Diagnosis of bovine virus diarrhea-mucosal disease in breeding Holstein cows with diarrhea and vesicles (설사 및 수포발생 육성유우에서 바이러스성 설사.점막병의 진단)

  • The purpose of this study was to establish early diagnosis for bovine virus diarrhea-mucosal disease(BVD-MD) Two Holstein among 22 breeding cows were shown ulcer in the mouth and watery diarrhea. Diarrheal feces and ulcerous lesion of the mouth from 2 cows were sampled for detection of viral antigen. BVD virus was isolated by inoculation of the samples to MDBK cells, and the cytopathic effects were observed in cultured MDBK cells which inoculated with virus isolates from the feces. Viral antigens were detected in the feces and ulceruous lesion by immunogold staining. The serum neutralization titers were shown 1 : 64 or greater in 8 blood samples by using BVD virus (NADL strain). By the RT-PCR, using reverse primer 5'-ACTCCATGTGCCATGTACAG-3', forward primer 5'-ACTCCATGTGCCATGTACAG-3', 285 base pair band specific to BVD virus was detected. In conclusions, the results of above tests which executed using the diarrheal feces and ulcerous lesion of the mouth and the isolates were conformed as BVD virus.

  • The method measuring LEP (liquid entry pressure) was optimized to evaluate the wettabilities of hydrophobic membranes which might affect long-term durability of membrane in MD (membrane distillation) process. Conductivity of the permeate was monitored to measure the LEPs of PE (polyethylene) and PVDF (polyvinylidene di-fluoride) hollow fiber membranes from highly concentrated synthetic feed water of 20 wt% NaCl. Holding time over 5 min and the ratio of membrane area to the tank volume more than $10m^2/m^3$ were required to ensure LEP value.

Application of Ultrasonography to Investigate Postpartum Anestrus in Water Buffaloes

  • Anestrus is one of the most important production limiting disorders in dairy buffaloes and its underlying causes have been a current topic of studies. The objectives of this study were to explore the causes of anestrus in buffaloes with the application of ultrasonography. Two examinations were performed by transrectal ultrasonography at 12 days apart in buffalo cows that were not seen in oestrus at 60 or more days postpartum. As high as 54.5% buffaloes had silent ovulation and 45.5% suffered from the true anestrus with ovarian dysfunction. The duration of anestrus after calving was 60~90, 91~120, 121~180 and 181~365 days in 27%, 32%, 18% and 23% buffalo cows, respectively. Treatment with prostaglandin of cyclic buffalo cows with a corpus luteum (72.7%) resulted in higher estrous rate as compared with close observation of estrus (23.1%) by the farmer (p=0.021). Acyclic buffalo cows without any corpus luteum on ovaries were successfully treated with gonadotropin releasing hormone (70%), resulting in higher estrous detection rate than those treated with a vitamin-mineral mixture (20%) (p=0.035). In conclusion, poor heat detection due to silent ovulation is the most important cause of apparent anoestrus in buffaloes; however the percentage of the true anestrous is also quite high in postpartum buffaloes.

  • In this study, we have investigated potential energy of ${\beta}$-D-glucopyranose in vacuum and implicit water condition. By Comparing two conditions we find that how solvation energy influence ${\beta}$-D-glucopyranose structure. We use AMBER package program and GLYCAM_06 force field. Solvation model was used for the generalized Born model with Hawkins, Cramer, Truhlar has been proposed. We conclude that difference of contour map of two conditions is caused by solvation effect by reducing hydrogen bonding interaction.

  • Membrane distillation (MD), which can utilize low-grade thermal energy, has been extensively studied for desalination. By incorporating solar thermal energy, the solar membrane distillation desalination system (SMDDS) is a potential technology for resolving the energy and water resource problems. Small-scale SMDDS (s-SMDDS) is an attractive and viable option for the production of fresh water for small communities in remote arid areas. The minimum-cost design and operation of s-SMDDS are determined by a systematic method, which involves a pseudo steady state approach for equipment sizing and the dynamic optimization using overall system mathematical models. The s-SMDDS employing three MD configurations, including the air gap (AGMD), direct contact (DCMD) and vacuum (VMD) types, are optimized. The membrane area of each system is $11.5m^2$. The AGMD system operated for 500 kg/day water production rate gives the lowest unit cost of $5.92/m^3$. The performance ratio and recovery ratio are 0.85 and 4.07%, respectively. For the commercial membrane employed in this study, the increase of membrane mass transfer coefficient up to two times is beneficial for cost reduction and the reduction of membrane heat transfer coefficient only affects the cost of the DCMD system.

  • In this paper, a new fragile watermarking algorithm for digital image is presented, which makes resolving the security and forgery problem of the digital image to be possible. The most suitable watermarking method that verifies the authentication and integrity of the digital image is the Wong's method, which invokes the hash function (MD5). The algorithm is safe because this method uses the hash function of the cryptology. The operations such as modulus, complement, shift, bitwise exclusive-or, bitwise inclusive-or are necessary for calculating the value of hash function. But, in this paper, an Arithmetic encoding method that only includes the multiplication operation is adopted. This technique prints out accumulative probability interval, which is obtained by multiplying the input symbol probability interval. In this paper, the initial probability interval is determined according to the value of the key, and the input sequence of the symbols is adjusted according to the key value so that the accumulative probability interval will depend on the key value. The integrity of the algorithm has been verified by experiment. The PSNR is above the 51.13db and the verifying time is $1/3{\sim}1/4$ of the verifying time of using the hash function (MD5), so, it can be used in the real-time system.

