In order to analyze the heat transfer phenomena in the plasma flames, a mathematical model describing heat and fluid How in an electric arc has been developed and used to predict heat transfer from the arc to the steel bath in a DC Electric Arc Furnace. The arc model takes the separate contributions to the heat transfer from each involved mechanism into account, i.e. radiation, convection and energy transported by electrons. The finite volume method and a SIMPLE algorithm are used for solving the governing MHD equations, i.e., conservation equations of mass, momentum, and energy together with the equations describing a standard $k-\varepsilon$ model for turbulence. The model predicts heat transfer for different currents and arc lengths. Finally these calculation results can be used as a useful insight into plasma phenomena of the industrial-scale electric arc furnace. from these results, it can be concluded that higher arc current and longer arc length give high heat transfer.
The effect of the electromagnetic force (or Lorentz force) on the flow behavior around a circular cylinder is investigated by computation. Two-dimensional unsteady flow computation for Re=10$^2$is carried out using a numerical method of finite difference approximation in a curvilinear body-fitted coordinate system by solving the momentum equations including the Lorentz force as a body force. The effect of spatial variations of the Lorentz forcing region and forcing direction along the cylinder circumference is investigated. The numerical results show that the Lorentz force can effectively suppress the flow separation and oscillation of the lift force of circular cylinder cross-flow, leading to reduction of drag.
Most of silicone used for water repellent finish is MHP (methyl hydrodiene polysiloxane), which is formed by hydrolysis and condensation polymerization of MHD (methyl hydrodiene dichlorosilane: Me H Si $Cl_2$). The cross-linking theory explains the water repellent mechanism of MHP. The silicone finish on fiber could improve in handle, softness, abrasion resistance, soil repellency, tear strength and crease resistance, as well as water repellency. According to using method silicone-water repellent finishing agents, could be devided into air dry type and curing type. MHP is the typical curing type of water repellent finishing agent, and this type requires the curing temperature above $150^{\circ}C$ at least. High curing temperature is the very drawback of this curing type. For this reason, there has been global interest in the lowering of its temperature. The objective of this study is to investigate merits of alkali treatment for silicone finishing by ANOVA and LSD (least significant difference).
We perform seismological diagnostics of the physical parameters in umbral photospheres and G-band bright points. The technique is based on the theory of slow magneto-acoustic waves in a non-isothermally stratified photosphere with uniform vertical magnetic fields. For the seismology of sunspot umbrae, we calculate the weighted frequency of three-minute oscillations observed by SDO/HMI continuum and use it to estimate the Alfvn speed and plasma-beta, which range 7.5-10.5 km/s and 0.65-1.15, respectively. We identify and track bright points in the G-band movie by using a 3D region growing method. Then we apply the seismological diagnostics to the bright points in the Hinode/BFI Blue continuum. We will present the Alfvn speed and plasma-beta in the bright points.

The steady hydromagnetic flow of an electrically conducting non-Newtonian fluid due to the rotation of an infinite disk is studied with heat transfer with the inclusion of the ion slip as well as Ohmic heating. The governing nonlinear momentum equations and energy equations are solved using the finite difference method. The numerical results indicate the important effect of the ion slip and the non-Newtonian fluid characteristics on the velocity and temperature distributions.
In order to more closely examine the vacuum arc phenomena, it is necessary to predict the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) characteristics by the multidisciplinary numerical modeling, which is coupled with the electromagnetic and hydrodynamic fields, simultaneously. In this study, the thermal-fluid characteristics of high current vacuum arcs were calculated by a commercial multiphysics package, ANSYS, in order to obtain Joule heat, Lorentz force and the interactions with flow variables. We assumed the diffused-mode arc within an AMF vacuum interrupter. It was found with four different currents that the temperature distributions on the anode surface are diffused uniformly without concentration in 7kA for both types (cup and coil-type). But the arc plasma transition and an increase of thermal flux density for increasing the applied current have caused the change of temperature distributions on the anode surface. We should need further studies on the two-way coupling method and radiation model for arc plasmas in order to accomplish the advanced analysis method for multiphysics.

