  • Smart farm technology using IoT is one of the technologies that can increase productivity and improve the quality of agricultural products in agriculture, which is facing difficulties due to the decline in rural population, lack of rural manpower due to aging, and increase in diseases and pests due to climate change. . Smart farms using existing IoT simply monitor farms, implement smart plant growers, and have automatic greenhouse opening and closing systems. This paper implements a smart farm system based on MQTT, an industry standard protocol for the Internet of Things, and Node-RED, a representative development middleware for the Internet of Things. First, data is extracted from Arduino sensors, and data is collected and transmitted from IoT devices using the MQTT protocol. Then, Node-RED is used to process MQTT messages and store the sensing data in real time in MongoDB, a representative NoSQL, to store the data. Through this smart farm system, farm managers can use a computer or mobile phone to check sensing information on the smart farm in real time, anytime, anywhere, without restrictions on time and space.

  • This Paper presents the real time things control method through Web browser that has no limited by time and place. To design and realize the system that not only makes it possible to communicate with other protocols but also reinforces the advantages of each protocol, the real time communication environment, based on the WebSocket technology of HTML5 whose international standardization has recently been completed, is realized. Also, the message communication environment in the low electricity and limited communication environment is realized using MQTT(Message Queue Telemetry Transport) protocol which is in the spotlight as the optimum protocol in the IoT environment. And by designing intuitive and simple hardware and realizing the responsive web interface which is not limited by the user's contact devices, the interactive system in which the user receives real time data from the hardware and reversely the user controls the things is designed and realized.

  • With the growth of the IoT, security is a growing concern. Things the risk of IoT security has been constantly raised, and there have been many cases of hacking. As a result, there is a growing concern and scale about security, but there is a lack of interest and research on the message protocols between Iot devices. With the development of the IoT, the importance of low-power, lightweight and accurate message delivery will become more important and more advanced message protocols will be needed. In this paper, it is aimed to construct the system for communication between client and server of MQTT and CoAP with Confirmative option, which are most used among IoT message protocols and compare the message reliability of each communication protocol to check efficiency.

  • Recently, makers who do not have huge production equipments and who actually make products that they thought by utilizing digital production tools are emerging as new trends. As these makers shared how to make products, the 'maker movement', an open source manufacturing movement, spread. In the case of the domestic market, the maker movement is being activated through the government's policy support. However, compared to developed countries, there is not enough awareness and environment of maker culture, and only open platform hardware and software are used without specialized education / development equipment or kit for maker. Therefore, in this paper, we implement a MQTT protocol based Internet object maker kit for real service interworking rather than simple data connection through hardware connection.

  • IoT is becoming more and more popular, along with the massive availability of cheap and easy-to-use IoT devices. One protocol that is often used in IoT devices is the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol. By default, the MQTT protocol does not activate encrypted data security features. This MQTT default feature makes the transmitted and received message data vulnerable to attacks, such as eavesdropping. Therefore, this paper will design and implement encrypted data security using the lightweight cryptography algorithm. The focus of this paper will be on securing MQTT message data at the application layer. We propose a method for encrypting specific MQTT message fields while maintaining compatibility with the protocol's functionalities. The paper then analyzes the timing performance of the MQTT-LEA implementation on the Raspberry Pi 3+. Our findings demonstrate the feasibility of using LEA at the application layer to secure MQTT message communication on resource-constrained devices.

  • Raspberry Pi has been widely used for a hardware platform to develop the Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The basic task of diverse IoT devices is to obtain their status or environmental information by using various sensors and to send them to a gateway or a remote server. For the purpose, one of application layer protocols for IoT, MQTT is widely used. IoT devices are often powered by batteries and they are required to operate for a long time without replacing or recharging their batteries. Thus, energy efficiency is one of the most critical problems for obtaining and sending sensor data. To develop energy-efficient IoT applications, the information about power consumption characteristics of the applications is necessary. However, there has been little study to analyze power consumption of IoT communication on IoT devices. This paper presents a study to measure and analyze the power consumption of sending/receiving data under various conditions via the MQTT protocol on Raspberry Pi.

  • 현재 네트워크 시스템은 유선에서 무선으로 발전하면서 많은 업무가 모바일 기반의 업무로 변화되고 있다. 그 중 대표적인 것이 모바일 오피스 시스템으로 중요 구성요소 중 하나인 커뮤니케이션은 구성원간의 단문 메시지 서비스(SMS)이다. 그러나 최근 무선 환경의 발전으로 단문 메시지 전송 방식이 SMS에서 모바일 메신저로 변화하고 있으나 그에 대처하지 못한 시스템들이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 모바일 오피스 시스템에서 사용되고 있는 SMS를 대체하여 MQTT(Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) 프로토콜을 이용한 협업 메신저 시스템을 설계 및 구현한다.

  • MQTT(Message Queue Telemetry Transport) 는 IBM 에서 발표한 오픈 프로토콜이다. MQTT 는 메시지 전달의 신뢰성 보장을 위하여 3 단계의 QoS 를 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 실제 유/무선 네트워크 환경에서의 Publish 클라이언트에서 Broker 서버를 지나, Subscribe 클라이언트에 이르기까지 메시지 전달에 대하여 분석한다. 메시지는 MQTT 의 3 단계의 QoS 레벨과 페이로드 크기를 다양하게 전달하여 패킷을 캡쳐하고, 메시지에 대한 종단 간 지연과 메시지 손실에 대한 분석과 상관관계의 결과를 제시한다.

  • In this paper, we implemented a home IoT system based on MQTT protocol. In this system, data are collected from sensors in real time and transmitted to the server system. Based on collected data, home devices could be controlled automatically or manually. By using the MQTT protocol, we were able to see the data values of sensors collected in real time according to the topic setting. We implemented a system that automatically sets up home devices based on topic data, and it worked. The system is expected to be useful in applications that require monitoring and tracking of data in real time.

  • The IoT industry is growing at a record growth rate every year, but developers face practical problems such as security, data storage, and heterogeneity between devices before developing an IoT platform. In particular, heterogeneity between devices occurs due to network type and protocol, and device firmware must be changed or multiple IoT platforms must be used in some cases. In addition, data is wasted due to redundant sensing due to the overflow of indiscriminate IoT devices. In this paper, we propose a device-independent firmware design to solve the heterogeneity between devices in the IoT platform environment where Local WAS uses the MQTT protocol.
