Observations show that the accretion flows in low-luminosity active galactic nuclei (LLAGNs) probably have a two-component structure with an inner hot, optically thin, advection dominated accretion flow (ADAF) and an outer truncated cool, optically thick accretion disk. As shown by Taam et al. (2012), within the framework of the disk evaporation model, the truncation radius as a function of mass accretion rate is strongly affected by including the magnetic field. We define the parameter ${\beta}$ as $p_m=B^2/8{\pi}=(1-{\beta})p_{tot}$, (where $p_{tot}=p_{gas}+p_m$, $p_{gas}$ is gas pressure and $p_m$ is magnetic pressure) to describe the strength of the magnetic field in accretion flows. It is found that an increase of the magnetic field (decreasing the value of ${\beta}$) results in a smaller truncation radius for the accretion disk. We calculate the emergent spectrum of an inner ADAF + an outer truncated accretion disk around a supermassive black hole by considering the effects of the magnetic field on the truncation radius of the accretion disk. By comparing with observations, we found that a weaker magnetic field (corresponding to a bigger value of ${\beta}$) is required to match the observed correlation between $L_{2-10keV}/L_{Edd}$ and the bolometric correction $k_{2-10keV}$, which is consistent with the physics of the accretion flow with a low mass accretion rate around a black hole.
A MILD(Moderate and Intense Low oxygen Dilution) combustion, which is effective in the reduction of NOx, is considerably affected by the recirculation flow rate of hot exhaust gas to the combustion furnace. The present study used a coanda nozzle for the exhaust gas recirculation in a MILD combustor. A numerical analysis was accomplished to elucidate the effect of exhaust gas entrainment toward the furnace with or without a coaxial contractor. The result of the present CFD analysis showed that the entrainment mass flow rate without a coaxial contractor had 18% larger than that with a coaxial contractor when the mixed gas outlet pressure was ambient pressure. On the other hand, if the outlet pressure increased, the mass flow rate with a contractor was larger than that without a contractor. It could be analysed by the entrainment driving force composed with the nozzle throat pressure, inlet and outlet pressures and flow cross sectional area.

A preliminary, study of low temperature condition was performed to simulate high altitude condition. The mixed air temperature were investigated at various condition by experiments using cryogenic air by heat exchanger and normal temperature air. An experimental setup was constructed to simulate low temperature condition with liquid nitrogen. To control mass flow rate, orifice and pressure regulators were used. The experimental results show that the mixed air temperature increases linearly with mass flow rate of normal temperature air. Therefore it can be help to simulate a low temperature condition of high altitude.

The power cycle using ammonia-water mixture as a working fluid is a possible way to improve efficiency of the system of low-temperature source. In this work thermodynamic performance of the ammonia-water regenerative Rankine cycle with partial-boiling flow is analyzed for purpose of extracting maximum power from the source. Effects of the system parameters such as mass fraction of ammonia, turbine inlet pressure or ratio of partial-boiling flow on the system are parametrically investigated. Results show that the power output increases with the mass fraction of ammonia but has a maximum value with respect to the turbine inlet pressure, and is able to reach 22 kW per unit mass flow rate of source air at $180^{\circ}C$.

A throttleable rocket engine enables operational possibilities such as the docking of spacecraft, maneuvering in a certain orbit and landing on a planet's surface, altitude control, and entrance to atmosphere-less planets. Thus, throttling methods have long been researched. However, dual-manifold injectors, which represent one throttling method, have been investigated less than others. In this study, dual-manifold and single-manifold injectors were compared to determine the characteristics of dual-manifold injectors. Also, the effects of gas injection were investigated with various F/O ratios. To investigate the characteristics, mass flow rate, spray pattern, spray angle, and droplet size were measured. The spray angle and droplet size were captured by indirect photography. About 30 images were taken to assess the spray patterns and spray angle. Also, 700 images were analyzed to understand the droplet distribution and targeting area, moving to the right from the centerline with 1.11-cm intervals. The droplet size was obtained from an image processing procedure. From the results, the spray angle showed two transition regions, due to swirl momentum in the swirl chamber regardless of the F/O ratio. The droplet size showed similar trends in both dual-manifold and single-manifold injectors except in the low mass flow rate region. In the case of the dual- manifold injector, the spray cone was not fully developed in the low mass flow rate region due to low angular momentum in the swirl chamber.