  • iATA(Internet Advanced Technology Attachment)는 TCP/IP 네트워크를 통해 원격의 대용량의 가상 저장 공간을 자신의 로컬 디스크 처럼 활용이 가능하게 하는 기술로 이는 모바일 기기(PDA, 휴대폰 등)와 같은 저장 공간의 부족문제를 가지고 있는 장치에 적용하여 저장 공간의 부족 문제를 근본적으로 해결할 수 있는 솔루션이라 할 수 있다. iATA는 SCSI 하드디스크가 장착된 시스템에서만 서버를 구축해야만 하는 iSCSI와는 달리 일반 가정이나 사무실에서 주로 사용하는 ATA 하드 디스크에도 서버 구축이 가능한 확장성을 가지고 있으며 이는 iATA의 최대 장점 중 하나라 할 수 있다. 또한, Web 사이트를 통해 많은 사람들이 iATA 서비스를 이용하여 자신의 모바일 기기에서의 저장공간 문제를 극복할 수 있으며, 최근 사회 문제로 크게 대두되고 있는 개인 정보 유출의 폐해를 막기 위해 개인 인증시 OpenSSL과 MD5를 이용한 보안/암호화 기법을 사용하여 개인 정보 유출에 의한 불이익 및 개인 정보 악용으로 인한 범죄를 막을 수 있다. 하지만, 기존의 iATA상에서는 디스크 관리가 서버에서만 가능하다는 문제점이 있다. 즉, 사용자만의 개인공간을 가질 수가 없다. 이처럼 개인 사진이나, 다이어리같은 정보들을 관리 할 수 없는 문제점을 해결하기 위해 클라이언트에서 자신만의 디스크 공간을 가질 수 있게 파티션을 할당해주고, 그 공간을 클라이언트만의 공간으로 만들어 주는 기술을 개발하는데 그 목적이 있다.

Adaptation of New Institutional Theory in Shariah Governance Practice, Structure and Process

  • Purpose: The study aims to delineate Shariah Governance Framework (SGF) by applying the components of New Institutional Theory (NIT) to provide an understanding of how Islamic banks theoretically influence Shariah Governance (SG) practice, structure, and process. Design/methodology/approach: As it is a conceptual paper, this paper has prepared based on an analytical approach to show how such institutions could provide a more effective system concerning the contents, procedures, and practices for the multiple users in the SG process of Islamic banks. Findings: The paper critically explores the adoption of NIT to develop SGF with its existing practice, structure, and procedure. Utilizing NIT, a proposed theoretical framework has developed for exploring the SG through its major components, i.e., 'isomorphism' and 'legitimacy'. It is stated that NIT can offer a useful framework by which homogenous structures, comprising guidelines, standards, and practices become recognized and authorized as a satisfactory standard corporate exercise. Thus, the proposed theoretical framework would be beneficial in understanding and exploring the SGF. Conclusion: The application of this SGF could help to justify the key dimensions of NIT with its overall formation, function, and practices that might also help to attain legitimacy.

A Key Recovery Attack on HMAC using Fault Injection Attack (오류 주입 공격을 이용한 HMAC에 대한 키 복구 공격)

  • At FDTC'05 and CISC-W'10, the authors showed that if they decrease the number of rounds of AES and Triple-DES by using the fault injections, it is possible to recover the secret key of the target algorithms, respectively. In this paper, we propose a key recovery attack on HMAC by using the main idea of these attacks. This attack is applicable to HMAC based on MD-family hash functions and can recover the secret key with the negligible computational complexity. Particularly, the attack result on HMAC-SHA-2 is the first known key recovery attack result on this algorithm.

Mapping Technique for Heavy Snowfall Distribution Using Terra MODIS Images and Ground Measured Snowfall Data (Terra MODIS 영상과 지상 적설심 자료를 이용한 적설분포도 구축기법 연구)

  • This study is to make snowfall distribution map for the 4 heavy snowfall events of January 2001, March of 2004, December of 2005 and January of 2010, and compare the results for three cases of construction methods. The cases are to generate the map by applying IDW(Inverse Distance Weighting) interpolation to 76 ground measured snowfall point data (Snow Depth Map; SDM), mask out the SDM with the MODIS snow cover area (MODIS SCA) of Terra MODIS (MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) (SDM+MODIS SCA; SDM_M), and consider the snowdepth lapse rate of snowfall by elevation (Digital Elevation Model; DEM) to the second case (SDM_M+DEM; SDM_MD). By applying the MODIS SCA, the SCA of 4 events was 62.9%, 44.1%, 52.0%, and 69.0% for the area of South Korea. For the average snow depth, the SDM_M decreased 0.9cm, 1.9cm, 0.8cm, and 1.5cm compared to SDM and the SDM_MD increased 1.3cm, 0.9cm, 0.4cm, and 1.2cm respectively.
