The Low-Radiation Dosimetry Application of "tris" Lyoluminescence using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance at Low Temperature

  • We present a method for detecting very weak radiation by analyzing the inner structure of irradiated tris (lyoluminescence) materials using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) at low temperature. Organic materials have been looked into for use in emergency dosimetry of inhabitants around radiation accidents. However, this technology has never been applied to imperceptible radiation doses (< 0.5 Gy) because there is no proper method for detecting the change of inner structure of the subject bombed by very weak radiation at room temperature. Our results show that tris materials can be applied as a radiation detectors of very small radiation doses below 0.05 Gray, if EPR is used at low temperature (130 K ${\leq}$ T ${\leq}$ 270 K). The EPR signal intensity from the irradiated-tris sample had barely faded at all after 1 year.

  • Flexible dye sensitized photovoltaics (f-DSPVs) based on plastic substrates have attracted significant interest due to their light-weight, flexibility, and compatibility with roll-to-roll processing, as well as their potential application to ubiquitous power sources. However, f-DSPVs exhibit inferior power conversion efficiencies (PCE) compared to conventional DSPVs since the fabrication process must be conducted at a low-temperature (≤ 150℃) to prevent thermal damage of the plastic substrates, which generally results in poor interconnection between the TiO2 nanoparticles. Numerous novel low-temperature manufacturing approaches for flexible photoanode and counter electrode have been developed. In this review, current progress on low temperature strategies for f-DSPVs technology are discussed.

저온 압력용기용 SA516강의 응력비에 따른 피로크랙 전파특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stress ratio affect on the Fatigue Crack Characteristics of Pressure Vessel SA516 Steel at Low Temperature)

  • In this study, CT specimens were prepared from ASTH A5l6 steel which was used for pressure vessel plates for moderate and lower temperature service. And we got the fellowing characteristics from fatigue crack growth test carried out in the environment of room and low temperature at $25^{\circ}C$ , $-30^{\circ}C$, $-60^{\circ}C$, $-80^{\circ}C$, $-100^{\circ}C$ and $-120^{\circ}C$ and in the range of stress ratio of 0.1, 0.3 by means of opening mode displacement. At the constant stress ratio, the Threshold stress intensity factor range ΔAKth in the early stage of fatigue crack growth (Region I) and stress intensity factor range $\DeltaK$ in the stable of fatigue crack growth (Region II) was increased in proportion to descend temperature. It assumed that the fatigue resistance characteristics and fracture strength at low temperature is considerable higher than that of room temperature in the early stage and stable of fatigue crack growth region. The straight line slope relation of logarithm da/dN-$\Delta$K in Region II that is, the fatigue clack growth exponent m increased with descending temperature at the constant stress ratio. It assumed that the fatigue crack growth rate da/dN is rapid in proportion to descend temperature in Region II and the cryogenic-brittleness greatly affect a material with decreasing temperature.

사출성형의 냉각 파라미터가 플라스틱 롤러의 수축에 미치는 영향 (The effect of injection molding cooling parameters on shrinkage of plastic roller)

  • A plastic roller for opening and closing the safety door of the injection molding machine was molded. The dimensional change of the measurement position of the roller was studied when the cooling time was applied differently among the molding conditions, and when the temperature of the coolant applied for mold cooling was also applied differently. Cooling times of 300 seconds and 400 seconds, hot and low-temperature coolant were applied. When the low-temperature coolant was applied, the measuring point of the roller shrank by 0.03 mm. However, when the high-temperature coolant was applied, the measuring point shrank by 0.3 mm. It was found that the application of low-temperature coolant among coolants was more suitable for the reference dimension of the molded article compared to the application of high-temperature coolant. Among the cooling water applied for the molding of plastic rollers, when high-temperature coolant is applied, the shrinkage rate measured immediately after ejection was smaller than when low-temperature coolant is applied. However, it was found that post shrinkage, which occurs over time, occurs much larger when high-temperature coolant is applied.

  • In order to compliant the stringent exhaust emission regulations, higher fuel efficiency and cleaner exhaust gas in combustion engines have been required. To improve combustion efficiency, an exhaust gas temperature is increasing, therefore higher temperature resistance is required for components in exhaust system, especially turbine wheel in turbocharger. IN100 looks quite attractive candidate as it has high temperature properties with low density, however it has low castability due to poor ductility at high temperature. In this study, the balance of Al and Ti composition was optimized from the base alloy IN100 to improve the high temperature ductility by expanding the γ single phase region below the solidification temperature, while obtaining the high temperature strength by maintaining the volume fraction of γ' phase equivalent to IN100 around 1000℃. Furthermore, the high temperature creep rupture life increased by adding a small amount of Ta. The alloy developed in this study has high castability, low density and high specific strength at high temperature.

