A Method for Extracting Shape and Position of an Object using Partial M-array

  • This paper describes a new method for object extraction necessary for image tracking systems. The extraction method which this paper proposes here is that an M-array is set between a camera and the object and the obtained image including the object and M-array is pro-cessed for extracting the object. The image processing utilizes a characteristic of M-array which is robust to noise. When an M-array is overlapped on the object in background image, the object woud have a part of M-array, which is detected by use of partial correlation between the mosaic image of M-array and the standard M-array. Thus the shape and position of the object are extracted by extracting a common domain of width of high correlation value. Experiments are carried out by using an actual photo of Kumamoto city taken from an airplane as background, and by use of a rectangular and circular object. The results of experiment show a wide application of this method for practical image tracking systems.

$GF(2^m)$ 상의 산술연산기시스템 구성 이론 (A Construction Theory of Arithmetic Operation Unit Systems over $GF(2^m)$)

  • This paper presents a method of constructing an Arithmetic Operation Unit Systems (A.O.U.S.) over Galois Field GF(2**m) for the purpose of the four arithmetical operation(addition, subtraction, multiplication and division between two elements in GF(2**mm). The proposed A.O.U.S. is constructed by following procedure. First of all, we obtained each four arithmetical operation algorithms for performing the four arithmetical operations using by mathematical properties over GF(2**m). Next, for the purpose of realizing the four arithmetical unit module (adder module, subtracter module, multiplier module and divider module), we constructed basic cells using the four arithmetical operation algorithms. Then, we realized the four Arithmetical Operation Unit Modules(A.O.U.M.) using basic cells and we constructd distributor modules for the purpose of merging A.O.U.M. with distributor modules. Finally, we constructed the A.O.U.S. over GF(2**m) by synthesizing A.O.U.M. with distributor modules. We prospect that we are able to construct an Arithmetic & Logical Operation Unit Systems (A.L.O.U.S.) if we will merge the proposed A.O.U.S. in this paper with Logical Operation Unit Systems (L.O.U.S.).

좌표변환 기반의 두 자세 정렬 기법 비교 (Comparison between Two Coordinate Transformation-Based Orientation Alignment Methods)

  • Inertial measurement units (IMUs) are widely used for wearable motion-capturing systems in the fields of biomechanics and robotics. When the IMUs are combined with optical motion sensors (hereafter, OPTs) for their complementary capabilities, it is necessary to align the coordinate system orientations between the IMU and OPT. In this study, we compare the application of two coordinate transformation-based orientation alignment methods between two coordinate systems. The first method (M1) applies angular velocity coordinate transformation, while the other method (M2) applies gyroscopic angle coordinate transformation. In M1 and M2, the angular velocities and angles, respectively, are acquired during random movement for a least-square algorithm to determine the alignment matrix between the two coordinate systems. The performance of each method is evaluated under various conditions according to the type of motion during measurement, number of data points, amount of noise, and the alignment matrix. The results show that M1 is free from drift errors, while drift errors are present in most cases where M2 is applied. Thus, this study indicates that M1 has a far superior performance than M2 for the alignment of IMU and OPT coordinate systems for motion analysis.

  • As a new business concept, machine-to-machine (M2M) communications are born from original telemetry technology with the intrinsic features of automatic data transmissions and measurement from remote sources typically by cable or radio. M2M includes a number of technologies that need to be combined in a compatible manner to enable its deployment over a broad market of consumer electronics. In order to provide better understanding for this emerging concept, the correlations among M2M, wireless sensor networks, cyber-physical systems (CPS), and internet of things are first analyzed in this paper. Then, the basic M2M architecture is introduced and the key elements of the architecture are presented. Furthermore, the progress of global M2M standardization is reviewed, and some representative applications (i.e., smart home, smart grid and health care) are given to show that the M2M technologies are gradually utilized to benefit people's life. Finally, a novel M2M system integrating intelligent road with unmanned vehicle is proposed in the form of CPS, and an example of cyber-transportation systems for improving road safety and efficiency are introduced.

Effect of Different Feeding Systems on Carcass and Non-Carcass Parameters of Black Bengal Goat

  • The experiment was conducted to find out the effect of four feeding systems namely; stall feeding, tethering, restricted grazing and grazing on carcass characteristics of Black Bengal goat. Twenty four does of approximately 1 year of age were randomly selected for four treatments of feeding systems having 6 replications in each. Stall fed goats were kept into house all time and adequate amount of natural grass were supplied for ad libitum feeding. Goats of tethering group were tethered for eating natural grass from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and were transferred after one hour interval for changing the grazing place. Goats of restricted grazing group were allowed for grazing from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Goats of grazing group were grazed for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Concentrate supplement was given at the rate of 150 g per day per goat for all of the treatment groups. Goats were slaughtered after the experiment of 219 days. Body length and height at wither were significantly higher in stall feeding group than others. Average dressing percentage were 42.18, 39.0, 36.79 and 34.0 for stall feeding, tethering, restricted grazing and grazing groups, respectively. Dressing percentage varied significantly (p<0.05) among feeding groups. Caul fat and empty gut weight differed significantly (p<0.05) in all of the feeding systems but others non-carcass parameters did not differ significantly. Percentage of dry matter and ether extract were also significantly (p<0.05) higher in stall fed groups. In conclusion, among four treatment groups, performance of stall fed goats were most satisfactory and then tethering showed better performance than any other groups.

