MB-OFDM (Multiband-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) UWB (ultra wide band) system uses DCM (dual carrier modulation) scheme to achieve high-data rate transmission. The basic idea of DCM is that to transmit the 4 bits more reliably two 16-QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) symbols are used and the two 16-QAM sysmbols are allocated to each subcarrier of OFDM with maximum-distance. In the case of using the DCM, if one 16-QAM symbol is broken by deep fadding channel, a receiver can detect the transmitted signal by using another 16-QAM symbol. In the conventional ML(maximum likelihood) decision scheme, since the receiver does not use the CSI (channel state information), loss in diversity can not be reduced. In this paper, we propose improved soft-decision scheme with CSI for higher performance of MB-OFDM UWB systemn.

This paper demonstrates a microfluidic electrochemical sensor for detecting endocrine disruptor such as estradiol at a very low concentration by using preconcentration technique. In addition, self-assembled monolayer(SAM) was also employed on the working electrode of the electrochemical sensor in order to increase the estradiol capture efficiency of the sensor. SAM treatment on the working electrode enhanced the specific binding between the surface of the working electrode and the estradiol antibody. The estradiol antibody was applied on the working electrode at different concentrations(10, 20, 50, 100, 200 pg/ml) for observing the concentration dependency. The measured electrochemical redox current changed with the amount of the bound estradiol on the Au working electrode surface and the sensor can detect all the target material when the immobilized antibody amount is more than the estradiol amount in the water. The elecrochemical estradiol sensor without SAM treatment showed a low current of 7.79 nA, while the sensor treated with SAM resulted in 339 nA at 200 pg/ml, which is more than 40 fold higher output current. When combining the preconcentration technique and the SAM-treated electrode, the measured current became more than 100 fold higher than that of the sensor without neither SAM treatment nor preconcentration technique. The combination of these two techniques can would enable the proposed microfluidic electrochemical sensor to detect a very low concentration endocrine disruptor.
Nosema bombycis was found on the both of surface and inside of silkworm eggs layed by infected female moth, maternal-mediated transmission of those pathogens via the surface or internal site of silkworm eggs were investigated. All of the meconia from infected female moths contained pathogenic spores, those concentration were 4.6(${\pm}$0.24)X106 /ml. The pathogens on the surface of nondiapause eggs were transmitted to the progeny larvae at the rate of 54.5%, however, lost their activity before hatching for the case of overwintered eggs or acid treatment(16% HCI at 46.2$^{\circ}C$ for 6 min). N. bombycis in the silkworm eggs localized at the serosa, yolk, embryo except chorion tissue in the silkworm eggs layed by infected female moths. Development of the pathognes in the eggs was synchronized with embryogenesis, which secured the safety of pathogens against environmental condition, resulting in the high transmissibility of 91.2${\pm}$1.80%.
Major saponins in ginseng were analysed using reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography with binary mobile phase gradient control system instead of normal phase column. The optimum condition were as following : reverse phase column; ${\mu}{\beta}ondapak\;C_{18}$ column (Waters, $3.9mm{\times}300\;mm,\;5{\mu}m$), methyl cyanaide/water binary mobile phase gradient control system, solvent flow rate; 1.5 ml/min, and UV($203{\mu}m$ ) detector. The complete separation of ginsenoside $Rb_1,\;Rb_2,\;Rc,\;Rd,\;Re,\;Rf\;and\;Rg_1$ was achieved within 55 min. The Regression coefficients of the calibration curves for seven ginsenosides were 0.99.
This study was carried out to elucidate the preliminary ecosystem of the heterotrophic bacterial flora in Kunsan Bay located in western costal area of Korea. Samples were collected at 5 sampling stations. Among 123 bacterial isolates, 9 genera of bacteria were appeared as follows; Vibrio spp.(44 isolates/35.7%), Pseudomonas spp.(42 isolates/34.1%), Aeromonas spp.(11 isolates/8.9%), Moraxella spp.(9 isolates/7.3%), Enterobacteria spp.(6 isolates/4.8%), Bordetella spp.(3 isolates/2.4%), Alkaligenesis spp.(3 isolates/2.4%), Flavobacterium spp.(2 isolates/1.6%), and Staphylococcus spp.(3 isolates/2.4%) respectively. Total viable heterotrophic bacteria was ranged from $5{\times}10^3$ to $1{\times}10^5$ CFU/ml and the most abundant viable counts of bacterial population were showed at the stations 2 and 3. This result indicates that the coastal area around Kunsan bay is getting to contaminate far more by municipal wastewaters and industrial byproducts. and so the outbreak of the bacterial diseases will be increased in fish farms.
A cecostomy technique (surgery for inserted tube into ceca) was developed to quantify urine backflow into the ceca of fed and feed-deprived chickens. Two days post-surgery, cecostomised chickens were flushed with 20ml of warm saline solution every other day for 10 days. Excreta were collected daily from cecal tubing and cloaca by surgical attachment of polyethylene collection vessels to the chickens. Uric acid excretion was significantly increased in fed compared to feed-deprived chickens (P<0.05). Amount of determined uric acid from the ceca was 7.74% and 5.31% of total excretion for fed and ffeed-deprived chickens, respectively. Post-mortem examinations ascertained that the caeca were intact around the Latex tubing. The results of the study indicated that at least 5% of daily urine production flow retrograde into the ceca of roosters.
The study on the bacterial distribution was performed to evaluate the bacteriological safety in 4 deep confined aquifers drilled for drinking. All the investigated aquifers were oligotrophic, howevec bacterial densities and activities and the number of indicator bacteria in C-2 boreholes were much higher than those in other boreholes. Fecal pollution was observed in 3 boreholcs except C-1 borehole. The ratio of gram positive bacteria of the C-2 borehole was much lower than those 01 another boreholes. The numbers of total colifonns, fecal coliforms, and fecal Slreptococcus in the C-2 boreholes were 61, 33, 55 CFU (250 ml)$^{-1}$
This paper presents the fabrication of a micro electromagnetic flow sensor for the liquid flow rate measurement. The micro electromagnetic flow sensor has some advantages such as a simple structure, no heat generation, a rapid response and no pressure loss. The principle of the micro electromagnetic flow sensor is based on Faraday's law. If conductive fluid passes through a magnetic field, the electromotive force is generated and detected by two electrodes on the wall of the flow channel. The flow sensor consists of two permanent magnets and a silicon flow channel with two electrodes. The dimension of the flow sensor is $9\;mm\;{\times}\;9\;mm\;{\times}\;1\;mm$. The micro flow channel is mainly fabricated by anisotropic etching of two silicon wafers, and the detection electrodes are fabricated by metal evaporation process. The characteristic of the fabricated flow sensor is obtained experimentally. When the flow rates of water with the conductance of $100-200\;{\mu}S/cm$ are 9.1 ml/min and 62 ml/min, the generated electromotive forces are $261\;{\mu}V$ and 7.3 mV, respectively.