We propose a novel method of selecting key VOPs from MPEG-4 compressed domain without fully decoding the compressed data. Approximated shapes of VOPs are obtained from the shape coding mode and then VOPs are clustered by shape similarity to generate key VOPs. The proposed method reduces the computation time of shape approximation, compared with Erol's method. Nevertheless, the resulting VOPs have a good summarizing capability of a video sequence. NMHD (normalized mean Hausdorff distance) values are 2-means clustered to generate key VOPs. In the video search, the MHD of a query VOP from key VOPs are computed and the VOP with the lowest distance is returned. Tests on standard MPEG-4 test sequences show that the computational complexity is very low. Recursive clustering proved to be very effective for generating suitable key VOPs.
The vacuum interrupter (VI) is widely used in medium-voltage switching circuits due to its abilities and advantages as an environmental friendly circuit breaker. An understanding of the vacuum arc flow phenomena is very important for improving the performance of vacuum interrupter. In order to closely examine the vacuum arc phenomena, it is necessary to predict the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) characteristics by the multidisciplinary numerical modeling, which is coupled with the electromagnetic and the thermal flow fields, simultaneously. In this study, we have investigated arc plasma constriction phenomena and an effect of AMF on the arc plasma with the high-current vacuum arcs for the cup-type AMF electrode by using a commercial finite element analysis (FEA) package, ANSYS. The simulation results applied with various AMFs and constant Joule heat generation show that strong axial magnetic field (AMF) permits the arc to be maintained in a diffused mode to a high-current vacuum arc. However, further studies are required on the two-way coupling method and radiation model for arc plasma in order to accomplish the advanced analysis method.

Analyses of the viscous and end effects on electromagnetic (EM) pumps of annular linear induction type for the sodium coolant circulation in Liquid Metal Fast Breeder Reactors have been carried out based on the MHD laminar flow analysis and the electromagnetic field theory. A one-dimensional MHD analysis for the liquid metal flowing through an annular channel has been performed on the basis of a simplified model of equivalent current sheets instead of three-phase currents in the discrete primary windings. The calculations show that the developed pressure difference resulted from electromagnetic and viscous forces in the liquid metal is expressed in terms of the slip, and that the viscous loss effects are negligible compared with electromagnetic driving forces except in the low-slip region where the pumps operate with very high flow velocities comparable with the synchronous velocity of the electromagnetic fields, which is not applicable to the practical EM pumps. A two-dimensional electromagnetic field analysis based on an equivalent current sheet model has found the vector potentials in closed form by means of the Fourier transform method. The resultant magnetic fields and driving forces exerted on the liquid metal reveal that the end effects due to finiteness of the pump length are formidable. In addition, a two-dimensional numerical analysis for vector potentials has been performed by the SOR iterative method on a realistic EM pump model with discretely-distributed currents in the primary windings. The numerical computations for the distributions of magnetic fields and developed pressure differences along the pump axial length also show considerable end effects at both inlet and outlet ends, especially at high flow velocities. Calculations of each magnetic force contribution indicate that the end effects are originated from the magnetic force caused by the induced current ( u x B ) generated by the liquid metal movement across the magnetic field rather than the one (E) produced by externally applied magnetic fields by three-phase winding currents. It is concluded that since the influences of the end effects in addition to viscous losses are extensive particularly in high-velocity operations of the EM pumps, it is necessary to find ways to suppress them, such as proper selection of the pump parameters and compensation of the end effects.
In this article, entropy generation on MHD Williamson nanofluid over a porous shrinking sheet has been analyzed. Nonlinear thermal radiation and chemical reaction effects are also taken into account with the help of energy and concentration equation. The fluid is electrically conducting by an external applied magnetic field while the induced magnetic field is assumed to be negligible due to small magnetic Reynolds number. The governing equations are first converted into the dimensionless expression with the help of similarity transformation variables. The solution of the highly nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equation has been obtained with the combination of Successive linearization method (SLM) and Chebyshev spectral collocation method. Influence of all the emerging parameters on entropy profile, temperature profile and concentration profile are plotted and discussed. Nusselt number and Sherwood number are also computed and analyzed. It is observed that entropy profile increases for all the physical parameters. Moreover, it is found that when the fluid depicts non-Newtonian (Williamson fluid) behavior then it causes reduction in the velocity of fluid, however, non-Newtonian behavior enhances the temperature and nanoparticle concentration profile.
