Accurate household projections are essential for sectors such as housing supply and tax policy planning, given the rapid social changes like declining birthrates, an aging population, and a rise in single-person households that impact household size and type. Korea introduced its first register-based census in 2015, transitioning from five-year general survey-based approach to an annual administrative data-based census. This change in census allows for more frequent and effective capturing the rapid demographic shifts and trends. However, this change in census has caused challenges in future projection by the existing household projection model due to the rapid dynamics. This paper proposes a new household projection method, the N-point Modified Exponential Model (MEM), that accurately reflects register-based census data and mitigates the impact of rapid demographic changes, in three types: the Weighted N-point MEM, the Regression-based N-point MEM, and the Rolling Weighted N+point MEM. Using register-based census data from 2016 to 2020 to forecast household headship rates by age, household size, and household type to 2051, the N-point modified exponential model outperformed the existing model in both long- and short-term forecast accuracy, suggesting its suitability as a future household projection model for Korea.

Fetal bovine serum (FBS) is essential for cell culture and is used in the determination of infectivity titer and propagation of viruses. To clarify the effects of FBS on the propagation of viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV), which is a causative agent of mass mortalities of olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus in Korea, VHSV was inoculated into an EPC (epithelioma papulosum cyprinid) cell line supplemented with MEMs (minimal essential medium) with FBS concentrations of 0%, 2%, 5%, and 10% (MEM0, MEM2, MEM5, and MEM10), respectively, and infectivity titers were compared. Cytopathic effects were observed in all experimental groups at 2 days post virus inoculation (dpi) and all cells were detached from cell culture flasks at 7 dpi. Infectivity titers increased to 3 dpi, persisted to 7 dpi, and decreased when cells were detached. The titer of VHSV in EPC cells in MEM0 was the lowest while those in the other experimental groups showed similar levels. In conclusion, 2% (v/v) of FBS was sufficient to propagate VHSV in EPC cells and the withdrawal of VHSV from cell culture flasks should be performed before cell detachment.
Although embryonic stem cells (ESCs) or ES-like cells are reported from many mammalian species other than the mouse, the culture system for murine ESCs may not be suitable to the other species. Previously many other research groups have modified either human or mouse ESC culture systems for bovine ESC culture. In this study, we compared three different culture mediums consisting of DMEM, ${\alpha}$-MEM or KnockOut$^{TM}$-DMEM (KO), which are modified from human or mouse ESC culture system, for the generation of bovine ESCs. In this study, some pre-requisite events which are important for establishment and long-term propagation of ESCs such as inner cell mass (ICM) attachment on feeder cells, primary colony formation and sustainability after passaging. Once the ICM clumps attached on feeder cells, this was designated as passage 0. In regards to the rate of ICM attachment, ${\alpha}$-MEM was superior to the other systems. For primary colony formation, there was no difference between DMEM and ${\alpha}$-MEM whereas KO showed lower formation rate than the other groups. For passaging, the colonies were split into 2~4 pieces and passed every 5~6 days. From passage 1 to passage 3, DMEM system seemed to be appropriate for maintaining putative bovine ESCs. On the other hand, ${\alpha}$-MEM tended to be more suitable after passage 6. Although ${\alpha}$-MEM support to maintain a ES-like cell progenies to passage 15, all three culture systems which are modified from human or mouse ESC culture media failed to retain the propagation and long-term culture of putative bovine ESCs. Our findings imply that more optimized alternative culture system is required for establishing bovine ESC lines.
These experiments were conducted to investigate the effects and optimal concentrations of RPMI 1640 amino acids, MEM vitamins and human follicular fluid(hFF) as additives in the medium for in vitro culture of mouse embryos. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The development rates of blastocyst stage were 54.5%, 65.4%, 48.2%, 57.4% and 35.5% when the medium was added to 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, 2% of RPMI 1640 amino acid and control, respectively. The addition of 0.5% RPMI 1640 amino acid was the best concentration. 2. The development rates of blastocyst stage were 22.4%, 31.3%, 21.9%, 19.0% adn 12.8% when the medium was added to 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, 2% of MEM vitamin and control, respectively. The addition of 0.5% MEM vitamin was the best concentration. 3. The development rates of blastocyst stage were 20.9%, 21.9%, 18.9%, 29.4% and 20.6% when the medium was added to 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 20% of hFF and control, respectively.