Coagglutination method is widely used for the diagnosis of Salmonella infection. This test, however, has a disadvantage of false positive reaction due to the coagglutination of staphylococci with non-specific immune complexes or anti-staphylococci antibody in serum. Salmonell O antigen was detected by enzyme immunoassay with protein A-bearing Staphylococcus aureus as in the solid phase. Horse radish peroxidase was labeled to IgG specific against Salmonella O antigen. This enzyme immunoassay was much more sensitive than conventional coagglutination method without false poitive agglutination. To improve the sensitivity for detection of Salmonella O antigen in samples, we tried to determine the optimal concentration of normal IgG that inhibits non-specific binding of horse radish peroxidase labeled IgG to staphylococci, and to establish the optimal condition of reaction between antigen-antibody complex and staphylococci. Non-specific binding of horse radish peroxidase labeled specific IgG to staphylococci was almost blocked when the enzyme labeled IgG was 500-fold diluted with phosphate buffered saline containing 2mg/ml of normal IgG. When staphylococci coated with antibody to Salmonella O antigen were mixed with antigen-antibody complex and then incubated for 1 hour at room temperature, the minimal detectable concentration of Salmonella O antigen was 1ng/ml. The sensitivity of enzyme immunoassay was 100-fold greater than a conventional coagglutination method. This enzyme immunoassay could be expected as an improved method for detection of other infectious agents.

This paper introduces a new efficient design scheme for spatial multiplexing (SM) systems over closed loop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless channels. Extending the orthogonalized spatial multiplexing (OSM) scheme which was developed recently for transmitting two data streams, we propose a new SM scheme where a larger number of data streams can be supported. To achieve this goal, we partition the data streams into several subblocks and execute the block-diagonalization process at the receiver. The proposed scheme still guarantees single-symbol maximum likelihood (ML) detection with small feedback information. Simulation results verify that the proposed scheme achieves a huge performance gain at a bit error rate (BER) of $10^{-4}$ over conventional closed-loop schemes based on minimum mean-square error (MSE) or bit error rate (BER) criterion. We also show that an additional 2.5dB gain can be obtained by optimizing the group selection with extra feedback information.
