  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated the lowpass filter with the wide stopband characteristics using microp- strip line. Adding the $\lambda_g/4$ open stub at the input and output ports, we developed the L-C ladder type lowpass filter using the open stub which has wide stopband characteristics. In order to reduce the entire size qf this filter, the high impedance microstrip lines were made with the meander structure. The lowpass filter was fabricated with the cutoff frequency 2.3 GHz and its measured frequency responses agree well with the simulation results.

  • A compact microstrip lowpass filter (LPF) with an elliptic function response is proposed. A high equivalent capacitance and inductance between the structures of the resonator result in the sharp transition band of 0.04 GHz from 4 GHz to 4.04 GHz with an attenuation level of -3 dB and -20 dB, respectively. To improve the LPF rejection band, multiple open stubs are connected to the proposed resonator. A filter with a 3-dB cut-off frequency at 4 GHz is designed, fabricated, and measured, and agreement between the measured and simulated results is achieved. The results show that a stopband bandwidth of 131% with a suppression level better than -20 dB is obtained while achieving a compact size with a wide stopband.

  • In this paper, we present an optimal hardware implementation for preprocessing of a person identification algorithm utilizing vein pattern of dorsal surface of hand. For the vein pattern recognition, the computational burden of the algorithm lies mainly in the preprocessing of the input images, especially in lowpass filtering. we could reduce the identification time to one tenth by hardware design of the lowpass filter compared to sequential computations. In terms of the computation accuracy, the simulation results show that the CSD code provided an optimized coefficient value with about 91.62% accuracy in comparison with the floating point implementation of current coefficient value of the lowpass filter. The post-simulation of a VHDL model has been performed by using the ModelSim$^{TM}$. The implemented chip operates at 20MHz and has the operational speed of 55.107㎳.㎳.

  • In this paper, we have studied the dependence of insertion loss of a microstrip stepped impedance lowpass filter with coupled open stubs. Coupling mechanisms in the filter depend not only on the transmission line width of the filter but also the gap width of coupled open stubs and three attenuation poles are created with the proper conditions. Also edge capacitance between open stubs play an important role in having three attenuation Poles. We verify the results by obtaining [S] matrices.

  • A simple and efficient analysis method of the suspended stripline using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is presented. New FDTD equations are derived using the contour path FDTD concept for the Yee cell which contains a dielectric sheet. The characteristic impedance and the effective dielectric constant of the suspended stripline are calculated using our proposed FDTD method. Using the calculated results, a 5-element lowpass filter is designed and fabricated. Our proposed FDTD method is validated by the measured data of the fabricated lowpass filter.

  • A novel lowpass filter with a very sharp transition band and wide stopband is proposed. The proposed filter is based on T-shaped patches which are etched in symmetrical structures and folded open stub. To obtain a wide stopband, we have used stub loaded semi-circle stepped-impedance structures. By designing the resonator with high inductance and capacitance, a very sharp transition band is achieved. The proposed filter has a 3-dB cutoff frequency at 2.37 GHz and a 40-dB rejection at 2.44 GHz. The stopband with an attenuation level better than -13.2 dB is up from 2.4 GHz to 16 GHz, and consequently we have reached the high and wide rejection in stopband with compact size. Good agreements between the simulated and the measured results are presented.

  • A novel application of a dual-transmission line is proposed to design a lowpass filter (LPF). The proposed structure uses only transmission line elements to produce an equiripple LPF response with sharp roll-off. Design equations are derived using a lossless transmission line model. Controlling the electrical lengths, three transmission-zeros are realized in the stopband to obtain a sharp roll-off rate and wide stopband bandwidth. A single unit microstrip LPF with a 3-dB cut-off frequency at 1.0 GHz having a roll-off of 135 dB/GHz along with a stopband bandwidth of 69.5% is designed for validation.

  • An ultrawide stopband lowpass filter is reported using three stepped impedance resonators with high selectivity. The filter extends the stopband frequency range and attenuation, and two quarter-wave open stubs and three circular ground slots are introduced. The lumped and distributed equivalent models are derived and analyzed. The corresponding results are validated experimentally in a fabricated prototype. The prototype lowpass filter has a 3 dB cutoff frequency (fc) of 2.9 GHz, and the stopband is extended up to 35 GHz (12.07fc), with an attenuation level better than 20 dB throughout. The passband-to-stopband transition (3 dB-20 dB) bandwidth is 0.18 GHz, and the roll-off factor is 135 dB/GHz at 30 dB. The insertion loss is 0.3 dB at 1.6 GHz. The normalized circuit size of the proposed filter with respect to the guided wavelength is 0.04.

  • This paper proposes a constant time-delay filter with low sensitivity, which can be used for hard-disk drive. The sensitivity of 2nd order lowpass filter by two kinds of method, one is based on lossy integrators and the other is lossy and lossless integrators is analyzed and designed. SPICE simulation shows fesibility of a filter by the proposed approach.

  • The goal of this study is to realize the PBG lowpass filter using novel PBG structure modification both upper layer and ground layer. It has been designed three aperture slots of ground layer for PBG structure which the center slot shape of ground is two type, rectangular and dumbbell. This PBG LPF llas the character of the broader stopband and smaller size than typical LPF. The measurement results have matched the simulated ones. It has the cutoff frequency of each 4.4650Hz and 3.520Hz and at least -2OdB of the signal suppression at the stopband.