Electrostatic spray pyrolysis, a novel fabrication technique, has been used in this study to prepare calcium phosphate nano powders. Final annealing was done at $400^{\circ}C$ for 30min in air. The hydroxyapatite - forming ability of the annealed powder has been evaluated in Eagle's minimum essential medium solution (MEM). X-ray diffraction analysis, field emission - scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscope were used to characterized the annealed powders after immersion in MEM. The powder with an amorphous structure induced hydroxyapatite formation on their surfaces after immersion fer 15 days.
This study was conducted to evaluate the nuclear development of preantral follicle oocytes in dog following collecting from different estrus ovaries and oocyte diameter. To do this, ovaries were collected from Sunchon livestock station by ovarioectomy and then transported to laboratory in 3$0^{\circ}C$ saline within 2 h. All of the ovaries were washed three times with saline supplemented with 100 IU Penicillin and 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ Streptomycin and then sliced with blade in 100 mm dish. All of the oocytes collected were classified the oocyte size such as over 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ or under 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and the estrus status. To induce the nuclear development, oocytes were cultured in TCM199 $\alpha$-MEM supplemented with 10% FCS, 0.1 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ sodium pyruvate, 100 ng/$m\ell$ FSH, 100 ng/$m\ell$ EGF, 1% ITS, 100 IU/$m\ell$ penicillin, 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ streptomycin at 38.5$^{\circ}C$, 5% $CO_2$ incubator for 72 h. After culture, all of the oocytes were stained in 1% orcein following fixed in 45% Acetic acid for 48 h. The oocyte recovery rates of over 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ from estrus ovary (63.6%) were significantly higher rather than that in anestrus status (51.5%). Oocyte recovery rate per ovary of over 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in estrus status ovary (22.6/63.8%) was also significantly higher rather than that in anestrus status ovary (8.2/51.6%). Nuclear development to MI of over 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in estrus ovary (24.3%) was significantly higher rather than those in under 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ or over and under 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in anestrus (2.5, 6.8 and 0.0%), respectively (P < 0.05). Nuclear development to AT and MII of over 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in estrus was more developed in other groups. Nuclear development to MI in TCM199 (21.8%) was significantly higher than in $\alpha$-MEM (10.0%). Altho $\mu\textrm{g}$h the development rate to AT was significantly different between TCM199 (7.3%) and $\alpha$-MEM (1.1%), but to MII was not different between TCM199 (0.9%) and $\alpha$-MEM (1.1%). The results indicated that over 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ oocytes was could be recovery from estrus status ovary, bigger oocytes were more developed to MI, AT or MII in TCM199.
Metabolizable energy requirements for maintenance (MEm) of Hanwoo bulls were estimated in twelves metabolism trials using three different feeds at four stages of body weight(100, 200, 300 and 400kg). Three feeds were composed of 1) concentrates and rice straw, 2) concentrates and mixed grass hay, 3) concentrates and corn silage, respectively. Three energy levels were 1) maintenance (M) requirement, 2) 1.5 ${\times}$ M, and 3) 2.0 ${\times}$ M. All bulls were received 60% of their energy from concentrates and 40% form roughages. Three cattle for each trials fed different energy level were housed in metabolism stalls during the 5days of collection period, a total collection of feces and urine. Thereafter, during the 2days of respiration period the heat production was measured by indirect calorimetry using respiratory chamber. MEm were 99.80, 94.48, 94.80, and 97.68 kcal/W0.75 at 100, 200, 300 and 400kg. Mean value of MEm and efficiency of utilization ME for retained energy(Kg) were 95.80 kcal/W0.75 and 0.44.

Polynomial measurement error model(MEM) with one predictor is considered. It is briefly mentioned that Chan and Mak's generalized least squares estimator(GLSE) can be derived more easily if Hermite polynomial concept is applied. It is proved that GLSE derived using new procedure is equivalent to the estimator obtained from corrected score function. Finally, much simpler proof of the asymptotic behavior of GLSE than that of Chan and Mak is provided. Much simpler formula of asymptotic covariance matrix of GLSE is a part of that proof.
