Analysis of Series and/or Parallel Converter for V-I Output Characteristics of Solar Cell

  • Recently, photovoltaic system has been studied widely as a renewable energy system, because it does not produce environmental pollution and it has infinity energy source from the sun. A study on photovoltaic system has a lot of problems like as reappearance and repetition of some situation in the laboratory experiment for development of MPPT algorithm and islanding detection algorithm, because output characteristics of solar cell are varied by irradiation and surface temperature of solar cell. And this system is consisted a lot of solar cell unit. Therefore, the assistant equipment which emulates the solar cell characteristics which can be controlled arbitrarily by researcher is require to the researchers for reliable experimental data. In this paper, the virtual implement of solar cell (VISC) system is proposed to solve these problems and to achieve reliable experimental result on photovoltaic system. VISC system emulates the solar cell output characteristics, and this system can substitute solar cell in laboratory experiment system. To realize the VISC, mathematical model of solar cell is studied for driving converter and the DC/DC converters are compared in viewpoint of tracking error using computer simulation. And then analysis of parallel and series characteristics was done for combination of VISC model.

  • 본 논문에서는 태양광 발전시스템의 최대전력추종을 위해 퍼지 이론을 도입한 퍼지제어기를 설계하였다. 퍼지제어기의 디지털 설계를 위해 태양광 발전시스템의 각 부분을 구성하고, FPGA를 사용하여 제어기를 구현하였다. 구현된 제어기는 일사량의 변화에도 안정적으로 동작하며, 출력전압의 리플이 작은 결과를 보였다. 또한 FPGA의 퍼지제어기로서의 구현가능성을 발견하고 그 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • Advanced control algorithms must be used to make wind power generation truly cost effective and reliable. In this study, we develop a new and simple control scheme that employs model predictive control (MPC), which is used in permanent magnet synchronous generators and grid-connected inverters. The proposed control law is based on two points, namely, MPC-based torque-current control loop is used for the generator-side converter to reach the maximum power point of the wind turbine, and MPC-based direct power control loop is used for the grid-side converter to satisfy the grid code and help improve system stability. Moreover, a simple prediction scheme is developed for the direct-drive wind energy conversion system (WECS) to reduce the computation burden for real-time applications. A small-scale WECS laboratory prototype is built and evaluated to verify the validity of the developed control methods. Acceptable results are obtained from the real-time implementation of the proposed MPC methods for WECS.

  • PV model is presented based on the shockley diode equation. The simple model has a photo-current source, an single diode junction and a series resistance and includes temperature dependences. An accurate PV module electrical model is presented, matching with boost converter MPPT strategy and demonstrated in Matlab for a typical general purpose solar cell. Given solar insolation and temperature, the model returns current vector and MPP.

  • In PV power generation system study, huge system apparatuses are needed in order to verify the effect of system efficiency and stability considering the size of solar panels, the sort of converter types, and the load conditions and so on. And also, under the same weather and load conditions it is impossible to compare a certain MPPT control scheme to others. In this paper, in order to obtain effective solutions for the above mentioned topics, the solar cell array is simulated with it's VI characteristic equations, and the real field data of weather conditions is interfaced to EMTDC using Fortran program interface method. Consequently the simulation of PV power generation system using field data is realized in this paper, and acceptable results, which show close match between the real data of PV panel and the simulated data, were obtained.

  • 계통연계형 태양광발전 시스템을 구성하고 있는 전력변환 장치인 PCS(power conditioning system)은 성능, 효율, 가격, 그리고 보호 및 협조 문제에 따라 여러 가지 형태가 있다. 본 논문에서는 고주파 변압기를 이용한 컨버터에 대하여 제안한다. 이 시스템은 FB(full bridge) 컨버터, 고주파 변압기, 다이오드 정류기, DC link 필터, PWM 인버터 그리고 저역통과필터로 이루어져 있다. 고주파 변압기를 이용한 컨버터의 스위칭 주파수는 10kHz로 Uniploar PWM 방식을 이용하였고, 변압기의 2차단에 다이오드 정류기와 커패시터를 통하여 DC로 정류한다. 고주파 변압기를 이용한 컨버터의 제어는 전압형 전류제어로 MPPT 알고리즘에 의한 입력전류제어를 담당하고, DC link 전압의 제어는 Unipolar PWM 인버터에서 제어를 담당한다. 논문에서는 고주파 변압기를 이용한 FB Conveter의 제어 방법에 대하여 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증하고자 한다.

  • The photovoltaic generators have a nonlinear V-I characteristics and maximum power points which vary with the illumination levels and temperatures. Using maximum power point tracker with the intermediate converter can increase the system efficiency by matching the PV systems to the load. A novel MPPT control for photovoltaic system is proposed. The system input parameters are (dP, dI, and last incremental of duty ratio $L\deltaD$)and the output is the new incremental value (new ${\deltaD}$) according to the maximum power point under various illumination levels. Using fuzzy logic controller allows extracting the maximum power rapidly and without significant oscillations. Also FLC provides excellent features such as fast response, good performance and the ability to change the fuzzy parameters to improve control system.

  • The paper presents implementation of a PV fuzzy logic power tracking controller. Using maximum power point tracker with the intermediate converter can increase the system efficiency by matching the PV system to the load. A new fuzzy MPPT is proposed, where fuzzy inputs parameters are dp/dI and the last incremental of duty of duty ratio $L{\delta}D$, and the output is the new incremental value $(new{\delta}D)$ according to the maximum power point under various illumination levels.

  • This paper is proposed the vector control of 3-phase induction motor drive system by photovoltaic generation. For performance of vector control using a current control voltage source inverter(CC-VSI). CC-VSI is controlled by torque and flux producing component of motor current, relating with current and voltage value of photovoltaic arrays at maximum power point that varies follow different level of insolation. The MPPT using a DC-DC converter controlled the duty cycle to track maximum power from PV under different insolation conditions. The simulation results are shown that the characteristics and performance of drive system, which varies as each conditions of light by expresses in voltage($V_{dq}$), current($I_{dq}$), speed of motor and torque.
