer volunteers to demonstrate the model performance and generalizability. Results: In 400-dynamics brain MRF, direct nonuniform Fourier transform caused a slight increase of random fluctuations on the T2 map. These fluctuations were reduced with the proposed method. In prostate MRF, the proposed method suppressed fluctuations on both T1 and T2 maps. Conclusion: The deep learning and iterative MRF reconstruction method described in this study was flexible with different acquisition settings such as radiofrequency coils. It is generalizable for different in vivo applications.

  • 미국 QED Technologies(이하 QED)가 세계 최초로 상용화한 자기유동유체연마장치(이하 MRF$^{(R)}$-Magnetorheological (Fluid) Finishing)는 역시 QED가 개발한 간섭계 응용장비인 SSI$^{(R)}$(Subaperture stitching interferometer)와 같이 운용하면 1um 이하의 나노광학산업에서 ${\lambda}/10$ 또는 ${\lambda}/100$ 이상 더 정밀한 영역을 손 쉽게 제조할 수 있는 획기적인 공정을 가능하게 한다. 이러한 능력 때문에 미국, 유럽 및 일본 등의 첨단광학회사들은 96년 상업화된 이후 MRF$^{(R)}$와 SSI$^{(R)}$ 공정을 앞다투어 도입하며 기존공정이 지니고 있던 많은 한계들을 극복했다. 우리나라의 MRF와 SSI의 도입은 선진국에 비해 10년 이상 늦어진 2008년에 이르러서야 최초의 장비가 도입되었으며 이후 꾸준히 그 응용분야가 확장되어 가고 있다. 2012년에는 한국천문연구원과 그린광학에 SSI의 최신장비인 ASI(Aspheric Stitching Interferometer)와 MRF가 각각 도입됐다. 이를 계기로 해서 한국사무소에서 제안을 하여 QED사의 총괄대표이사인 Dr. Andrew Kulawiec, 응용기술부장인 Paul Dumas, QED 한국사무소의 오한석 박사와 신지식 박사가 그간의 기술동향을 발표하는 기술강연회가 지난 2012년 10월 23일 개최되었다. 한국천문연구원, 그린광학과 한국광학기기산업협회의 후원으로 한국천문연구원 은하수홀에서 개최된 이번 강연회에서는 다음과 같은 세가지 주제를 다루었다. 1. MRF의 원리 및 응용분야의 현황과 장비개발 현황 2. SSI의 원리 및 응용분야의 현황과 장비개발 현황 3. 광학설계와 가공실현성에 도움이 되는 비구면을 표현하는 새로운 식 Q-Polynominal 이번 강연회는 특히 QED의 공정 및 장비개발자들이 직접 참가한 기술강연회로 지난 2004년 및 2008년에 열린 기술강연회와 차별화되며, 25개 업체 약 50여 명이 참석하여 성황리에 마무리되었다. 향후 국내의 사용자 그룹에 대한 세미나를 정기적으로 개최해 QED의 첨단광학기술에 대한 정보교환의 장을 확대할 예정이며, 기술강연회도 가능한 한 정기화할 예정이다. 이번 강연회의 주제 중 우선 MRF와 SSI에 대한 논의를 광학세계 1월호에 소개하고자 한다.

Feasibility of Novel Three-Dimensional Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting of the Prostate Gland: Phantom and Clinical Studies

  • Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of a new three-dimensional (3D) MR fingerprinting (MRF) technique for the prostate gland by conducting phantom and clinical studies. Materials and Methods: The new 3D MRF technique used in this study enables quick data acquisition and has a high resolution. For the phantom study, the MRF T1 and T2 values in an in-house phantom were compared with those of goldstandard mapping methods using linear regression analysis. For the clinical study, we evaluated 90 patients who underwent prostate imaging with MRF for suspected prostate cancer between September 2019 and February 2020. The mean T1 and T2 values were compared in the peripheral zone, transition zone, and focal lesions using paired t tests. The differences in the T1 and T2 values according to cancer aggressiveness were evaluated using one-way analysis of variance. Results: In the phantom study, the MRF T1 and T2 values showed a perfect correlation with the gold-standard T1 and T2 values (R > 0.99). In the clinical study, the T1 and T2 values in the peripheral zone were significantly higher than those in the transitional zone (p < 0.001, both). The T1 and T2 values in prostate cancer were significantly lower than those in the peripheral and transitional zones. The higher the grade of cancer, the lower the T2 values. Conclusion: The T1 and T2 values obtained from the 3D MRF showed a perfect correlation with the gold standard values in the phantom study. Differences in the T1 and T2 values among the different zones of the prostate gland were identified using 3D MRF in patients.

A Study on the Self-Propulsion CFD Analysis for a Catamaran with Asymmetrical Inside and Outside Hull Form (안팎 형상이 비대칭인 쌍동선의 자항성능 CFD 해석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, simulations based on computational fluid dynamics were performed for self-propulsion performance prediction of a catamaran that has asymmetrical inside and outside hull form and numerous knuckle lines. In the simulations, the Moving Reference Frame (MRF) or Sliding Mesh (SDM) techniques were used, and the rotation angle of the propeller per time step was different to identify the difference using the analysis technique and condition. The propeller rotation angle used in the MRF technique was 1˚ and those used in the SDM technique were 1˚, 5˚, or 10˚. The torque of the propeller was similar in both the techniques; however, the thrust and resistance of the hull were computed lower when the SDM technique was applied than when the MRF technique was applied, and higher as the rotation angle of the propeller per time step in the SDM technique was smaller in the simulations for several revolutions of the propeller to estimate the self-propulsion condition. The revolutions, thrust, and torque of the propeller in the self-propulsion condition obtained using linear interpolation and the delivered power, wake fraction, thrust deduction factor, and revolutions of the propeller obtained using the full-scale prediction method showed the same trend for both the techniques; however, most of the self-propulsion efficiency showed the opposite trend for these techniques. The accuracy of the propeller wake was low in the simulations when the MRF technique was applied, and slight difference existed in the expression of the wake according to the rotation angle of the propeller per time step when the SDM technique was applied.

A Study on Road Detection Based on MRF in SAR Image (SAR 영상에서 MRF 기반 도로 검출에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, an estimation method of hybrid feature was proposed to detect linear feature such as the road network from SAR(synthetics aperture radar) images that include speckle noise. First we considered the mean intensity ratio or the statistical properties of locality neighboring regions to detect linear feature of road. The responses of both methods are combined to detect the entire road network. The purpose of this paper is to extract the segments of road and to mutually connect them according to the identical intensity road from the locally detected fusing images. The algorithm proposed in this paper is to define MRF(markov random field) model of the priori knowledge on the roads and applied it to energy function of interacting density points, and to detect the road networks by optimizing the energy function.

Energy-factor-based damage-control evaluation of steel MRF systems with fuses

  • The primary objectives of this research are to investigate the energy factor response of steel moment resisting frame (MRF) systems equipped with fuses subject to ground motions and to develop an energy-based evaluation approach for evaluating the damage-control behavior of the system. First, the energy factor of steel MRF systems with fuses below the resilience threshold is derived utilizing the energy balance equation considering bilinear oscillators with significant post-yielding stiffness ratio, and the effect of structural nonlinearity on the energy factor is investigated by conducting a parametric study covering a wide range of parameters. A practical transformation approach is also proposed to associate the energy factor of steel MRF systems with fuses with classic design spectra based on elasto-plastic systems. Then, the energy balance is extended to structural systems, and an energy-based procedure for damage-control evaluation is proposed and a damage-control index is also derived. The approach is then applied to two types of steel MRF systems with fuses to explore the applicability for quantifying the damage-control behavior. The rationality of the proposed approach and the accuracy for identifying the damage-control behavior are demonstrated by nonlinear static analyses and incremental dynamic analyses utilizing prototype structures.