In this paper, the influences of several factors, such as subcooling, superheating degree, internal heat exchanger efficiency, and etc. to the optimal amount of refrigerant charge are investigated for the case of R744-R404A cascade refrigeration system. Refrigerants used in the cascade refrigeration system are R404A in high temperature cycle and R744 in the low temperature cycle. The main results are summarized as follows : The mass flow rate ratio decreases with increasing subcooling, superheating degree and internal heat exchanger efficiency in the high temperature cycle, and evaporating temperature and compression efficiency in the low temperature cycle. And the mass flow rate ratio decreases with decreasing temperature difference of cascade heat exchanger and evaporating, condensing temperature in the high temperature cycle, and subcooling, superheating degree and internal heat exchanger efficiency in the low temperature cycle.
To clarify the hydraulic and thermal characteristics of ice slurry which made from 6.5% ethylene glycol-water solution flow in the double tube and plate type heat exchanger, experimental studies were performed. The mass flux and Ice fraction of ice slurry were varied from 800 to $3,500 kg/m^2s$(or 7 to 17 kg/min) and from 0 to 25%, respectively. During the experiment, it was found that the measured pressure drop and heat transfer rate increase with the mass flux and ice fraction; however the effect of ice fraction appears not to be significant at high mass flux region. At the region of low mass flux, a sharp increase in the pressure drop and heat transfer rate were observed depends on mass flux.

The CHF phenomenon has been investigated for water flow under forced and natural circulation modes with vertical round tubes at low pressure and low flow condition. Experiments have been performed by using three different test sections for mass fluxes below 400 kg/㎡s under near atmospheric pressure. The experimental data for forced and natural circulation are compared with each other. To predict the flow rate at the two-phase region our test condition has been analyzed by RELAP5/MOD3 because the local two-phase condition inside the stainless steel tube cannot be directly measured. To predict the CHF with accuracy we have to consider the parameters at the single-phase region as well as the flow behavior at the two-phase region.

Internal combustion engines release 30~40% of the energy from fossil fuels into the atmosphere in the form of exhaust gases. By utilizing this waste heat, plenty of energy can be conserved in the auto industry. Thermoelectric generation is one way of transforming the energy from engine's exhaust gases into electricity in a vehicle. The thermoelectric generators located on the exhaust pipe have been developed for vehicle applications. Different experiments with thermoelectric generators have been conducted under various test conditions as following examples: hot gas temperature, hot gas mass flow rate, coolant temperature, and coolant mass flow rate. The experimental results have shown that the generated electrical power increases significantly with the temperature difference between the hot and the cold side of the thermoelectric generator and the gas flow rate of the hot-side heat exchanger. In addition, the gas temperature of the hot-side heat exchanger decreases with the length of the thermoelectric generator, especially at a low gas flow rate.
Heat transfer characteristics were experimentally investigated for ice slurry which was made from 6.5% ethylene glycol-water solution flowing in the circular pipe. The test section was made of a copper tube of 13.84 mm inner diameter and 1,500 mm length. The ice slurry was heated by passing hot water through an annulus surrounding the test section. The ice packing factor(IPF) and the mass flux of the experiments were varied from 0 to 25% and from 1,000 to 3,000 kg/$m^2s$ respectively at a fixed hot water temperature and flow rate. The measured heat transfer rates increase with the mass flow rate and IPF; however the effect of IPF appears to be minor at high mass flow rate. At the low mass flow rate condition, a sharp increases in the heat transfer coefficient was observed when the IPF was above 15 ~ 20%. And finally the measured heat transfer coefficients were compared with those calculated from the correlations.