  • This paper considers multi-agent systems with interval time-varying delays and switching interconnection topology. By construction of a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii's functional, new delay-dependent consensus control conditions for the systems are established in terms of LMIs (Linear Matrix Inequalities) which can be easily solved by various effective optimization algorithms. One numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

대와류모사를 이용한 연기이동의 연구 I. 제연방식과 배기풍량 (A Study on Smoke Movement by Using Large Eddy Simulation I. Smoke Control Systems and Extraction Flowrate)

  • To evaluate the smoke control systems, the large eddy simulation turbulence model based Fire Dynamics Simulate was applied to a 2m $\times$ 2m $\times$ 2.4m room with an opening. The smoke removal rate was investigated for three different smoke control systems: ventilation, extraction and pressurization. When the opening was closed, the smoke removal rates of the smoke control systems were almost the same as expected. The pressurization system showed a lower smoke removal rate compared with the other two smoke control systems for the room with the opening, and hence the pressurization system might not be efficient for a place with large openings. It was shown that the lower extraction flowrate is, the longer time the ventilation system requires to remove smoke. From these results, the ventilation system is recommended for subway stations where several large openings exist.

Molecular Characterization of Plasmids Encoding CTX-M β-Lactamases and their Associated Addiction Systems Circulating Among Escherichia coli from Retail Chickens, Chicken Farms, and Slaughterhouses in Korea

  • Extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs), particularly those of the CTX-M types, are the predominant resistance determinants of Escherichia coli that are rapidly spreading worldwide. To determine CTX-M types, E. coli isolates were collected from retail chickens (n = 390) and environmental samples from chicken farms (n = 32) and slaughterhouses (n = 67) in Korea. Fifteen strains harboring blaCTX-M genes were isolated from 358 E. coli isolates. The most common CTX-M type was eight of CTX-M-15, followed by six of CTX-M-1 and one of CTX-M-14. The blaCTX-M genes were identified in the isolates from retail chickens (n = 9), followed by feces, water pipes, floors, and walls. Conjugations confirmed the transferability of the plasmids carrying blaCTX-M genes to the recipient E. coli J53 strain. Furthermore, eight addiction systems carried by the replicons in CTX-M types were confirmed. The dominant system was identified as ccdAB, vagCD, and pndAC in donor strains and transconjugants. The clonal relationship between the two strains carrying blaCTX-M genes indicates that E. coli may transmit from the farm to retail chickens, suggesting a possible public health risk. Our findings demonstrate that the detection of CTX-M types in E. coli isolates is important for tracking ESBL production in animals, and suggest linkage of multiple addiction systems in plasmids bearing blaCTX-M genes.

혼합형 채광조절장치가 실내공간의 주광조도분포에 미치는 영향에 관한 Mockup 실험평가 (Light Factor Performance of a Room with Light Guide and Blind Systems by Mockup Experiments)

  • This study aims to evaluate the illuminance performance of sloped light guide with automated venetian blind systems. For the purpose, a mock-up model was constructed as a prototype of Korean office building with $12.0m{\times}7.3m{\times}3.7m$ ($w{\times}d{\times}h$) and south facing side-window mounted between the clerestory window($2.0m^2$) and the view window($5.6m^2$). The light guide of 1.28m deepth and $29^{\circ}$ tilted angle, is covered with 0.6mm galvanized steel sheet and 97% reflective film. To protect the room from low solar angle, a blind systems, 0.15m deepth and $30^{\circ}$ automated slat angle was installed. To assess illuminance performance, the totally 37 measuring points for illuminance were monitored. For the detailed analysis, photometric sensors were installed at work-plane (8 points), wall (7 points), ceiling (3points), and exterior horizontal illuminance (1 point) respectively. The performance was measured under clear sky and is monitored by Agilent data logger, photometric sensor Li-cor and the Radiant Imaging ProMetric 1400. Comparisons of light factor and uniformity are discussed.

SMP 환경에서의 위성용 XtratuM 오버헤드 분석 (Overhead Analysis of XtratuM for Space in SMP Envrionment)

  • Virtualization with hypervisors is one of emerging topics in multicore processors for space. Hypervisors are software layers to make several independent virtualized environments on one processor. Since all hardware resources are virtualized and distributed only by hypervisors, overall performance of processors can be improved by fully utilizing the resources. However at the same time, there are overheads for virtualizing and distributing hardware resources. Satellites are one of hard real time systems, and performance degradation with overheads should be analyzed thoroughly. Previous research on the overheads focused on single core systems. Even the overheads were analyzed in multicore systems, SMP environment was not fully included. This paper builds SMP environment with XtratuM, one of hypervisors for space missions, and analyzes performance degradation with overheads. Two boards of GR712RC with 2 LEON3FT CPUs and GR740 with 4 LEON4 CPUs are used in experiments. On each board, SMP benchmark functions are executed on SMP environment with XtratuM and on that without XtratuM respectively. Results are analyzed to find timing characteristics including overheads. Finally, applicability of the XtratuM to flight software in SMP is also reviewed.