질소(窒素) 및 삼요소(三要素) 균형시비(均衡施肥)가 벼의 냉해(冷害)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of Nitrogen and Balanced Application of NPK on the Low Temperature Injury of Paddy Rice)

  • '80년도(年度)는 수도재배기간중(水稻栽培期間中) 이상저온(異常低溫)이 계속(繼續)되었으며 냉해피해(冷害被害)가 컸으므로 냉해(冷害)의 양상(樣相)과 정도(程度) 및 영양흡수(營養吸收)와의 관계(關係)를 조사(調査)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같았다. 1. '80년도(年度) 벼의 냉해(冷害)는 수도생육(水稻生育) 후기(後期)에 계속(繼續)된 저온(低溫) 및 일조부족(日照不足)과 더불어 감수분열기(減數分裂期)에 있었던 생식생장(生殖生長) 한계온도(限界溫度) 이하(以下)의 저온(低溫)에 크게 영향(影響)을 받았기 때문인 것으로 사료(思料)된다. 2. 삼요소중(三要素中) 질소무시용구(窒素無施用區)에서 냉해피해(冷害被害)가 적었으며 질소시용량(窒素施用量)이 많을수록 냉해(冷害)가 심(甚)한 경향(傾向)이었고 삼요소(三要素) 균형시비(均衡施肥)으로 냉해(冷害)가 경감(輕減)되었다. 3. 냉해(冷害)는 통일계품종(統一系品種)이 일반계품종(一般系品種)보다 심(甚)한 경향(傾向)이었고 냉해(冷害)는 불임(不稔), 영화퇴화(穎花退化), 추수불량(抽穗不良) 및 양분흡수(養分吸收) 억제등(抑制等)으로 나타났다. 4. 저온하(低溫下)에서는 질소시용량(窒素施用量)이 많을수록 식물체내(植物體內) 규산함량(珪酸含量)이 유의성(有意性)있게 감소(減少)되었다. 5. 냉해조건하(冷害條件下)에서의 통일계품종(統一系品種)의 질소비료(窒素肥料) 시용적량(施用適量)은 13.6kg/10a으로서 예년(例年)보다 약(約) 10kg/10a 적었으며 수량(收量)도 크게 감소(減少)되었고 감소율(減少率)은 통일계품종(統一系品種)이 일반계품종(一般系品種)보다 심(甚)하였다.

파일럿 분사가 저온 디젤 연소에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Pilot Injection on Low Temperature Diesel Combustion)

  • A direct injection diesel engine with large amount of exhaust gas recirculation was used to investigate low temperature diesel combustion. Pilot injection strategy was adopted in low temperature diesel combustion to reduce high carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions. Combustion characteristics and exhaust emissions of low temperature diesel combustion under different pilot injection timings, pilot injection quantities and injection pressures were analyzed. Retarding pilot injection timing, increasing pilot injection quantity and higher injection pressure advanced main combustion timing and increased peak heat release rate of main combustion. As a result of these strategies, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions were reduced. Soot emission was slightly increased with retarded pilot injection timing while the effect of pilot injection on nitrogen oxides emission was negligible under low combustion temperature condition. Spatial distribution of fuel from the spray targeting visualization was also investigated to provide more insight into the reason for the reduction in carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions.

Antifreeze proteins promote the germination of low temperature-treated petunia seeds via regulation of antioxidant- and proline-related genes

  • The involvement of antifreeze proteins (AFPs; type I and III) in the germination of low temperature-treated petunia seeds (cv. 'Mirage Rose') was investigated. The addition of AFPs (300 or 500 ㎍/l) in low-temperature treatment significantly promoted the germination of seeds compared with that in which AFPs were not added. Among all treatments, treatment with AFP I added at 300 ㎍/l showed the highest germination percentage and improved plant growth. The expression levels of antioxidant-related genes such as superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and proline synthesis were associated with the germination of low temperature-treated seeds. Overall, this study demonstrated that AFP I may potentially function as a cold-protective agent for the germination of low temperature-treated seeds.

저온소결을 통한 초고용량 MLCC 개발 (Development of Ultra-high Capacitance MLCC through Low Temperature Sintering)

  • It is necessary to minimize the thickness of Ni inner electrode layer and to improve the coverage of inner electrode, for the purpose of developing the ultra high-capacity multi layered ceramic capacitor (MLCC). Thus, low temperature sintering of dielectric $BaTiO_3$ ceramic should be precedently investigated. In this work, the relationship between dielectric properties of MLCC and batch condition such as mixing and milling methods was investigated in the $BaTiO_3$(BT)-Dy-Mg-Ba system with borosilicate glass as a sintering agent. In addition, several chip properties of MLCC manufactured by low temperature sintering were compared with conventionally manufactured MLCC. It was found that low temperature sintered MLCC showed better DC-bias property and lower aging rate. It was also confirmed that the thickness of Ni inner electrode layer became thinner and the coverage of inner electrode was improved through low temperature sintering.
